A less angled strip would have been better, but I'd let them pass.

    Amanda,
On the whole a great submission. I'd like to see a couple of alterations:
I'd like to see the belt moved down a little, I think it would look better if it sat over the center of the jump suit, covering the elasticated area.
I think your sleeves are a little long, on one of the pics I can't see your hand. If you can get those altered that would be a great improvement.

If you have a look at the example picture in the CRL you should be able to see what I mean.
    http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:IC_imperial_bridge_crew

Could I also have some additional pictures, the costume does not need to worn for these:
The cap from the front, so I can see the stitching on the peak is correct.
I can just make out your compad and tools pockets, can you just provide me with a clearer picture of them.
The cargo pocket on the right sleeve.
The pointed collar on the back of the neck.

As silly as it sounds when you submit your revised pics, I'd like to see your hair arranged little more of a military style - pulled back a little more. I understand Juno Eclipse is a little 'free and easy' but that is more due to the fact she's special operations. When she wore her standard officers uniform she's more military looking. I understand bridge crew aren't as formal as officers, but you have to imagine you are on Lord Vaders Star Destroyer - what would he think

As I say nothing here is major by any stretch, on the whole your uniform fits you well. I particularly like your boots, it's getting harder to find boots which have that vintage look.

Good luck, I look forward to seeing the tweaks.

At the beginning of the exhibit, one of the staffers specifically said everything but the stormie helmets and the Han Solo in Carbonite came directly from the archives, although there's a fair amount that's mismatched or has the wrong description.

Absolutely no need my friend. I was planning ongoing anyway so it was my pleasure. Once the staff saw that I was 501st, they kept asking me my opinion about the exhibit. I hope you can edit my pics to bring out the details you would like. It was hard to get all the angles as alarms would sound as you get too close to the costumes. Use them well

It's a shame, for where it does well - the piping on the upper peaks, it's a little let down in other places - the top stitching and detail on the peak. But for those troopers at non cannon events who like to wear berets with their trooper armour, or officer caps with the garrison shirts this is a nice alternative.

    Great find though.

So I was at Epcot the other day in one of the stores and spotted some black officer caps for sale.  These are not MuR or Anovos caps, but made by another source, apparently for Disney.

They need some de-wrinkling but honestly they are pretty decent. They are only one size and the disc would probably need to be swapped out for a different one. But I like the fact that it has the ridge detail on the flaps of the cap.  The price was pretty nice too, if memory serves me it was $24.99.

For clarification, for base (Garrison level) clearance a cap is required. Once you have cleared at base level you may resubmit your uniform here for a Detachment review. At Executor level (2) your uniform will be judged more strictly. After passing the executor level review you may resubmit your uniform for Imperator level (3, and highest) clearance. At this point we would like your uniform to replicate a cannon officer.

At this point you could replicate Motti, Tagge, Cass or Romodil who are seen without a cap, but to do so you would need to have passed clearance level 1 and 2, which require a cap.

Again we require costumers to clear with a cap because it has been proven officers who are seen without caps, are also seen with caps.

I haven't seen a line officer with the gun in the films.

My assumption this is a little like the DK books where the accuracy isn't quite 100%, sometimes they dress costumes what they think is right or looks good.

Agreed Phil.  They are ok, but not great.  But they are also far better then what I have seen many officers using.  Sadly, I have heard some people having some issues with tarnishing of the MuR code cylinders.

Phil, in the past I would have agreed with you about going down a size.  But the last few people who I know who got MuR hats say that the sizing was spot on.  I'm thinking they may have fixed their sizing issue prior to them losing the contract.

As Phil did say, these were the best and most accurate caps you could get at the time.  MuR lost the contract and now Anovos has it.  Now I would say that Anovos has the most accurate hats available, except no one actually has one of their hats yet.  lol

fil5117 got a reaction from Sebastian in Attach Rank Bars
Whilst I'm not sure how rank bars where attached in the films, I wasn't aware of the ANH or RotJ rank bars having holes in the corners. I've noticed a hole on one of the rank bars in ANH (can't remember which, maybe Lieutenant Chilsden), but this wasn't in the corner, and assumed it was just a mark or crap piece of metal. I know a number of ESB rank bars have holes (Ozzel and Sheckil), I never thought this was because these were used as a method of attaching them, but it seems logical.

Personally I wouldn't attach a rank bar with anything that permanently marks the uniform (sewing being highly accurate or not). I'd use earth magnets, one glued to the back of the rank bar and the other loose on the inside the jacket. Yes you may nudge the rank bar and need to adjust it, but it allows you freely change which officer you wish to emulate (I vary between Captain Khurgee, Lieutenant Sheckil and General Veers - depending on whether or not there are other officers at the troop. I find it nice to have a mixture of ranks at the troop - it would look odd if everyone turned up a Grand Moff ). Also as someone pointed out to me "it's nice to see an older person costume a senior officer" ... thanks, I find it a little odd if you have someone in their early twenties playing a Grand Moff ... but I digress

I attach recommend attaching rank bar with earth magnets, add the holes and maybe some fake stitching to imply the rank badge was sewn on - for that real attention to detail.

If you can supply evidence of this stitching in the way of photo's I'd love to see them, I'm always looking to improve the accuracy of my costumes.

I'd go a size down from what you would normally get with a Museum Replica cap, so go with small.

Until recently these were the best caps out there. As long as it fits you, I'd be happy to approve it at level 3.

When Museum Replica's had the contract for Star Wars costumes I had a chance to talk to them at Dragon Con one year.  They stated that the reason why their rank bars came with double-sided tape was because that was what they found on the rank bars that were in the Lucas Archives.  I've never been to the Archives so I can't say if that is really what they found, but that is what they said.

I went with MC for my Veers armour.....message me if you need more details for sure. I've always wanted the AT AT Commander and in fact was the very reason I got my OD line officer in the first place.

    Best of luck!

I have some General Veers armour. The trousers, boots, gloves and jacket are standard Line Officer parts. The lid, chest armour, belt and holster are AT AT Commander (General Veers) specific.

Whilst I'd recommend keeping here for help with the Line Officer part of the costume, I'd recommend heading over to http://www.armoredcavalry.net/for assistance with the armour.
