  1. Brian,

Thanks for your request. On the whole, great job, however I would like you to resolve a couple of minor dressing issues before I grant you Executor status with this uniform:

    • Can you please ensure your belt covers the central seam, ideally resting over your belly button as well. This will help your belt boxes sit better.
    • Can you please pull your jacket down a bit it's a little rucked up, this happens when you've attached the belt.
    • Can you also remove the blousing from your trousers where they meet the boot, this can be achieved by adding elasticated stirrups to the bottom of the trousers.
    • Whilst a warrant officer can be seen with a holster and E11 in ANH, it's not currently part of the CRL, as such can you please remove the holster and E11 for this submission. For Imperator submission we encourage you to emulate an on-screen character, and allow subtle variances to the standard CRL submission.
    • Then submit some new pictures.

    Thanks,

    Phil

  2. For generic officers the hair styling is an optional thing. With the 501st we have 3 levels of accuracy if you want to pursue the higher levels of accuracy we encourage you to try and replicate the look and feel of the officers on the film. So for a female that would be to tie your hair back / up. Some Garrisons may be a little stricter, others less so.

  3. Thanks Gerrit for your submission.

You've a nicely fitted uniform, whilst the trousers are a little rucked up at the back where they meet the boot, in this case I don't think it's excessive or needs correcting.

I understand where you're going with the rank bar, but the black detailing line you've added isn't necessary, or accurate. Can you please remedy this or purchase a replacement rank bar.

Your belt seems to have a minor dressing issue, you shouldn't really be able to see the tongue of the belt - your's can be seen both above and below the strap.

If you can remedy these minor issue issues, submit a new front on picture, we should be good to go.

  4. Steve,

I'm writing this message for the purposes of updating the submission thread, the content has already been communicated via another media.

The rear trouser seam visible above the boot, is accurate and visible in behind the scenes pictures of Grand Moff Tarkin, but it should be hidden by the boot. In order to conceal it I recommend adding elasticated stirrups to pull your trousers in to your boots. Once you've made this amendment could you please provider a full costume shot from the back.

    Thanks,

    Phil

  5. I would advise against those Soviet Boots for Crewman costumes, at a push they would be suitable for Officers - as they are vaguely similar to riding boots, but Crewman require jack boots which look totally different.

In my experience WWII reenactment suppliers and German eBay are your best bet.

  6. Richard,

    Thanks for your submission.

Just a couple of things I would like you to address before I grant Executor clearance.

    • Whilst not movie accurate I believe your trousers require stirrups, and bracers if you don't already have them. They appear incredibly bunch up, the stirrups will reduce the bunching where they meet the boot and the bracers should reduce the bunching around your ... butt.
    • I also think your trousers could do with pressing / steaming to improve the shape of the flares. They also appear to be a little rucked up, and folding back in on themselves.

I think you've done a great job with the rank bar, I particularly like the nicks you've added. Unfortunately you don't appear to have used the cream inner button. I won't hold this 'against you' for Executor but if wish to use push button rank bars (which I definitely approve of) I would like to see them added for an Imperator submission.

I'm also very impressed you've managed to source accurate Stephens Dosimeters. Unfortunately Admiral Motti does not appear to use this style. Again this won't affect your Executor submission, but I would like to see the correct rank bar / code cylinder / belt box / glove configuration. Personally I'd suggest choosing an ESB Officer, you wouldn't need to purchase horizontal belt boxes, though you would need gloves, but you would be able to show off those Dosimeters.

Other than that good all round submission,

    Phil

  7. Steve,

I apologise for not getting back to you sooner, I have been on holiday since CE3, please remember we do this in our spare time, at the moment you are 4th in the list of costumes I need to review.

Your uniform appears to be to a high quality. Though I would like you to make some tweaks before I grant you Executor status. Most of which I have already mentioned here:

Can you please move your hat forwards a little so the peak sits just over your eyes.

Your jacket could do with pressing, it appears to be a little crumpled.

Can you please adjust your belt so that the excess is not folded back on itself and sits under the belt in one continuous section, maybe it could also do with tightening.

Can you please press your trousers and correct the flare of the jodhpurs they appear to be a little crumpled.

And submit new face on picture, in full costume.

    Phil

  8. I've purchased one of the Clothears line officer uniforms, just waiting delivery. Sadly the rush for Celebration costumes has delayed matters.

In my experience they may take their time, but they're busy for a good reason and what you get is worth the wait.

  9. Funnily enough it's closer to the Episode 7 Fleet Officer code cylinder.

Between 1 to 4 per costume may be worn.

    • Basic Style: silver "chalk holder" tube with short clip and blue colored top.

    • Rod style: machined aluminum rod with flaring disc detail at top

    • Dosimeter style: True Dosimeter with correct clip and blue top.

    • Alternate Style: Silver clip with no blue top.

Sadly it doesn't meet the requirements of the CRL.

Personally I would recommend some of the excellent code cylinders sold here on the forum, if you can't get one of the correct model ones.

  10. Fiona,

I apologise for using the picture of the black cap, and I didn't go into detail to explain the background of the cap.

We understand caps are difficult to make, even large professional companies have difficulty producing caps to screen accurate levels.

What I believe we are trying to do is discuss matters and see if there are any 'simple' modifications that could be made.

In my position as Deployment Officer I strive to take all factors into account, when I say a detail is missing in a submission I endeavour to explain what the detail is and how it could be remedied. I know how frustrating it can be to have a submission rejected. My original Imperial Officer didn't pass initial clearance. The costume I submitted for my girlfriend passed on the fifth submission. In resolving the issues I learnt a lot about the costume. I am lucky with my role as Deployment Officer, people come to the IOC and the higher level clearance program with an already cleared costume, as a personal choice, not out of necessity. No matter what my opinions are, at the end of the day they have a cleared costume to 501st standards.

If I look back at the standard of the costumes when I started this hobby and standards and quality now, the improvements are awe inspiring. BUT without these original costumes we wouldn't be here now. We are now 'standing on the shoulders of giants'.

    Phil
