  1. As a stormtrooper officer I was reffered as "Police Officer" from a japanese tourist, who asked the way.

Once we were hired in a shopping mall, we entered the mall to the backdoors because it should be a surprise for the customers. Very conspirative action! After we leaved the changing room in costumes, one of the employees behind the scene, who also was not informed about our mission, looked surprised and ask me (whispering) if we are special agents from the german customs and looking for illegal workers. For kicks I said "Yes, of course, we are VERY special agents, but it´s top secret!" I asked her in which shop she´s working. She answered "housewares". I said "Oh good, first we start our investigation in the toy store, but later we also come to your shop too." She nodded her head, said "thank you" and disappeared. The whole day I never saw her again!

Hahahaha! That is so funny! I can just imagine the look on her face.

All I ever get is "Are you Mara Jade?"

  2. I am ALMOST done with my Admiral Daala uniform. The only step left is to attach the clips to my code cylinders. My question: how far down the body of the code cylinder should the clip be? It looks like there is typically about half an inch of cylinder above the clip, but it seems to vary in reference shots. I know no one is going to take a ruler to my cylinders, but I'd like to be in the ballpark. :)

    Thank you!

  3. If anyone is interested I have scanned and am editing my size 12 (it's designed to Butterick sizing- so much smaller than off the rack) tunic pattern. I'm attempting to grade on the computer but I think I'll wind up grading by hand on paper and cleaning up on the comp. I can see me getting from sizes 8-18 without horrible issues.

I would definitely be interested! I tend to be a size 12/14 in sewing patterns (8/10 in off the rack clothes), so it would be about the right size for me.

I am currently working on the mock-up of my pants. The Reconstructing History pattern is okay, but the instructions are horrible. They left out really important steps, like actually sewing the inseam. I'm slowly muddling my way through it, and I think there's a light at the end of the tunnel....

  4. I'm planning to try Reconstructing History's jodhpurs for women: http://www.reconstructinghistory.com/products/rh1014-1910s-1940s-ladies-riding-breeches-or-jodhpurs Has anyone tried this pattern? It's a side button closure, but I like the slash pockets: they should be well hidden under the front of my tunic.

Quick question: Should the closure for the bottom edge of the jodhpurs show above the boot line, or should the closure be down inside the boot? I can't tell in reference pics. Thanks!
