  1. Nope, that's what they looked like "in the package." The only thing we did to them was cut them in half to put on the side of the blaster.

In fact they weren't even in a package. They were just piled in a bin on a shelf, no packaging or anything. I'll try and stop by today and take a camera with me so I can take a pic of them and hopefully the name and part number.

  2. Were those threaded pieces above inside, or attached to other parts?

I'm not sure what you mean by this.

But I'm quite familiar with the look people give you when you're searching for a specific item for props. I've been to many a store looking for a very specific item, and they will turn around and say "no, but we have this which is the same thing." And then I have to tell them no, it's not, I need this specific thing because I need it for "such and such." It's quite amusing sometimes.

  3. Thanks.

It really isn't difficult at all. I may keep this one as a display version and I may end of making another one to troop with.

If I do, I think I will keep things to a minimum and just use the airsoft gun, put the piston tubing on the side, and put on a scope. As cool as all those things on the side are, I'm concerned that they may get in the way when using a holster.

  4. The scope has a bit of a strange history. My friend Jason made his own Power 5 at the same time I was doing mine.

For his scope, he found a cell-phone adapter kit at a local discount store for $6. It had a nice tightly coiled wire at the end of which was a tube-like "female" plug. He used a bit of the wire and that plug for his scope.

For my scope I got a bit creative. Jason works as courier for Vet offices so he grabbed a small plastic blood vial for me. I work in the medical field myself and it's about the same size as a pediatric blood vial. He also gave me the remaining bit of coiled wire from the adapter. I drilled a hole in the bottom and put the end of the coiled wire in it. The vial was a clear plastic so I painted the inside black with a brush, and then I taped off the wire and painted the outside the same textured paint as the rest of the blaster.

Here is a pic of the handles (painted semi-gloss black) and the scope. I will put everything together later today and take some final pics.

  5. Well I'm just about ready for painting. I had to get creative when it came to some of the greeblies on the blaster.

I finished the piston tubing on the left side of the blaster (left side when being held). That pretty much finished up that side.

On the right side I added a square piece of thin styrene plastic, and the connector end of a network cable which I cut off. I had to add a little piece of styrene plastic under the connector since it had a "ledge" in order to make it sit nice and flat. I used this connector because I thought it looked neat and I couldn't find anything similar to what was used on the screen version.

Next up will be to prime it and then paint it black. After the painting is done, I'll add the silver snap to the left side, add the scope, and re-attach the handles (which will have been painted black as well.)

  6. A little more progress. I have removed the handles of the blaster. I plan on painting all the "metal" parts of the blaster with a black textured paint but I dont want that on the handles so that's why I removed them.

I have glued the one tube to the left side of the blaster. I also took one of the airsoft pellets and cut it in half and glue the halves to the same side. That is the yellow bulbs you see on there. Just above the yellow bulbs is a snap assembly that I have glued to the blaster. The silver disk is the snap. I have removed the pin on the back of it to make it sit flat. I haven't glued that yet, that will be glued on after painting because I want it to remain silvery, but I have put it in the 2nd pic in the location I plan on putting it in.

  7. Good job! Do you have more info on the hose adapter that you used? Size, make, model, material, etc?

I think it's a fairly standard hose adapter that I found in the local hardware store. I was just walking through the store and said "hey this will work!" I dont know anything about the make or model, but I can tell you it's some form of plastic and it is a 1" to 3/4" adapter and the overall length of it is 1.5".

  8. The next phase is the "tubing" on the side of the blaster. What I have used is 2 pieces of garden hose adapters that have been cut in half. The first pic shows a reference pic of the adapter, as well as the pieces I have formed out of the adapter. I used a dremel to cut the adapter in half, and then I glued the two pieces together end on end. This long section will eventually get put onto the right side of the blaster, as seen in the 2nd pic.

I also cut another adapter as to get a single half piece that will get put onto the left side of the blaster. I had to use the dremel to shave these pieces a little so as to fit more snuggly to the side of the blaster.

Once I have these glued on I will provide additional pics.

  9. I'm working on a Merr Sonn Power 5 for my eventual Imperial Officer. As I continue to work on it I will update with new pics.

The base so far is an airsoft replica of a C96. The flash suppressor is cut off from a old han solo blaster and already glued on. I am going to glue shut the chamber for the airsoft gun. I MAY attempt to glue back the trigger to give it a more accurate look, but I haven't decided on that yet. I sorta like having a traditional trigger to play with.
