I am a tailor/seamstress who would be interested in being listed - I've made a few different costumes for IOC members - Krennic, First Order General Hux, Imperial Officer, and Emperor Palpatine - it appears most of the parts I made only go up to Level 2 - but I always make each part to the highest level certification, often including more details that aren't even in the CRL yet.

    I'll message Kris!

A single posted list of available tailors would be a good idea (with their permission of course).

You can list their name, address, website (if any), state or country (if they are willing and you want to be measured by them).

The costumes they make can be listed.  If they are approved by the legion you can put a star by it.  If one of theirs has been cleared executor or imperator, you can put addition stars by that.  That way people know the potential quality they would be getting.

This could be a pinned topic reviewed and updated periodically.

I have a list of tailors that are willing to be on such a list here.  I would be glad to post them if a format can be agreed upon.

I know two tailors in Germany. These Ladys are here on the IOC as well. Maybe they want to get added. One made at least one custume that already got cleared L3. I will ask them if they want to get listed.

    Hi @ all,
i just checked the "IOC Costume Resource List"- thread and saw our respectable amount of ressources for all the parts needed there. But i thnk something important is missing.   We do have a list of vendors where you can get parts or complete sewn uniforms, but what about seamstresses and tailtors? As long as you didn´t sew it yourself it´s the best way to get a perfect fitting uniform. And that´s the good news, we already know them. Either because they´re member of the Legion/IOC, or members of the IOC have there costume made by them. And you know what you can get by simple looking at the approved costumes they made.  So why don´t we share such important ressources?

I can only agree, the easier a CRL can be read, the better it can fulfill it´s purpose. So regarding the staff officer CRL i Support the idea of splitting it up in two.

But the tunic is the main part of the whole costume. And since the pattern differs in many ways, another description of a tunic's pattern would overload the existing CRL.

Great to know that some of the people on the group-picture are around here on the IOC  Our friends from our neighbor-Garrisons in France and Luxemburg for example. I hope we meet more often and share our enthusiasm!

    Throwing in my own experience:

When I choosed to be (better "was chosen") Grand Moff Tarkin 2,5 years ago, I was happy to find Philos codecylinders. It took only few days to recieve them (inside Europe) and I liked them very much. Then I got into the details of my costume and found, that Tarkin only used the small hooks in the front, not the entire clip. But in those days the clips on Philos Dosis were fixed/welded and could not be used the way I wanted it. I found another vendor in Austria (smuggler run) who provided the clips that I was looking for. Since then I can wear them the way it is meant to be.

Luckily in Europe we have three sources of accurate stuff: Philo, Smuggler's Run and of course Klaus Windstosser and his "Fräßstüberl" (Cari likes this word). During the last three month our fellow Garrison- and IOC-member Christian Schießl offered a bunch of original blue topped dosimeters in many forums as well as on facebook. Got some for myself and they are great.

It is or will always be a bit of luck to get the most accurate or original stuff. But it ain't impossible. Patience is needed though.

For the entry-level modified chalk holder will do the job. And I agree with those who are calling for better visual guidance in the CRL that shows, how the acceptable options look like. At the moment it is just a bunch of different versions that are not discriped one by one. If we could make a clear discription for each possible version (even for L2/L3) it will make the life of the applicants as well as for the GML a lot easier.

Thats not entirely true. JRS almost exclusively uses XWing style code cylinders, not dosimeter style. The only CRL that does is the 181st Dress Uniform, and I just checked and they still allow chalk holders.

    Hi guys

Possibly the most off topic of all off topic threads! But I noticed that there were 501st generic facebook profile frames, and Rebel Legion ones and stuff. So I looked into it and there wasn't an IOC frame! aaaaand then I made one.

Should be able to find and apply it by searching ioc or imperial officer corp in the frame application bit!

I started off by using chalk holders.  Philo hadn't started yet and finding a real honest to goodness british style dosimeter required luck and money.  I work in the nuclear industry and we knew that was a diminishing limited supply not easily available.  I now own five real ones with a calibration device, but it was more luck than good searching that allowed me to find it.

Eliminating chalk holders would be a very limiting thing.

I'd still like to chase that windmill.  Just because I sunk so much time into writing a draft CRL.
But I've since bought a beautiful Clothears Line Officer uniform that I need to tweak.  My current uni MAY become a pattern for some very talented local Mandos that are looking to sew their own.  IF we sacrifice my Cosplaysky uni, I told them they had to sew my project in return...
Or it's gonna be a 181st Dress uniform.  We shall see.

I have a Excel spreadsheet that I can send to you.  I list it by movie (ANH, RO, ESB, ROTH), comics, animated, games, etc.  For example the captain rank first seen in the Empire Strikes Back is seen in that movie, Jedi, comics, video games, the Rebels animated series.  If you want to see the specific photo, just ask and I will provide it.

If it doesn't have a listing next to the rank, it has not been shown, but I keep them in there as the logical numerical progression.   I'll send you the file tomorrow.

I do not believe in stifling creativity.  If one person has a rank from a comic book, then all other ranks from comic books should be permitted.  This is the CENTRAL issue as things are not being applied equitably.  The same goes for books, for games, for figures and anything licensed.  As other detachments are able to do this, it is only fair for it to happen here.  There are strict original trilogy troops or just from the movie troops, those lines are drawn from time to time and that is ok and it is a reality of what is asked for.  If you are worried about EU showing up more, they can be filtered out if called for... and they have been.

The permisibility of these ranks have been the policy of the legion for years at level 1.  No one is adding more stringent, more precise accuracy by limiting what can be worn, they are just limiting things from 3 films, imposing their own vision of what these costumes should look like.  If we want to make things look more accurate, we should talk about fabrics.  We used to have people here that had degrees in textiles.  I hope we will be able to convince them to come back.  The proposed fabric runs by @Paggeldiwwer is very encouraging.  It may be the biggest thing to happen here in years to produce screen accuracy, realistic textures and proper colors.

I get what you're saying.  Part of the reason we've never developed a CRL for Republic Officers even though we see them a ton in the Clone Wars cartoon (and why we've been very slow with Rebels variants) is due to the difficulty in making an animated character look correct in real life.  Clone Trooper Detachment has a TON of costumes whose main source is the Clone Wars cartoon, but for them it is a little easier to match the look....for fabric based costumes it does seem to be quite a bit more difficult (at least to me).  Most of the Empire's officer corps began as Republic officers who remained loyal so they're fair game as far as the "bad guy" check goes.  Rebel Legion has only Admiral Yularan (although he would be eligible for us as well I believe).

Yes, our rank badge section that is linked from most of the CRLs is woefully underdeveloped.  There are a ton of rank charts out there (I have three different versions stored on my phone for reference).  The rank bar reference material here (thread started by BJ) is good but we should have some of that information added in connection to the CRL so people can see it as something they should think about instead of just the mechanics of how big the tiles/spacing is.

As far as I checked through the screencaps from ANH there is no other tunic than the Fahrenheit 451.

Shall we do a separate CRL for it or will this end up beeing too much?

What is the FISD doing in a similar case? They have two (!) separate CRL's for the Stromtroopers in ANH (Stunt & Hero) even though they only differ in the helmet-desgin and the number of rivets that connect the Holster to the belt. The ESB-TK als has only minor differences to the one in ANH (frown ist black, Holster moved to the right side and uses Loops instead of rivets) but got his own CRL as well.

If one should state the Fahrenheit 451 is similar enough to leave it with one CRL for the staff officer I say: that is not correct.

The Fahrenheit 451-tunic is completely different from the imperial tunic. That's what makes it worth to get an own CRL for it.

    What are those differences?

    1. The collar Closes on the right shoulder instead of a center closure.
    2. the double-breast has two visible seams at each side-edge.

    3. the double-breast design continues on the back of the tunic which has the look of open pleats running from the shoulders down.

    4. the cuffs are slit.

    5. there is a visible seam just beneath the edge of the codecylinder-pocket-edge

    6. the center of the skirt part in the back is slit on both sides.

The differences concerning the rest of the costume are the silver Clips of the code-cylinders, the flat belt buckle and the single rank-bar.

Here are some pictures from the movie "Fahrenheit 451":

What was obviously altered by John Mollo was the left side of the double breast. They closed the opened pleat and sewed it closer onto the left side of the front. The codecylinder-pockets have already been there from the beginning.

Thats what I saw in the "starwarsscreencaps" and on the Internet so far. Let's collect some more visual prove her.

Following the screencaps and next to the original Uniform they have altered the collar. The one in ANH is higher than the one in Fahrenheit 451.

the Animated Rebels series IS Lucasfilm limited.  The story group approves of all product going out under its name.  That is comics, books, games, toys, including the movies and animated series.  You won't find it written down "double rank badges" because you and I are civilians who have no part of the process.  But I know enough people who have been part of the process and this is what they say.

Anyone with eyes can see that with the new Battlefront game, the last season of Rebels and the comic series...double rank badges appear all there.  You take your rank from a comic series....the only place one would find your rank with that uniform.  I have never seen you with Tagge side burns or his brown hair color, but you wear his rank from the marvel Darth Vader comics.

But don't take my word for it.  Ask Kiri Hart, Rayne Roberts, Carrie Beck, Diana Williams, Leland Chee, Pablo Hildalgo and Matt Martin.  They are all accessible and they make the rules for everything you see on screen and is a licensed Star Wars product.  And they are only continuing what has been around for many years.

how and why did it change to what it is this spring?  Who made those decisions?  Where was the discussion?

I literally have a chart with every single permutation of imperial officer rank and I have noted the ones that come from canon sources, movies, comics, games, books, figures, animation.  I can back up anything I wear with reference photos.

Why is this even an issue at level 1?
Why are some people allowed to wear ranks only seen in the comics and others are told they cannot wear ranks seen in the same comics?
I won't name people, but this is not equitable.

The original CRL prior to this spring brought more consistency than what is currently in place today.

you might have noticed that almost a quarter of the staff officer photo profiles on the legion homepage are wearing double rank badges.

Most of those people can cite where they got the idea for the double rank and why they want to wear it, from comic books and video games and these other sources.

I don't mind the ANH ranks being a default recommendation, but the prohibition on everything else did no one any favors.
