  1. So at the beginning of this discussion we had five points in which the generic model differs that was the reason to split the CRL in a Generic and a Hask version:

    • Colour
    • Rank bars
    • Belt/Shoes
    • Design
    • Code Cylinder

The belt/shoes were dropped later and the color was at least questioned,

So at the end of the day there are three points left that define that Hask has to be an separate CRL. Rank Bars, Design and Code Cylinder. I'd say congratulations, these are the same arguments that were used to justify e.g. why there's only one CRL for the line officers.

I can only agree with @Tentayena on this one. Nobody denies that Hask shouldn't be a wearable variant as the character has a stressed role for the plot. But the intended decision to split the CRLs mismatches the procdures of the past.

I’ve read all of the Star Wars new canon books. Except that stupid canto bight book I mean seriously who cares about canto bight. The aftermath trilogy was epic It’s watching it like a movie in my head the whole time i was reading it. I loved the final book especially.

I have to admit that i really had to force me through the Aftermath books. Except Jes, Sinjir and Sloane I didn't like any of the characters, especially both Wexleys.

But I'm really excited about  Alliances. I'm curious if we get to know some of the things the Emperor had in mind for the unknown regions, what eventually happened to Eli, what the Chiss Ascendancy looks like in the new canon, if Pellaeon  will be the new sidekick for Thrawn and if we get any snippets of information what happened after the Rebels finale.

Thanks mate “Horst-Wessel-Lied". Was well out of my memory while at work, Iblove this post so far. It is my understanding that Nazi Party Uniforms and symbols are illegal in Germany ?

Yes, the usage of everything related to Nazi Germany or "symbols of unconstitutional organizations"  as it's called, is forbidden by law. Except in the contexts of "art or science", so that they still can use them for example in movies. As a curiosity, the Reichskriegsflagge before 1935 (so without the Hakenkreuz) is still allowed as it's more related to the German Empire.

The  "Hitler Salute" was compulsory for civilians, an edict from the Reich Defense Ministry, in 1933, required the Hitler salute of soldiers and uniformed civil servants while singing the national anthem and another song that escapes me , and in non-military encounters both within and outside the Wehrmacht I.e. greeting members of the civil government). All over occasions they were permitted to use there service salutes.

During the so called Third Reich they only sung the first verse of Deutschlandlied, after that they played "Horst-Wessel-Lied". It was the anthem of the NSDAP.

And as a german I have to say: Yep, they dug a little bit to deep in the dark parts of our history for the First Order. I'm glad that they discarded the collar patches, otherwise it would be nearly impossible to wear First Order costumes (except the teal ones) without breaking the law.

  5. That's the point. We know little to nothing about the time. Only some bits of Empire's End (Sloane boarding the Eclipse), a snippet from Lost Stars (that doesn't fit to the information of Empire's End, so maybe it's an other imperial faction) and Phasma. I'd love to see all these loose strings tied together.

  6. We had R2-D2 on the Enterprise, so why not Groot standing in the corellian sun in the background?

    Regarding the Jon Favreau series:

I'm curious when and where the setting will be. With a upcoming new animated series (It's not conformed yet, but I'll bet on it) from Dave, a new trilogy from Rian, an other movie series from the GOT guys and now the live action series it'll interesting if and which parts are connected.

  7. I'm with Morti, I was left with mixed emotions after the credits. On the plus side: My favorite blue boy is still unbeaten (Deus Ex Machinas don't count), we saw Navy Troopers, the return of some other Thrawn related stuff life the Dreadnaughts and a special captain. I also really liked what they did with Rex and Pryce in particular. I also think like Robert wrote that my first guess got confirmed and the new series will play between ROTJ and TFA.

But before I build a final opinion on some other things I've to rewatch the finale.

On top of that, the GMLs need to be able too understand what is said.

I don't want to get off topic, but as a GML I'll always vote for a detailed description as I'm the one who has to proof the finished costume and I'm the one who has to argue on a factual basis whether or not the discussed pocket is approvable or not. If I only have a vague description that's unnecessay difficult. Also a lot of applicants read through CRL to check if their costumes fit the requirements. I know that the applicants shouldn't do that and come here for advise, but according to my experience in three years being an GML that happens in less then 5% of all applications and we have hundreds a year. So not only the GMLs, but also all applicants benefit from detailed descriptions.

I absolutly agree with @xAlpha that adding good pictures of details to the CRL will be a real help on that front, but as long as this feature is in the development process I'd like to add the details in the text. I'm neither a native speaker nor a tailor, but with a little help from google I was able to solve all obscurities within two minutes until now.

Taking up the original thread again: I'd like to see @GDMorti proposed wording included in the CRL draft.

"code cylinder pocket has a faintly visible seam just below the opening (cylinder pockets are one-sided piped pockets)"

  9. 1 hour ago, nocternus said:

    Where is the seam referenced?

It's part of his posting here and was subsumed by under under the term recessed side-pockets

For level three certification (if applicable):

    • Tunic is secured on the right side by snaps or buttons.
      • Not hook and loop fastener (Velcro).
    • There is no top-stitching visible anywhere.
    • A lining is preferred but not required.
    • The code-cylinder-pockets are constructed as recessed side-pockets

If the wording isn't  comprehensible enough we could rename it into jacket breast pocket. If someone needs to get an idea what this means, google will give him enough visual samples as they all are sewn in the same style.

  10. Marc included the seam as part of the construction of the code cylinder pockets:

I'll have to check the refeneces as I'm in the office atm, but if the groves are present we should add the following point for lvl 2:

Belt has a groove 1/4" from the top and bottom edge along the length of the belt.

  11. Great research Patrticia! Great to see that all visual references match perfectly together... not. As we have now two different configurations, meybe the following could be a solution. For the general approval I'd like to take the VD variant as the 'general' configuration and the on-screen configuration as a Lvl. 3 variant as it fits into the requirements in the Stevens draft:

For level three certification (if applicable):

·Belt box, code cylinder, and rank badge configuration is consistent with

    film canon officers.

As for the funny looking boots, I'm no fan of them. But I think this is the only (or one of the few) shot where you can see the boots of an Officer.

Thanks for your input Scott. But no one is interested to splitting them up in several CRLs for every role they have within the imperial order. Things like this can be explained in the opening text of the CRLs. So to me there will only be one, no confusion ;)

I have to check my screens when I'm back to work. As long as the majority of the Staff personell wears the 'classic' boots I see no reason to include the 'FO' boots. At least we know now that they recycle everythimg they have at Pinewood.

And don't worry Stefan, I didn't want to hijack this thread to start a discussion about wther or not to change the name of the Line Officer CRL.

And I'd also vote for a single additional CRL beside the ANH variant, whatver the name will be.

What about the name I found for the green officers in Rogue One? On page 117 of the Star Wars Rogue One - The Ultimate visual Guide Captain Shaef Corrsin, which is wearing what we call a line officer uniform, is called a "Imperial Navy officer". I would really prefer to call them "Imperial Navy officer" instead of line officer and it does also sound a lot better as the name Starfleet officer that @buckrogersbarker suggested, which sound to much like Star Trek to me.

I think that the name Line Officer was used as it's not sopecified to a miliary branch as army or navy. If we define the Imperial Army as part of the Imperial Navy I don't see a reason not to use "Imperial Navy officer". General Tagge leading all fleet operations after the destruction of the Death Star suggests that there aren't two different chains of command.

Do you think it's best to say "notch", or perhaps "slightly rounded"? Some people might interpret "notch" as a small chunk out of it. Maybe also include the tiny pin-holes mentioned, in L3.   Looking great so far!

    I meant the small pinholes
