That's the problem with comic art, each artist has a different interpretation. Baron Fel is mine a mine field, every artist has drawn him differently. That isn't to say you can't work towards creating a costume based on a cartoon character. It just takes a little more time. If you are serious about it, I would stick to one artist and make sure you have enough reference to show the character from all angles. You then have the fun of creating a costume which faithfully matches these references ... you can't pick and chose what you like.

I'm working towards replicating the John Nadeau version of Baron Fel, he was the original Baron Fel artist. There is enough reference to show the character from all angles, consistently ... though that project has been on the back burner for a while :/

Apologies for reading cartoon instead of comic, forgot about the Marvel Darth Vader comic series.

I assume this would be treated like a new CRL submission.

You would need clear reference pictures of the character from all angles, then construct a costume to match the reference.

    For example:
    3 code cylinders, without clips
    Belt free of markings
    Single plate rank bar
    Black gloves no markings

    Long black side burns
    Short black hair

I imagine the people who have the plans have produced them themselves, and construct their own cylinders for resale.

Whilst looking for an actors name for Hurst Romodi - bald officer with orange rank in the boardroom scene - I found a high resolution picture of Chief Bast - with another blue haze over his right pocket dosimeter. This has got to prove his second dosimeter is the standard officer blue tipped dosimeter and not alternative dosimeter.
I know I need to get a life I think it's Leslie Schofields impressive sideburns - I think he's a great officer - right up there with Julian 'General Veers' Glover.

I'm in the process of watching the original trilogy and noting the details for the officers (code cylinders, rank bars, etc).
Simple things I've noticed (others probably know this) are Line Officers have horizontal belt boxes and Staff Officers have vertical.
One thing I'd like confirmed is Chief Bast (played by Leslie Schofield). In the 501st CRL it says he has Type C Code Cylinders and not Type A - the more common of types.
I disagree with this. I believe Chief Bast has a Type A Code Cylinder in his right pocket, and a Type C in his left. I believe you can just see the blue of the Type A Code Cylinder if you look closely.

I ask this because I'm looking to produce a Chief Bast costume.

I can't recall seeing great coats in the expanded universe. I've read most of the Dark Horse comics, and can't remember seeing any.

I'd say wait for EP7 and go with General Hux.

I sanded down a Tandy and had a similar problem. I've heard a layer or two of clear coat could prevent it.

I'm off work for a couple of weeks I'll add to my to do list - sand down again and redo it, and hopefully get back to you.

For clarification, for base (Garrison level) clearance a cap is required. Once you have cleared at base level you may resubmit your uniform here for a Detachment review. At Executor level (2) your uniform will be judged more strictly. After passing the executor level review you may resubmit your uniform for Imperator level (3, and highest) clearance. At this point we would like your uniform to replicate a cannon officer.

At this point you could replicate Motti, Tagge, Cass or Romodil who are seen without a cap, but to do so you would need to have passed clearance level 1 and 2, which require a cap.

Again we require costumers to clear with a cap because it has been proven officers who are seen without caps, are also seen with caps.

Hello, i am Alex and member of the 501st/ German Garrison since near 3 years,

due to the fact that many german 501st members in past years used the german army dosimeters, made me thinking how these totally different dosimeter could be transformed into something , more screen accurate. And it must be a cheap way.

So , first what do i need:
some german Army radiation Dosimeter, an original or replica clip, Humbrol Blue 14 or a different blue color, some push button rivets
    .

    Time : 15-60 min

    1. get off the original german clips.

2.Turn around the dosimeter, and put the original british or replica clip on.

3.Squeeze the Push button rivet (female) , with a pliers. Squeeze carefully until you get a little curve to the inside of the rivet.

    4. then glue the prepared push button, onto the now turned around bottom of the dosimeter.

    5. Paint the push button , like on the picture, with blue color.

6: Ready! Put the clip into the correct postion, and you got a german-british dosimeter! A little more higher than i did!

For the clips, i think there are enough sources outside. Sometimes you get also british No.3 dosimeter with the correct clips , for very cheap money at EBay.

I hope you like my little tutorial.

best wishes and greetings from germany

    Alexander

I only salute children in costume, it's something they can relate to and it always makes them smile. Other than that I nod to fellow troopers, or slightly bow to Lord Vader.

The ISB officers do not carry weapons in the film, so they're not on the CRL. As Vertex says for a cannon troop this means no, but a non cannon troop they would be fine.

That's what we get in the end.

    4. Polishing
The ideal variant with fine sandpaper grit (up to 1600).

So. The resulting first part of boxing we polish on all sides with sandpaper (and first movements "top-down" and then "left to right" and then again "top-down"). At the end do not forget to clean the box with a dry cloth.

    II. Rear side box

    1. The procedure is exactly the same. Perhaps only distinguish the size of the elements may become the rear part of the box: 65 mm, height 115 mm, and a thickness of 6 mm.

    2. Mounting the belt.
In fact, I chose the easiest way fasteners. I used a thin leather straps, securing them with screws on the nut.

The holes for the screws is usually performed with an awl. But try prodelyvat holes carefully, not to crush the back of the box.

    III. Bonding of both parts

It's simple. On the inside of the rear of the side portions Boxing couple fatty lines of glue, and then fasten it with the main part of boxing (it should overlap the lid on the box and sit almost perfectly), waiting for 7 seconds and you're done!

When transporting these boxes hurt if they hit just about anything. Or if you're taking them in a crowded bag. The ideal option package - wrap them in something soft.

So far I have been able to make only a vertical option boxes. I am currently working on a horizontal options.

I hope this information will be useful.

    I found the answer!
In Issue 40 of the Star Wars Insider magazine, there's an article about Motti on pages 18-20. The article quotes Mr. LeParmentier, "they had this white uniform picked out, but it was for a guy about 5'5", and it obviously wasn't going to fit. So I was outfitted like the rest and became General Motti."
I wonder if the white uniformed officers were originally intended to be Navy officers.
