  1. That's a major help, thanks! I didn't realize that they were buttons, always thought it was a solid plastic .

The links didn't work but the part #'s did. I'll add them to this post:

    BLUE buttons

    RED buttons

    YELLOW buttons

hey guys!!! i haven't read the last posts on this thread but i'd like to comment on this... i used these links this week to buy the little thingies and got them yesterder!

    super duper fast shipping btw...

    but....

the yellow they sent me is not what you guys seemed to have gotten from them before.

i have to call them when i get off work, bt the ones i got are FLAT yellow. i mean... not that see through plastic!!! just light yellow.

they are also MUCH smaller than the other ones (i got some red ones as well, and they are like the ones you guys have used for the rank bars)

for a sec i thought i had ordered it wrong but on the package itself it says the thingies measurements and they are supposed to b exactly as the red ones but they are not.

Newark has an announcement link on top of their website, and i havent' read the whole thing but it seems like some of their suppliers have been affected by the earthquake... and i'm wondering if they changed suppliers now and that's why it's different!

    anyways...

just wanted to give you guys the heads up in case someone is going to order the yellow thingies...

i'll let you know what they say when i call...

  2. hey Crimson!!

i think i'm repeating most of people said here...

but i think it would be AWESOME for us who are working on the uniforms for the first time, to have a TUTORIAL area.

that's the how tos, patterns... for everything [sewing, making rank badges, belts, hats, etc]

and i think maybe having an specific area like that can not only be easy for us to find stuff, but can also motivate people to make tutorials.

i confess i get pretty lost around here... like now i'm looking for the thread with Char's link for his tutorial page to suggest it to Dav'ika and i just can't find it!! =(

  3. hi Ember!!!

iactually mixed and matched both patterns!!!

i thought the seams on the front were better in one pattern than the other.... hahah

thank goodness they are both from the same company and fit perfectly together without any major alterations!

    Hi Julie!!!!

    that is awesome!!! keep us posted of your progress!!! and like everyone says: pictures, we love pictures!!!! =}

  4. hahaha i've seen it!!!!

we were in a troop and people kept calling the tie pilot Vader all the time!! hahah too funny!

    now....

i know it's not the same because mara jade is EU and if the average people get confused with characters from the movies, can you imagine with EU characters... but it's funny anyways!!!

i am called leia ALL the time! ALL THE TIME!!!

parents tell their kids:"GO say hi to the princess!!!!" hahahaha

but... the funniest is when people call me ASOHKA!!! hahahahah

helloooo!!! i don't even have headtails!!! hahahahahahahah

sometimes people come to me and appologize asking "who the heck are you?" hahahah that's funny too!!!

it was very different and new to me when i trooped the Star Wars In Concert. at least 9O% of the people there actually KNEW who i was!!!!

    that was very cool!!!!!

  5. I love the blaster idea!!! Haha always fun to hold a blaster!!!!! :P

and I love this costume just the way it is.... But maybe to stay away from beru and shimi you could mix some tatooine padme on it too??? With pants maybe?

and since this is just a fun project for you, you can u se ur imagination without limit!!!!

maybe keep the skirt but like... A bit of a pick up... So you can see padme pants under it???

or some other sort of pants to keep the sand from gettin in there!!! Hahah

  6. is there such a thing as denizen of the empire? I can't really find anything that fits what I am doing but I am SO NOT A REBEL!!!!

I did ask about it at the Krayt clan forum but was promptly shipped off to rebel central... hrummmph!

and thanks! I was worried about how it would turn out because i didn't want to be a jedi knock off either.

wow that looks soo awesome!!! I love it!!!!!

    great job!!!

tuskens and jawas are DZ... So is Mara Jade as Arica the dancer!!

maybe they sent you to the rebels cause they thought it was Shimi Skywalker???

  7. hi there!!!

    first of all!!!

    Congrats!!! that is awesome!!!

i honestly dont know... but i'm gonna check with the brazilian garrison and see if they can help with info about the clubs in brazil.

i'll post it here as soon as i hear from them...

    or... i'll show them his thread! =}

  8. ok, i'm not even going to try to not sound stupid here... hahaha cause... you know!!! it's not just the first time i try to make a rank bar, but it is also the very first time i hear most of the words you guys are saying here [caulk... vice... gosh! and i thought i knew english well hahaha]

before i go to home depot and make a fool of myself there... let me do it here! lol

    this caulking thingie...

how in the name of the maker did you get it in the crack soooo perfectly???

i cant even really see it in there!!!!!

i googled caulking... cause i had no clue what that was... and the tip on the thing seems fairly big to make such delicate line.... any tips on how to do that???

this caulk thing... need that pumpie thingie to attach to it??? or can you buy with it already?? [i know, i know... dumb dumb question  ]

ok, that's it for now... i know when i get the rest of the materials i'll have some more stupid questions for you guys so please please forgive me!!!

i am not gonna let the fact that i'm completely tool dumb get in the way of me trying to make my own rank bar!!!

    :P

that's the fun of it!!!! :P:P

Definitely don't worry about sounding too dumb, because that was one of the most adorable things I have read in a while :D

    hahahaha

    thanks!!!! :lol::lol::lol:

  9. When you buy a tube of caulk, the tips has to be cut off first. The size of the cut will determine the size of the hole and therefore the size of the bead that comes out. It takes some practice to do right.

The purple thingie -- I'm assuming you mean a caulking gun? A metal frame with a trigger that the tube is inserted into? Not always. Some caulk will come in squeeze bottles, like a tube of glue.

And don't worry about feeling tool-dumb. The only way to get tool-smart is to learn! :)

Or learn from others' mistakes....like "never tighten the bolts that attach a toilet tank to the toilet too tightly" ;)

hahahaha thanks Crimson!!!! yeah i was talking about the frame with the trigger.

and good!!! i can squeeze a tube of glue!!! hahahahah :lol:

good tip about the toilet tank bolts, too!!! thanks!!!

  11. hi everyone!!!

just want to put in here the patterns i'm using, cause i noticed i had to make very few mods with these 2.

i noticed there are 2 different kind of princess seam that can run in the back. i tried to find the thread with the picture of one of them that i saw around here, but i couldn't find it! sorry.

but i noticed that the seam can come out of the shoulders and run down the back [this would be exactly the same kind of seam that runs in front. ]

and then there the other one, that comes of the arm hole, and whould match one of the sleeves seam!

as far as i understood both of them are accepted! please correct me if i'm mistaken.

so... with these 2 patterns you have both options

    one is butterick 4929

and the other one is vogue 7978

i'm very new to the sewing world but i think both vogue and butterick patterns are actually the same company, which is pretty cool cause i was able to mix and mach the patterns with no problem at all.

the vogue pattern has the perfect princess seam for the front of the jacket, and very easy to add the pockets on the side front, and ziper on the front. need just very few mods [the front comes with a few extra inches for the buttons, but very easyto reduce that just enough for the ziper.]

and if you place the front on the fold [on the fabric] you get it perfectly to make the "bib" flap.

this pattern also has the sleeve with 2 seams as the costume calls for.

the butterick pattern has the perfect back princess seam. exactly like the picture i've seen around here, and the civil war pattern that you guys use.

matching the back of one pattern to the front of the other was very easy. you will just have to adjust the length...

and believe it or not the sleeves seem to fit perfectly too.

i havent sewed the sleeves on my mock up yet but i pinned them last night and and was able to match one of the seams to the princess seam on the back.

i'm a bit afraid of the sleeves hahahahaha

but i'l work on them tonight!

anyways... just wanted to put this on this topic too because... like... =] i'm 5'2" 11Olbs!!!! and ithink working with the civil war pattern [for men] would really have been more trouble to make it my size then anything else. hahaha

so i hope this helps the women officers to be out there!
