Hi Tim!  Nice to see you here.

    Level 2 Analysis:

Hat: The only Level 2 detail required is the notched code disk, which you've provided a nice closeup of, thank you.  Can I ask for you to provide a more clear photo of the hat itself?  The main submission photos are quite dark and detail is impossible to see.  Level 1 details must be confirmed, as well, for a L2 application, as sometimes GMLs let things slide... that can be fine for basic, but not for higher levels.  (I know it's a Pilot Bay hat, so I'm sure it's fine, but I would still like a photo in the thread for confirmation)

Flightsuit: There are no specific Level two requirements for this costume.  However, as with the hat, may I see a photo of the flightsuit, front and back, with better lighting?  (Again, I know it's Pilot Bay and I don't anticipate any issues, but I'd still like a more clear photo for the thread)  Your flightsuit fits well, so we can also tick off this item as soon as a better photo can be added.

Belt: Your belt meets all Level 2 requirements, as well as basic.  Approved.

Boots: Your boots meet all Level 2 requirements, as well as basic.  Very nice boots.  Accurate knobelbechers.

Code cylinders: Your code cylinders meet all Level 2 requirements, as well as basic.  However, you specifically called this out as an ROTJ submission, and code cylinders are not supposed to be worn in the ROTJ variants, pursuant to the Level 2 details.  "Summary of L2 requirements:  ... ROTJ: Has gauntlets and compad, but no code cylinders or headset." and "ANH and ROTJ bridge crew shall not have code cylinders."

ComPad: Your ComPad matches the more recent revised references.  And it is appropriate for an ROTJ submission.  Approved for ROTJ.  (But see above re code cylinders)

Gloves: These appear to be the correct gauntlet-style gloves.  The photos are too dark to see any detail, however.  Please provide a closeup photo of the gloves that is better lit, so they can be verified.

Belt boxes: Two vertical belt boxes are worn, and they appear to have the correct OT proportions.  Very nice boxes.

So to summarize, I believe you have all the needed elements, but I need some additional photos, please.  And you will need to tweak your configuration to comply with the CRL requirements for the movie-specific variant that you want to go with.  Simplest option is likely simply to suit up again, this time without the code cylinders, and take a few detail photos, and you should be good to go.  Almost there!

I will get the requested shots.  My flash on my phone was killed when I had my battery replaced.  I will get some supplemental lighting.

Regarding the code cylinders, I had worn them to show how they fit in the sleeve pockets, as I was attempting to kill three birds with one stone, by showing all of the various accessories that I own, that are used by the three main looks ANH, TESB and ROTJ.  Since the main uniform is Hat, jumpsuit and boots are the same.  I do have another belt that is does not have the inset groves ( think the ANH belt is featureless and some have a raw leather edge).

Is it possible, to do it all three in the single post?

Notes: I am submitting the full length photos using the ROTJ Level 2 information.  I am also including detail photos for the variant items for ANH and TESB, since they share the same basic items (Jumpsuit, boots, belt, hat, etc) and differ (essentially) in the accessories worn or not worn.

If need be, I will split them into separate posts

    Jumpsuit: Pilot Bay

    Hat and Disk: Pilot Bay

Jackboots: Knobelbecher style with gusset, strap and buckle

Belt: If memory serves, Wampawear or Anovos

    Belt Boxes: Philo Props

    Compads: Pilot Bay

Code Cylinders: Pilot Bay and/or Philo Props (I have sets from both of them)

Alt Code Cylinders: Baileys Builds (the tall, thin alternate versions)

  4. Basically it depends on the width of the fabric. If memory serves, I bought like a yard and 1/2 for the exterior of the hats, a yard of lining material and about a 1/2 yard of interfacing the last time I built three hats. I forget the fabric width.

  5. Those are pretty funny. On a side note, when I was Legion CO, I attended Wondercon in San Francisco with my buddy and my wife. On Saturday, my buddy and I went as TKs and my wife as a black jumpsuited technician. Folks honked and waved and were saying things like "Go Star Wars", "May the Force Be With You".

Flash forward to Sunday where I dress out in my Black Death Star Naval troooper and my buddy and wife as black jumpsuited techs. Same honking, only this time, we get "F**%$^ Nazis", "Get off the Street", "Ba#($#ds", etc. What a difference a day (and two Stormtroopers make).

    :)

  6. Yeah, but the NCOs break that rule. Straight pants, tucked. Also, I see buckles. That means I can wear my jackboots to do an NCO while I'm waiting for my accurate equestrian boots.

    --Jonah

Yup the "NCOs" in A New Hope wear the same boot as the Naval Troopers (i.e. with the triangular gusset with buckle). There is also a strap/buckle at the wrist of the gloves on the NCO and the Naval Troopers.
