  1. I'm going to get my Tech Wizzard to have a look when he visits for the weekend. It's really frustrating.

I like perusing the articles to find more obscure female crew/officers, and I can't at the moment :(

  2. I tried accessing it through a saved link from last year, (researching a costume I want to do)

I even typed it into Google....

I will clear the history and stuff, (my kidlets have been using my comp for the last few weeks, they broke theirs and it is being repaired :/ )

  3. I have to ask this, and it's probably me being dumb,  but what is up with Wookiepedia?

( I haven't looked at it for about a month or two)

Before I could just go straight into its files and peruse what info I needed ( example for the Firebirds fb page and female officers/crew)

But now it's saying I have to up load some file and log in....

I'm wary of unexplained uploads for my comp.

My Tech support thinks  Wikia has got a sponsor and requires log in , and will also have adverts.

Has anyone had this problem accessing Wookiepedia?

  4. My first costume for joining the 501st is my ISB Officer.

I also have my Biker Scout now, which I prefer to wear a lot of the time as, I'm not seen by ex in-laws when trooping out and about ( don't like going to Car Show troops unless I can be hidden)

I'm also working on a non canon outfit that is for any non canon events, and I have most of it, just have to put it all together after some painting and sewing  :)

And have another that I'm working on in conjunction with a Squadmate. It's just in the planning stage at the moment :)

  5. I thought she would be more in the "Diplomatic Corp" as a Minister of a planet, so she would still seem to be an officer but of a more...public branch.

And she does order StormTroopers about, so to me she is an Officer but not obviously Military, but with some military pull.

  6. No I have princess seams, but I've found the front won't sit properly...  even after 2 and a half years lol

Hmmm will go and chat to a professional Tailor about hidden darts in the lining.

  7. Ok I have an important question, concerning the tunic for female officers.

You guys don't have to worry about this problem, but we women do. And as the only tunic patterns I can find are for men...

Can an officer's tunic, have darts sewn in to the front panels from the side seams, to make the tunic sit better and comfortably along our breasts?

It's a serious question and no funny remarks :P

  8. As someone who has been exposed to the costuming and cosplay forum (I was a costume design major) for quite a long time, I would like to describe how many of the serious costumers/cosplayers (and the professionals) see it:

Costuming is the art and act of creating a costume, usually from scratch, but in some cases by putting together modern clothes to create a 'costume'. Costume designers for stage and theater do not always have to create extravagant costumes. Sometimes a costume is just a pair of jeans, a nice shirt, and the accessories. Every movie, every stage production, broadway play, and even circus act has a costume designer.

Cosplay is a bit more specific. It is a mish-mash of the words "costume" and "play". That does not mean that cosplayers don't take it seriously. There are several professional cosplayers out there (Cupcake Cosplay, Yaya Han, etc) who make very high quality, top of the line costume builds. The clothing itself is costume. The act of dressing up and acting as the character you are dressing as is cosplay.

The way I see it, the act of making our uniforms, armor, et cetera for the 501st is costuming.

However, once we get into character (especially those who are playing specific characters, like Asajj Ventress, or Mara Jade, or Darth Vader) are cosplaying the character.

The words are not interchangeable, but are, in fact, quite symbiotic. I am a costumer, because I design and create costumes; in other words, a costume designer. However, I am also a cosplayer, because when I dress in those costumes, I am taking on the persona of the character I am dressed as.

My thoughts exactly, we are costumers and cosplayers. A lot of us make our costumes, and then wear them and fall into the character.

Seriously, either term doesn't worry me at all. I just enjoy what I do, and enjoy seeing others enjoying costuming/cosplay. I love the effort some put into their costumes, like Highlord Kitiara from Dragonlance Chronicles in England, it's one of the most amazingly accurate costumes I've seen :)
