  1. It means the flap part, the part that closes over the pocket, should look like this.  It comes to a point

Unfortunately the model used for the CRL photo doesn't seem to have the chevron points on the pockets.  However,  if you click on the photo of the jump suit further down on the CRL, you can see a jumpsuit with the chevron pointed pockets.

  2. Here is the latest updated.

    New update

As this was to be a quick conversion for trooping purposes, I'm not too concerned with some of the imperfections that have surfaced.  I may try and sand off some of the E-6000 that is visible on the left side of the blaster, in addition to painting the flash suppressor silver.

I also came to a realization that I DONT have a left handed holster.  LOL.  I hadn't worn my uniform in such a long time I forgot my holster was right handed (even though I am left handed.)  I remember now that I had gotten a right handed holster because the standard Hasbro blaster needs to go into a right handed holster because of the way the scope sits.  Now I think I will have to get a left handed holster, maybe one in brown this time.

  3. My hope is to finish this blaster this weekend at an armor party.  I have ordered some garden hose adapters to cut and put on the blaster. I am left handed and have my holster on my left, so I think I will only put the "pistons" on the left side of the blaster.  Putting it on the right also would be difficult due to the large rectangle which was the "rail" that the scope was attached to.  I also plan on getting some putty to fill in a few gaps.

  4. I started a topic before but I can't seem to find it.

I am currently using a Hasbro DL-44 as my trooping blaster.  Most people wont know the difference, but I always wanted to make one more accurate so I decided to convert an extra Hasbro blaster I have to resemble a Merr Sonn Power 5.

So this is the blaster as it looks out of the box.

My original intentions for this blaster was to just paint it black and give it to a friend to use as a trooping blaster.  That is why it has the black paint on it.  But plans changed.

I used a dremel to cut off the scope and then sand down some of the raised areas that were left.  This left a large hole on the top of the blaster where the scope was cut off.  I used some spare plastic I had sitting around to cover the hole on the top.  I also sanded off some of the writing on the side of the blaster.

So now I needed a scope.  I work in healthcare so I found a small blood vial that I thought would work well.  You can pretty much use anything you can find that is shaped like a tube and can fit on the blaster well.  A friend of mine also had some coiled wire left over from another build he was working on. This is rubber-coated, coiled wire as you would find from headphones or something similar.

I sanded the top of the blaster down some more and added another flat piece of plastic to put the "scope" on.  I also sanded a flat section onto the round vial so it would sit better on the blaster, and drilled a small hole onto the top of the blaster so we could put the wire down into it.

    Update

I got the hose adapters and cut it in half.  I glued halves together, end to end with some superglue.  I tried CA glue at first, but it didn't work, I guess the type of plasitc was not compatible.  After the superglue dried I put some E6000 on the inside seam for further reinforcement.  I then used the E6000 to glue the whole thing to the side of the blaster, as seen below.  I did not put one on the other side, this will allow it to be more easily holstered, since I have a left side holster, and will allow me to replace batteries as needed.

  5. While I agree that the price is very high, too high for my own blood, lets also remember that these aren't your normal "suits."  I am sure a lot of time and effort went into designing and getting the right fabric and color (especially for the olive green uniform.)  And you have to remember too that they have to pay a hansom price for the licensing from Lucas.  This is something the armor makers and uniform makers within the legion dont have to worry about.  And guess what people, the price is set at what the market can handle, and obvious the market can handle $1500 because they have already sold out of the tier 1 level.  It might not be me buying it, or you buying it, but obviously someone is buying them.  I just wish I had a big enough paycheck that I could put $1500 into it and not cry.  It also makes me wish I had bought a Museum Replica's one when I had the chance.

  6.  Zero proof of this has ever been clearly shown in any movie or EU. Only the author who threw together some questionable information for the DK visual dictionaries has offered this as fact.

Since EPII clearly states the Clone Troopers are part of the Grand "Army" of the Republic, it seems obvious that Stormtroopers and their Officers (armored or not) are part of the Imperial Army.

Stormtroopers on Endor & Snowtroopers (Stormtroopers in cold-weather gear) on Hoth are the only Imperial Infantry we ever see. The only other "troopers" we see are Imperial Navy (Or rather Imperial Fleet) Troopers, who are seen on screen specifically serving in non-infantry roles.

I'm just telling you what they wrote.  Take it or leave it as you like.  It does help to explain some things though.  For instance, why General Veers has a green uniform.  If the Stomtrooper Corps is separate and thus is the only one who's officers wear black, then we can assume that the regular Army officers wear green, just as Veers does.

  7. So I got my copy of the newly released Imperial Officers Handbook.  There is some interesting bits of information in it.  For instance, it states that the black uniforms are indeed Stormtrooper officers.  It also states that the Stormtrooper Corps is a separate entity from the Imperial Navy and Imperial Army.  I would have liked to have seen more indepth talk about ranks, but it only briefly covered that subject.  I will see if I can add some pictures of the relevant pages.

  8. Some people suggest submerging the boot as well, getting the leather all wet.  I'm not a big fan of that idea, but if it doesn't stretch for you the other way, you can try doing the same thing but submerging it in water as well.  In fact the same squad mate who came up with the ball and pump method did that to one set of boots he had.

  9. Save yourself some money, you can stretch them yourself. One of the guys in my squad has a great method. Get a small sports ball (like those small basketballs) and deflate it and stuff if into the boot. Use a air pump to slowly inflate the ball until it is just slightly stretching the leather. Let it sit like that for 3 to 4 days, then pump up the ball just a tiny bit more. Rinse and repeat as needed. Might take a couple of weeks but you should be able to get it stretched enough to fit.

  10. While BJ will be the best one to answer your question, from what I see the first set of boots would probably be a no, just because of that strange panel they have near the top.  You can see it when you look at the posterior pictures.  Same thing with the 3rd boot you listed.

The 2nd one looks to be the best, but the angle of the cut at the top of the boot looks a bit strange.  It's not exactly right.

I can't seem to find a link for it, maybe BJ has it saved somewhere, but there was this website that was selling Han Solo boots (which is the same as the officer boots.)  If memory served me that was all they sold, and the name of the website was something like "Han Solo Boots.com" or something similar.  I seem to recall they were custom making the boots and the price wasn't horrible; $200 or thereabouts.

Someone also recently found an ebay seller who appears to have some old Museum Replica stock.  There are mixed feelings about the MuR boots however.

  11. Ok I'll bite, roughly what price range are they looking at?  Is it a uniform of a specific character, in other words, is it coming with a Tarkin rank bar, Adm Piett rank bar, etc..  Is there any chance they will offer the uniforms with regular AND long sizes?  That last one might be something they consider in the future.  You can let them know that I have a rather tall friend who has bought a few of their star trek stuff before, but had to return it because they didn't fit (mostly the sleeves were too short for him.)
