Skriker got a reaction from Jaki in The things you have discovered while trooping as an officer
For me the first thing I noticed is how many people have no idea who you are. On my first troop I walked at Vader's side the whole time and most of the people would come up "Oooo Vader we love you!" and then look at me and say "Who are you supposed to be?"
We actually have a listing of things for officers to remember posted in our garrison academy to help people get better into the role. Some examples:
    1) Never salute. Not a single officer is seen saluting in the films. Nods are acceptable.
    2) Only walk *next* to Vader or the Emperor if you are speaking with them or they are speaking to you. Otherwise stay about a step behind.
    3) While standing still the officers in the films seemed to prefer to have their hands clasped behind their backs and not in the front.
    4) Stick by the "boss" whether it be Vader or the Emperor. You will be their eyes and ears for the event. Help them avoid hazards, without looking like you are helping and inform them if a fan is coming up from behind and trying to get their attention.
    5) In general keep your eyes open as you will usually be the one person able to see the best. Especially important when you mix in denizens as most people in tusken masks can't see much of anything.
    6) Expect to talk to people. Often people will talk to you a lot because they can see your face and aren't staring at blank lenses while trying to communicate.
    7) Posture! Posture! Posture!
Always make sure your uniform is clean, neat and unwrinkled. You are in charge, aside from the boss. Look it!
    9) Have fun! Be imperious and stern, but make sure you and those you interact with have fun!
I know some officers don't like to carry pistols. I prefer to carry a mersonn model-44. Everyone loves blasters and loves to see them and the model 44 makes it clear that while I am armed I am most definitely not doing all the heavy lifting in the shooting department. Of course I just have fun customizing blasters too. So my first two were a mersonn model 44 and mersonn power-5 instead of the standard dl-44, dh-17 or e-11.

Aside from Veers, I don't remember ever seeing one in the films, and now I want to look, but in the Empire comics there were officers in green armed with pistols and with holsters on their belts.   Tank carried an SE-14R.  Honestly in the role the character was in during the story I think he really should have been wearing black and not green, but those comics artists like to take their liberties and we get to benefit.

My first uniform was custom tailored and is much better made than the 3 Cosplaysky uniforms that I have.  The cosplaysky uniforms are still decent, though.  The fabric tends to be lighter, but still works.  As your only uniform a cosplaysky might not last very long, but for me, with 12 costumes, it is not a big deal.  To get my Isard finished I actually bought and delivered fabric to them in the color I wanted and it feels much more solid like my original staff officer.  I might do that again for my next uniform I get through them.  It was definitely worth the extra cost to ship it to them.

If you can find an appropriate style of suiting fabric in the color you want you could still get cosplaysky to make the uniform for you if you provide the fabric yourself.  That is always an option if you cannot find a local tailor to do it. I think it cost me $30 or so to priority mail the fabric to their offices. The biggest issue is finding a tailor locally who can make a uniform from the ground up and tracking down the appropriate pattern for them to do so.  Of course local make means you can do test fittings during the process to avoid having serious rework at the end if it doesn't fit.

Cosplaysky's green isn't perfect, but it still makes a sharp looking uniform and given how hard it is to find the proper fabric, a number of line officers all in cosplaysky green still look pretty good.

Be sure to order the deluxe version of the officer which is listed only in black.  They will make it olive or another color if you request though.  Two things on the cosplaysky unis is that the jodphur flares are often really big and as Ben said you can ask them to make them a little smaller, also for some reason when they put the hooks and eyes on for the collar they put the eyes on the privacy panel, but this can lead to the collar not sitting correctly when worn so moving the eyes to the opposite collar side is often a needed step so that the collar ends meet up properly.

The hook and eye problem is a quick matter of simple hand sewing to make happen.

Cosplaysky has been good about improving their officer and this is the 3rd incarnation of it to get it even closer to our requirements for approval.  I have 3 uniforms from them, and some other non-star wars related work as well and have been pleased with all of it.

Before our Special Olympics event this past November I found myself, a humble naval trooper, up for review before Vader and the Emperor.  No one told me I needed to arm wrestle the Emperor to complete my review.
