vonmoen got a reaction from beamishgunn in establishing an Imperial Scanning Crew Group
Since the Crew are considered "enlisted members", we could form a "EM Club". Military bases I remember going to always had one, where you could go and unwind (and have an adult beverage or two).

I'd recommend starting a thread in the New CRL section, it's a pretty cool uniform.

I'm sure you'll get the help you need there.

vonmoen got a reaction from Ithilnar in Imperial Uniform Origins
Peter Cushing was interviewed once and referred to the uniforms looking like something an English chauffeur from the 1920s would wear.

vonmoen got a reaction from trencher in Rogue One ISB Officer CRL discussion
That was the toughest thing I had to do when I put my Bridge Crew costume together. I hadn't shaved in over 15 years. But, duty called.

vonmoen reacted to kevair464 in Imperial Uniform Origins
Fitting, as it was an issued Pilot's uniform for the Royal Flying Corps from 1914-1918

This has probably been discussed to exhaustion, but as someone newish here, and as a historical re-enactor, figured it was a fun topic.
I know the general theory is that Lucas modeled officers from both Second World War German uniforms and those from F - 451.
Interestingly though, the Imperial Officer tunic is nearly identical to the tunic worn by British and Commonwealth pilots of the First World War, was referred to as a "maternity tunic" due to its odd shoulder closure.
Some pictures of me in a modern reproduction of an Australian Flying Corps Lieutenant, wearing the above tunic. Remove the Collar and Epaulets, and it should look VERY familiar

vonmoen got a reaction from trencher in Not sure which rank badge to get
As far as a rank bar goes, I'd recommend one that an Officer of your age would probably be wearing. For example, a 20 year old probably would be sporting Lieutenants bars, while Officers in their 50s or older would be senior Officers (Colonels and higher). Not sure about the boots, can you post a pic or two?

The Mudtrooper CRL is being hashed out over on the Spec Ops Forums, that's where you'll find the Imperial Army.

vonmoen got a reaction from trencher in Captain Tobias Beckett-Infantry Officer Disguise
Makes me wonder if Beckett in an Officers uniform will go to the Underworld Detachment.

And honestly, does it really matter where the AT-AT commander goes? You can do him regardless of which detachment he's in. However, future armored officers like Thrawn, Tarkin or Pryce should be ours

No matter where you served, or which branch, he set the example for all.
Rest easy, Devil Dog.

It is a good memory. Right after he gave the coin to my grandson some guy that saw what happened came up and asked Gunny if he could have a coin. "I don't hand these out to just anyone," he said, "you gotta EARN THEM!"

Outstanding. I had a guy ask me when they gave me my berret. I told him I had to earn it. Nothing was ever just given.

I was lucky enough to meet Gunny at a military timeline event in Southern California back in 2007. He wandered into our 15th Century Burgundian living history encampment and was challenged by my 9 year old grandson who was "standing guard". I walked up and showed him around the camp, and before he left he presented my grandson with a History Channel challenge coin for conducting his guard duty in a professional manner. He was a class act.

Yep, I already started a CRL thread over on the Spec Ops Forum.

vonmoen got a reaction from KaiserNash in The History of the Grey Imperial Officer Uniforms
The West End Games Death Star Technical Manual was what I tried to use when proposing the development of a CRL for the Imperial Army Trooper, but was told that it's no longer considered canon. We wound up going with the version from Dark Horse comics.
