I made my own, I bought some aluminium, a metal saw, glue, push button and some magnets. There a bit of an outlay but it was a rewarding experience.

    Chris,
I apologise for the inconsistency of the clearance process. I've been looking at the clearance levels and recently sat down to put into words as to what distinguishes the levels of clearance. I have had conversations with people (501st members) who believe there should only be one level of clearance. I'm against this and am a firm believer in the levels system. It allows people to work up towards the ideal costume image we should all strive towards. Usually accuracy goes hand in hand with cost. Having the levels will then give the option for people on a smaller budget to be included.
I believe the distinction between executor and imperator should be aesthetics and accuracy. Executor should concentrate with the fitting of the uniform, what looks good. Imperator should add more accuracy, with a steady progression between the two.

I am now trying to identify parts that sit nicely in this middle ground, e.g. Soviet boots and these jack boots. Previously I have been more lenient with the Imperator level, judging items against the CRL. With the problems with product availability I'm trying to be more considerate at Executor level, and conversely a little stricter at Imperator level. It's a tough line to walk, I don't want to dilute either of the standards, and I don't want to exclude or alienate people either.

Unfortunately you 'fell foul' of my renewed approach. I have always maintained the uniform suits you well and you really look the part. I've googled the German eBay and they have new EU size 48 boots - US size 13).

We are always trying to improve and revise our standards, what has previously cleared met the standards at the time.

Yes, it still meets the clearance requirements.

To be honest I thought the tunic seemed a little long. But I wanted to have a look at the films again, before I said anything.

I'm seeing Clothears this weekend to get measured up for my new line officer, I'm glad you mentioned yours is ANH styling as that's good to know.

Bit of advice for the Executor clearance, ensure the uniform is nicely pressed and make sure you're standing to attention. As silly as it sounds it makes a world of difference, and it's good practice

We, the command staff, have discussed the Soviet Boots and have come to a decision.

Whilst they do not meet the requirements for Imperator Standard, the leather is too supple and their look and styling isn't consistent with English riding or equestrian boots. We have agreed they do look better than PVC riding boots that people traditional use for base clearance. As such we think they sit nicely in the Executor level - a marked improvement on PVC, but not up to the standard of English or equestrian riding boots, as seen in the films.

This question is more suited the UK Garrison forum. Each Garrison has slightly different 'house rules' by the book for the UK Garrison, as I understand it, you should not troop with configurations or alterations to the costume which haven't been cleared. Furthermore in the UK Garrison we only troop with cannon costume configurations (e.g. we do not allow custom pauldrons on our Sand troopers).

I see part of my role as to try and inspire and guide people in to producing costumes to high a level of accuracy.
I don't penialise people who don't wish to go that far, it's not everyone's cup of tea. I see it as encouraging not alienating.

As I stated above it meets the clearance requirements, this is why I have and will clear lighter brown holsters. Executor and Imperator clearance requests are judged on the costume as a whole. If asked for advice prior to the submission I will give a moon on a stick answer, if I don't how can you aspire to greatness?
What I am saying is if you want to go that little bit extra, above the requirements outlined in the CRL, it would be great if you could get / dye the holster a chestnut brown colour to match the colour of the holsters worn by officers in the film, e.g. the gantry officers Pol (TK421 why aren't you at your post?) Tredium and Malcolm Weaver.
What i like to see is people going that extra mile, it's things like that that inspire people to up their game. And that's the point of Executor and Imperator to up your game and get a top notch uniform that could be mistaken for one in the film?
I was the first person to clear at Imperator level with the Fahrenheit 451 uniform, since then I know of at least 5 people (4 UKG and 1 Russian Oupost) who were inspired by this, and constructed their own uniform is this more accurate styling.
At the end of the day, our uniforms are not screen used, we aren't clones of Peter Cushing, but we can try and do the best we can to give that illusion.

Whilst the quality of the holster is good, it has stiff leather and is formed around the blaster, the colour isn't quite accurate. It meets th clearance requirements, but ideally the colour could be a chestnut brown colour to match the ones seen in the film, e.g. Pol Tredium or Malcolm Weaver.

I have been working on a costume break of the main officers in the original trilogy. This is a long process as I have to watch the film numerous times, freeze framing. I then try to find the actor and character name (very few are credited in the film). So far I have done ANH I'm currently working on ESB.

My usual recommendation is watch the film yourself, identify an officer you like and build your uniform around what you see them wearing. The simplest Staff Officer is Lieutenant Chilsden.

Make sure the magnets are strong enough, with my old cap the disk was a little 'mobile' :/

If you're going to use magnets I'd recommend a thin earth magnet each side (and not just one like I did).
