John Mollo created the costumes we wear here, most of all, the imperial officer uniform.  He was the formost authority on European Military Fashions of the last 500 years and could tell you not just the configuration of the uniforms, but the purpose behind them.  He wrote the definitive text on the subject.  He will be deeply deeply missed.

A pretty cool thing happened to my daughter and me last Friday at the Grand Rapids (Michigan) Comic Con. While chatting with Clive Revill (original voice of Emperor Palpatine in The Empire Strikes Back), Julian Glover, CBE (General Veers) stepped into our chat. It turns out that, while they were not in any scenes together in ESB, Revill and Glover worked together in the 1950s for the Royal Shakespeare Company (we learned from Julian during this encounter that it was then called the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre) in Stratford-upon-Avon. Over the next fifteen or so minutes, they had a lovely reminiscence and included us as appropriate. It turns out they had not seen each other since their time at the SMT in 1959. My spawn and I were honored to be part of this reunion 58 years in the making. Thank you for including us, gentlemen.

I agree.  He also did the costumes for Event Horizon.

He also designed the costumes for 1 of my other favourite movies, Outland, the similarities between the costumes from that and Alien makes me like to think they are in the same universe

Back in the late 1970s I had his book, Uniforms of the Seven Years War. The guy knew his stuff.

Went to a troop on Friday for Micheal Giacchino's 50th birthday a great night where I and my fellow Troopers got to hang with Gareth Edwards for a bit, we talked to him regards Rogue one, Adam Savage presented the show and at one point wore an Anovos Krennic.

I have been saying this for so many years.  The man is 86 years old now.  How much time will we have to have the chance.

I am going to look for a way to reach out to him.  He DID visit the set of Rogue One to look at the costume with Glyn Dillon.  I'll see if there is a way to contact him.

while the greeble that goes on the hat was a pully from a popular record player (the notch was where the key went), I am not sure what the X-tools originated.  It could have been the only form of machined metal prop that went on pilot's uniforms and (select) imperial officer uniforms.  

I wish there was a way to get a hold of John Mollo.  I think he could tell the story in a minute.

I think these movies set during or near the original trilogy will bring more order to the rank system than there ever was with the original films.

Not quite sure where to put this, I am wondering are we going to categorize the costumes from this movie. Timeline wise it should play before OT?
Do we put them into the  R1 directory?  Create a new one for this Movie?
 
Anyhow here are 2 Black Tunic officers, Tag and Bink? I am not familiar with these characters.
 
To me they look more like R1 uniforms than OT, Rankbars, maybe a lack of notch in the Disk, it seems like blue tipped cylinders with silver clips?

A single posted list of available tailors would be a good idea (with their permission of course).

You can list their name, address, website (if any), state or country (if they are willing and you want to be measured by them).

The costumes they make can be listed.  If they are approved by the legion you can put a star by it.  If one of theirs has been cleared executor or imperator, you can put addition stars by that.  That way people know the potential quality they would be getting.  

This could be a pinned topic reviewed and updated periodically.

I have a list of tailors that are willing to be on such a list here.  I would be glad to post them if a format can be agreed upon.

I'm a pattern drafter/seamstress interested in being listed; I've made at this point a majority of approved Hux costumes, and do Imperial as well. I'm currently updating my portfolio site; I'll send info and link this weekend
