This the official guide to illustrate all canon officer ranks recognized by the IOC. It is compiled with reference from the original movies, and official EU sources. It is created from a costuming point of view, and not meant to explain every rank's importance or how they differ from movie to movie (that's what fan fiction is for). It is just a simple chart that shows what rank officially goes on what costume. Code cylinders are intentionally excluded, and can be referenced in the CRLs.

Note Rogue one/Solo ranks are only compatible with Rogue one uniform style

Aw thanks, 10 years down and I still love it.
Yeah, we did the full 10km walk...we got a lot of attention that day, just being the two of us in costume.

Keep in mind that I am still fairly new to this and still working on my Staff Officer Uniform. Having said that, if someone does salute me, I will return it (former US Navy) out of habit. If I am in uniform, I will salute during a National Anthem, etc.

    Side Note: Very interesting discussion/topic.

I have a few things on the table. I'll start back up this Summer. That new TK was a beast!

Yeah, I like female costumes....on females. lol
I don't think I'd look very flattering in either.

I have a lot of different costumes, but I'll just share my IOC ones.
My second Legion-approved costume was the Navy Trooper. I always liked that they were the henchmen that are practically in every scene in the OT, yet most ordinary people can't seem to remember them. I also thought it would be fun to do the Star Wars version of what I felt was equivalent to my job (at the time) in the military.

    ESB version

Then I thought it'd be fun to do an officer

    A little non-canon fun

This has been common knowledge for a long time. Just another oversight in the CRL that we need to fix

I (or rather, my husband) uses an ISB uniform from cosplaysky.  You will need to insert your own modesty panel.  They seem to forget to add one every time.  They will also ask you if you want the "new version" or the "deluxe version".  You do not.  Else you will get a Staff Officer uniform in cream which will not pass for ISB uniform.  They also have a tendency to really fail on the shape of the flares in the jodphurs.

Which brings me to this point:  You can opt to just get a pair of black gabardine slacks (from Target, Sears, wherever), dress boots (like these -- http://www.amazon.com/Bostonian-Mens-Nicky-Boot-Black/dp/B0073LDZRO),and ISB tunic .... OR ... you can go ISB tunic, black jodphurs, and knee boots.  Personally, I like the first option better, and it is easier to acquire / get into, especially from a footwear standpoint.

If you do choose straight leg pants, you can ask Cosplaysky to just sell you the ISB tunic without the pants.  That is what my husband did, and it was much cheaper.

ok update for the day is as follows:

did some more research, trachtas' black officer tunic is not like the standard tunic, the flap in the front is wider, collar goes up below his ears, and he has no code cylinder pockets.

trachtas' black officer suit is 90% done
the sleeveless uniform is 95% done

tomorrow i will finally get around to trying my new method on the arms and i'm remaking the eyes to be more stronger and durable (the ones i originally made are more fragile than a china shop)
also tomorrow i shall be painting the tubes and hopefully get pictures of those posted, as well as pictures of the black officer uniform and sleeveless uniform.

All i can say now is hooray for spring break!

oh and do feel free to comment (anything), it feels like i'm talking to my self here.

Thanks.   I'll have to take a closer look at the McCall's pattern tonight.  Those extra "outer" seams may be under the arms in the pattern.  I may have to tweek it.

List of tweeks I've identified so far on the McCall's pattern for anyone keeping score:

    1. Straighten the yoke extension so the bottom aligns with the top and does not end in the direct front.
    2. Attach the yoke extension to the pattern piece before cutting fabric so it is all one piece and the will be no front seam.
    3. Add front dart to the yoke/left front pattern piece
    4. Cut sleeve pieces to add back seams to sleeves.  Ensure they line up with back princess seams.
    5. Attach two back pattern pieces together before cutting fabric so there is no center back seam
    6. Cut back side pattern pieces to create second set of princesss seams to back.
    7. Extend left front skirt pattern piece so that it lines up with bottom of new yoke/left front piece.
    8. And of coarse add modesty panel to inside of collar.

    Not bad overall.

I used scrap fabric, felt, and elastic to make a carrying case for my code cylinders.  I haven't gone trooping with it yet, but hope to soon!

I recently ordered a uniform from Cosplaysky (just for the heck of it) and told them to make the jodhpur flares three inches smaller. They turned out great.

My 7 year old daughter is probably the most fanatic Star Wars fan out there today.  We got a puppy for her birthday.  A pure bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  We registered him with the American Canine Association.  My daughter picked the name.  Check out his official papers.
