Great work, Ken!
And that, folks, is why one does NOT need the included rank badge from a particularly well-known seller on eBay.
-
So.... 10 people voted and 4 thought it was too confusing while 6 were okay. Not exactly definitive....
-
In looking over the forums, I was curious if the layout is a bit confusing, or if critical information is buried and not readily available enough. Another poll is added, asking the question "is the forum lay-out too confusing?"
Poll will be up for 2 weeks.

Thanks!

I definitely haven't tried it yet, but I should.

Looking VERY nice so far!

"article" and "confirmation"

Since the log-on box was referring to Titan's domain, my guess is that something on their MySpace page was a linked image that's hosted on garrisontitan.com, which would explain why that log-on appeared on various other MySpace pages -- anywhere that anyone from Titan posted with a linked image would have been affected.

That's the kind of stuff that we need to put together into one comprehensive guide, hopefully as part of the costume reference library project.

I love the look of the new forum as well as user interface, it's awesome... PHPBB3?? SimpleMachines? I do have one request, either by announcement, php code, whatever (if doable/permissible/etc).... Is there any way possible to limit the size of the banners/images that show up? It's not just here, but more often than preferred, i often find myself having to scroll over just because of a signature banner or image embedded in the post....even when I'm at very high resolution.
If not, no biggie, just thought I'd mention it....either way, i love the forum.
phpBB3.
I can turn on the image width restriction, but I can't predict how it'll go. The last time I tried it was on release candidate 6, or some other pre-release version and it didn't work so well...

Below this forum is the IOC Discussion forum with topics for IOC members. I know that we've had a few forum changeovers recently, so many of you might have gotten lost in the shuffle and no longer have access to the "members only" area. Since I don't know everyone based on forum IDs alone, I need you to post in the "additions to roster" thread if your screen name isn't yellow and it doesn't show up on the roster list.
There are MANY 501st members who don't have their screen names attached on the list, so they don't have access to the members-only area.
Right now, the topic is the costume reference library and the information and resources we as a Detachment need to provide the Legion for it. So please join in the discussion, or request access if you don't already have it.
Thanks all!

Thanks! There are still going to be some tweaks and fixes needed as folks start showing up again, so if you run into any issues, don't hesitate to bring them up.

Just a heads-up to all: I'll be closing the forum tomorrow to begin the port over to the new domain.

IOC members, prospects, and community folks....
I am announcing a coming change to the Web site, which includes the URL. Unfortunately, I have not been successful in contacting Flint, the current Web site owner of imperialofficer.net, over the last 2-3 weeks. Without his help, I can't update the forum or Web site with needed modifications to eliminate the barrage of spambot accounts that have been signing up, among other things that I would like to accomplish.
As such, I've decided to register a new domain and set up a new site on my hosting account.
This is not meant to disparage Flint in any way, as I understand that real life must take priority. At last communication, he was very busy at work with a new location that opened up. However, without knowing what Joshua's timeline is, I feel that IOC will be at a standstill for the foreseeable future unless I take this step.
I am working on completing a new forum template to reflect the member poll. Once that's finished, I will shut down this forum for about two days to export and reimport the forum database into the new site.
Then, it's my hope to compile the information from the CRL submission that Jasmine sent in last year to incorporate that into IOC's Web site. In the meantime, I would like to ask IOC members who feel they can be good models and test subjects to please take full-body high-quality photos of themselves in costume (please, no overhead incandescent lighting with the built-in camera flash). This invitation is open to officers, navy, and crew.
I would like to take the best ones and use them as the visual models for the CRL. The ideal photos would be full front, sides, and back.
Close-ups of accessories will come later as part of this project.

And of course, my first thought when viewing the "action shots" is "who's the dude with the RT?"
-
Esh, awesome list -- thank you! I did have to edit out the "costumes for purchase" references, though. "Unlicensed vendor" and all that, y'know

Following the poll for which logo style was preferred, a few posts suggested a combination of the black/green and the blue/grey.
So, here's the offer to all. If you have any ideas on how to combine the two, post them here. While I would like to move forward for now with the green/black style that won in the poll, as I've said before, units should be fluid and flexible to meet the desires of their members. If a new combo style is ultimately chosen in the future, then we'll do that (but who knows? Maybe the green/black will still endure )
Bear in mind that I'm not pushing for a particular design one way or the other. I'm more interested in building a firm, uniform look and a functional community facility.
-
Okay, so for now, we'll go with the black/green to start but I'd like to put the offer on the table that if anyone would like to tackle a combo-style logo and design scheme, please feel free to do so. I'll post a new thread for that.
-
Heck, how about both!
But for clarity's sake, let's start with the rank badge -- that's the item that's most unique to officers.
Thanks, Dave!
-
It's not about putting any strain on anyone -- that's my job
If the logo looks fine as is, then great! If someone has an idea for modifying it a bit, that's cool too!
-
Everything is fluid -- heck, we can decide on the green-n-black for now and then decide 6 months later that the blue was preferable after all.
Nothing is so set in stone that it can't be changed whenever the membership feels like it.
-
Well, looks like the black-n-green is the preferred one for the voters. Next question:
Does it need to be tweaked or adjusted in any way, and if so, how?
-
Geez, and you're close enough to Seattle where coffee should just be flowing through your veins anyway!
-
Actually, it's not Invision. It's phpBB, the same software as the Legion and many other units.

I will take it under advisement
