the difference between title and rank.  Titus was in charge of the salvage station in Rebels and was called "Commander" as a title, his rank is something else.  If you hold a command and are the top officer for that billet, you can be called "Commander".  Commander is a term bandied about in all of the Star Wars media regardless of rank.

Captain Brunson's rank is same as that of line officer captains in the Empire Strikes Back.  She has one red tipped code cyllinder.

Her collar and hat devices are similar to other officers found in the Lothal Sector.  And she is giving orders to green uniformed line officers while patrolling the initial construction site of the Death Star, another connection to Director Krennic.

Admiral Brom Titus.  The first staff officer we see in Rebels and he is connected with a new prototype ship with experimental technology.  Likely linking him to Director Krennic and the Advanced Weapons Research.

Lieutenant Titus who is in charge of a salvage station.  Same number of code cyllinders, no change to collar or hat devices, just the rank badge.

I have seen people open them and replace the clips with leather or other material that creates a complete loop.  That way the box doesn't come off the belt at all.

code cyllinders have nothing to do with rank.  We used to think they had something to do with it, but Rogue One has changed that.  Think of them as keys or USB thumb drives.  When Jyn, K2SO and Cassian enter the Scariff facility, they pass by two officers just standing in the hallway.  The junior ranking officer has more code cyllinders than the higher ranking officer.  The higher ranking officer has belt boxes.  These have always been accessories and variable based on the need and preference of the officer.

Now this hasn't been confirmed, but I believe that the double stacked ranks are a combined service that answers directly to the emperor.  Imagine you will the regular army.  The single stacked ranks are at best a national guard that answers the local moff, like Tarkin, but Tarkin answers to the Emperor.  That was the most controversial thing about the military creation act of the clone wars.  No one trusted the republic to have a military of its own.  It mostly used local militaries for operations.  The Death Star was created in the Outer Rim and even the Emperor and Vader were worried about the Senate getting wiff of it, right up until the battle of Scariff.  After the battle of Yavin, the galaxy wide military control was enacted and the single rank bars went away as everything was under the control of the Emperor.

But this explains why you see the double rank badges mixed with single rank badges in Star Wars Rebels and Rogue One.  A fleet admiral is a rank, but it isn't a billet.  Ozzel, Piett, Krennic, Versio and Constantine all have the rank of Fleet Admiral, but only Piett, Ozzel, Versio and Constantine had fleets.  That is because they were assigned a billet with a fleet.  Krennic's billet was assigned to the head of advanced weapons research under the ISB/Imperial Intelligence.  This has a real world analogy with the guy who created the US Navy's nuclear program, Hyman Rickover.  He became a 4 star admiral, but he never had command of a vessel or fleet while a flag officer.  his billet was specific to the navy nuclear program.  I think we will get more of these real world analogies as we get more movies, games, cartoons and other media.

I believe that there are only 6 strata of ranks for both the double ranks and the single ranks, an O-1 through O-6.  Ranks higher than that are political in nature.

For navy: ensign, Lieutenant (jg), Lieutenant, Commander, Captain, Admiral
For army: 2nd lieutenant, 1st lieutenant, captain, major, colonel, general
The color mix of the tiles determine what you do.  blue being navy, red army, amber research.  With a mix of the colors because it is all a combined service.  The green uniforms are the imperial starfleet, white with black hats and trousers, the ISB, Imperial intelligence and compnor and the black being something akin to the SS taking over the entire service.

Very interesting, in this case we trust Mr. Hidalgo. So the next question would be, what kind of Admiral were Ozzel or Piett? They had more Code Cylinders than Krennic. Yes, I always knew about his title. But still thanks for the enlightenment.

I absolutely agree with you 100%, having 6 blue tiles on the chest and "only" being a Lieutenant? Some kind of crazy.

If that's the case, then even more reason to get something official.

That's exactly why I reached out to Glyn - he was a huge help for solidifying the rear helmet box on the AT-ACT helmet. The only mystery we had here was what kind of pants were used, and now we know direct from the source.

The SE-14 has already shown up in a photo with another naval trooper on the set of the new Han Solo movie.  Ron Howard tweeted it yesterday.  As we get more movies set in this time period I expect all blasters to be variable to costumes.

It is interesting that he called this guy "Captain".  It is one of the few times that a rank has been called out by a member of the production staff (other than named in a movie).  The 4 times we see this rank in ANH, it was named both Lieutenant three times and Commander once in the Decipher Customizable card game of 1995, but Lucasfilm owes no allegiance to calling it by those names.  All blue would make him navy, not army.

As these movies go on, we are either going to be creating a LOT of CRLs or we will have to start considering a lot of this stuff as optional accouterments.

Know your setting.  Any game/comic/scifi convention will know who you are.  And the only place where this would be a problem is if you were trooping in public and who troops alone in an imperial officer uniform in public?

I can't think of a situation where this would be a problem.

The people that would get offended by us wearing this uniform are the type that would see nazis under their bed.  Everywhere they look are nazis.  We should be on guard, but we cannot accommodate the uniformed or the simple minded with our absence.

Along with the tweets, I tried to confirm a few other things, first being the gloves. Looking at the screenshots with a little light adjustment, we can confirm that the Captain wears gauntlet style gloves in this image:

Rogue One glove shot by Taylor Goodson, on Flickr

Also, thanks to this picture of a tunic-wearing Navy Trooper in the Rogue One Visual Guide, I think it's safe to say that the gauntlet gloves do not have the three stitching lines on the back:

Untitled by Taylor Goodson, on Flickr

Armed with this new info and the Tweets, I put together a combination of my Staff Officer and my Navy Trooper to get something as close as I could:

Armed pose 1 by Taylor Goodson, on Flickr

Point pose 4 by Taylor Goodson, on Flickr

What I thought was interesting from the Tweets was that Glyn mentioned that this was "security officer...captain." If we were to add a CRL for it, perhaps we could make a third entry for the Navy Trooper in the IOC list - "IN - Imperial Navy Trooper: Security Officer" (or something of that sort) to reflect the distinction.

Definitely exciting to be able to move forward. What do you all think?

I have good news! I reached out to Glyn Dillon, costume designer for Rogue One, via Twitter to help us along with our research. He was a huge help in confirming a detail for the AT-ACT Driver for that CRL creation process, so I figured I would try again. You can check out screenshots of the conversation below (and here is a link to the Tweets directly).

Right now what we need is some kind words. Alexandra (Chuck's spouse) said that he has seen all of the post, photos and well wishes. They are grateful for all of the kind words as they have helped to lift his spirits.

Yesterday Chuck went into surgery yet again and was having a really rough day before hand.  I have not heard how the surgery went, but I know that he has a hard and long road ahead of him.

If anyone has time to post a comment or a photo please do. If you have any troubles send me a message with the Facebook page or here and I will add it to the main thread.

    Thanks again!

My fellow Legion Brothers and Sisters,

I need your help. A close friend, a fellow paramedic, and one of our Garrison recruits was severely injured this past week and has experienced a life-altering event. He has been working on building his Imperial Staff Officer costume within the IOC and was hoping to join the Legion this year. Due to this accident, it will be some time, before he will be able to fully join. Right now, he is currently fighting in our ICU (Intensive Care Unit).

He has a very long and hard road ahead of him, and I’m hoping that if you have the time, you could send him some kind words of encouragement.

buckrogersbarker reacted to IronRanger88 in Wampa Wear VS Tigg wolf Belts
I'm sure this has been done, but I wanted to show you a quick July 2017 quality check on some belt suppliers. I recently bought a belt from our beloved TiggWolf from Facebook. Then my wife finished her Line officer and needed a belt. Because TiggWolf took almost 3 months to ship, I went with Wampa Wear. Got here in 10 days. Here are the differences.
Right off the bat, the Wampa (LEFT) is shiny. It's heavy and coated in something resembling chrome. The TiggWolf is brushed sheet metal.
Wampa has the greeblie screwed in on the back, where as Tigg must be glued? Wampa is also branded
Wampa is heavy and thick. Tigg is light and thin. Not a huge difference, but... There is a huge difference.
Tigg has a small metal piece to secure the belt, The bar that holds the belt to the buck;e is the same diameter.

Wampa is a belt pin and cast belt bar.
Wampa uses a snap, very large in front, good hold, no problems.
Tigg has a screw. I had to grind the screw and nut pin about an 1/8 of an inch to make it tight. It works well now, but it was not very good quality control on their part.
Wampa is using a soft leather. they have used a press roller to put their lines in. They have also branded theirs on the inside and you can see it pressed through the outside. Tigg has used a high quality belt leather and cut in the detail lines. You can barley tell the detail in the Wampa because of the soft leather and roller press method (it will fade over time)
Wampa on top. Tigg on bottom. The die Tigg used was very fresh and was not sealed. I had to seal it myself or it would have rubbed off on my uniform.

Overall, I had to do some work to Tiggs Belt to make it work, but it's a good belt. light and doesn't get heavy or droop. Tiggs is Raw material that I'm comfortable screwing around with to fix, but I was very disappointed that I had to do anything to it with the price I paid and the length of time I had to wait.

Wampa was only $5 more for the set. Very nice in the box. obviously came from china, but they had it in stock so the shipping was fast.

Do your research before buying anything, but I hope this helps!

these are not hard to modify.  Find a local leather worker and see if they can clip the spanish cuffs on the side to make them proper english boots.  I did those with mine and you would never know they were not in the first place.
