  1. I had the same issue. When I got them I was so excited, and then I tried to put them on and was like"what the hell????????" brute force is indeed required, and yes you can hurt the boot, especially if your pulls are canvas, not leather. Those suckers will tear! You can also hurt yourself, as I did. Pulled a muscle along my ribs trying to get them on. Out of the gym for a month. I kid you not. Most embarrassing stupid injury ever.

And no, do NOT put these suckers on until you get the tool to remove them, at least not unless you relish sleeping and showering in them while you wait for Amazon to overnight it to you!!! LOL!

  2. Hey Cheryl; I use the trusty Altoid boxes, and they are an awesome dirt-cheap way to get started and approved. However, they are, after all, Altoid boxes, so I'm upgrading to MonCal's well-regarded boxes this summer. They have the "clip" molded in as part of the box. And they're pretty cheap at about $10 a pop.

Altoids though, for the clips, I followed the advice given here on the forums and visited my local Dollar General store and bought 2 tape measures for a buck each. Brought 'em home, unscrewed the metal clips and screwed them onto the back of my Altoid tins. Voila.
