No problem, that's why we're here. Always nice to see the "white-cape-front" growing as it is a great costume. Goof luck that everything is proceeding as planned!

I agree with Kris concerning the Rank bar. I'd like to add an other point für level 2 or 3 (I'm unsure on the correct level). I highlighted it in green:
Rank Bar
For 501st approval:- See the Imperial Rank Bar page for more information.
- Worn on the left side of the tunic over the heart.
- Rank consists of colored plastic tiles mounted on metal bar.
- Each bar is 1" (25.4 mm) height,
- Rank tile dimensions are 1/2" (12.7 mm)width x 3/4" (19 mm) height and about 1/8" (3.2 mm).
- Tiles are mounted with 1/4" (6.4 mm) spaces between them.
-
Rank tiles can be translucent.
For level two certification (if applicable):
- Multiple tile rows are made from two separate metal strips, one atop the other and meeting together flush.
- There's a small visible notch in every corner of both strips.
- 6 Red tiles for upper bar 6 blue for lower
For level three certification (if applicable):
- Rank consists of colored plastic push buttons mounted on a metal bar
- Push buttons are opaque
I just got the right screenshot. From this perspective it looks like there's no modesty panel:
-
They look really nice and the price is also attractive. There are no visible decorations but correct snaps and as a bonus there's no inner lining that your hands get baked in summer. Congratulations!
-
I'd also keep the lining in there and if it's just for the wearing comfort. We haven't seen an open uniform in the game and I think it'll stay this way, but IMO we can assume they'd add it.

I think it was Glenn Dillon himself that stated that the Rank sheet he posted from Rogue One was also used for Solo. So it's most likely that they also use the same uniforms.
And regarding your CRL proposal I agree 100% with you and Marc.

As I mentioned minutes ago on the other ISB CRL thread, with all the reseearch done by Patricia this CRL draft should also be released. Both uniforms may share the same progenitor, but developed in very different ways. IMHO different enough to be split in own CRLs. Hopefuily we see one of these in May on the big screen to get more pictures.

I just read your research thread again and it's detailing is awesome. If we consider all you managed to research I'll support to split the different versions of the ISB in two seperate CRLs. Maybe it could fit in one CRL if the new system is used, but I think two seperate CRLs are clearer to read.

It would be interesting to get to know you they're attached. The cape looks like as if you can't raise your arms without dropping it, so it must be fixed somewhere. Maybe they used the drawstring under the armpit from Kylos cape in TLJ? I can't imagine they sewed snaps on all the uniforms to attach it.
-
I had to check twice the CRL, but yes, it's in there. I'm wondering why, because it was in none of the drafts Franzi and I submitted and it wasn`t in the final version that was posted here. There is only the advice that whatever closure you use it should be hidden. Very confusing.

I read the comic and the cadets never wore a helmet. We could discuss wether it's something only army recruits wear, or it's special to a certain academy e.g. Coruscant without and Lothal with helmet. But in the end we have different sources with different results. I don't see any reason to give Rebels a preference and dump the Thrawn comic, especially when the optional helmet would allow both versions.
-
The draft looks fine to me, I've only one suggestion for the Rank Insgnia.
As the CRL for Hux just got an update I'd prefer to use a variant of the description used there:
Admiral Rank Insignia, First Order
For 501st approval:-
Rank consists of two black bands, approximately 1" wide, completely attached to the sleeve so as not to appear loose.
- If stitched down to the sleeve, the stitching is not visible.
- The edges of the bands utilize red and white piping or a red and white embroidered line on each side as visible in the picture
- The two black bands are no more than 1/4 to 1/2 an inch apart.
- Worn on the left side of arm, above the wrist and below the elbow.
For level two certification (if applicable): - The edges are embroidered.
With this wording we'd have the same details for both double-band Officer-CRLs

Gotta say this was the highlight of my reading the comic book so far
Now we just have to patiently wait for a proper bearded officer....
(and I need to do a rerun of the 9th bearded patches)
really enjoyed reading the first issue and its got be re-reading the book again
Please tell me when you're doing a run, in Germany are a ton of members who'll want it! (including me as part-time bearded officer)

I knew there was a black "Major" Uniform in the elevator scene, but the only pictures I gort were crappy caps from semi- to illegal streams were it looked like single rank band. According to the ranks we know from the TFA Visual Guide that would make this one a General. Which doesn't make any sense as we see other Generals standing in the crowd wearing the Hux tunic.
Maybe it's something that wasn't mentioned yet like a Commodore or some specialist like Group Captain. That would also explain why he gets snapped by Kylo.

Shouldn't we change the requirements für the code cylinders? I'd like to see the research provided by Kalei as the reference for Lvl 2:
Code Cylinders
For 501st approval:For 501st approval:
- Two code cylinders are worn on the uniform, one in each cylinder pocket.
- Modified: silver "chalk holder" tube with short clip, top is colored Blue.
- Dosimeter style: True Dosimeter with correct clip and Blue top.
For level two certification (if applicable):
The code cylinders are exact replicas of the digital model in Battlefront 2.

From the two actors of those roles, they said that it was an Anovos "Classic"Jodpurs". which on picture it do look like it is.
And the outfit design, it do make scenes of the pants to be the colonel/major pants instant the FO wrap pants. Thanks for the input Joey, I must have missed/forgotten this information. That would make the Admiral uniform a descendant of the old fleet uniforms.
-
If the tunic isn't to close-fitting, it should be possible to add the seam without any disadvantages.
-
I neither said that you're wrong, nor that I'm right. I just said that these COULD be the First Order style trousers, but for me the picture is to blurry to validate that, as Marc also said in his post:
On 7.2.2018 at 8:22 AM, Paggeldiwwer said:Maybe it's a game of light and shadows? Difficult to tell. If I try to zoom in I only get bigger pixels. Do we have a picture with a better resolution?
That's why I asked if there are any other behind the scenes shots. Because IMHO we need at least one of the following two questions to be answered: Either what trousers wear the confirmed admirals, ot if the two guys in question are admirals and have their trousers flares or not. That these trousers of the two officers we're talking about have rounded breeches is popularly accepted through the screenshots.
I agree if this looks a bit like nit-picking what I'm doing here, but these were the arguments in the discussion whether there should be a CRL for the First Order General or not over in the GWL forum. So we should go the extra mile and avoid this discussion if we're able to.
-
They all look the same from the rear, the main difference between the "old" and the "new" style is the flare in the front and that the "new" one are a bit wider. The silhouettes are all nearly the same as Tarkin approves:
-
They look pretty clear in the cut scenes and are normal Jodhpurs:
-
Tbh, I'm with @Paggeldiwwer on that one. That could be anything, from Hux trousers over "classic" Jodhpurs to something unknown that's just ill-fitting. But if we get behind the scenes pictures like the one above, I'm confident we'll get one where we can clearly identify the trousers on these guys.

May be it is to make it different from hux at least.

I don't think Hux is that special. A statement from the costuem department would be a great assistance as the outcome could habe consequences on other CRLs as well.
@Exaldear Could you please copy the pics in here so we have the Refernces for the CRL all in one place? Like Stefan I can't remember there was a clear shot of the pants so the "Hux-style" is confirmed.
-
So that's a pretty clear shot that confirms the "capes". What I'm not sure about is did they chosse this design because they wanted a cape for all officers or did they search for a quick and dirty way for all officers to look like as if they're wearing coats without the effort to actually sew them?
-
As mentioned before:
Wearing one of the most stylish uniforms, standing on the polished deck of an imperial (maybe Super) Star Destroyer, surveying the miles of durasteel stretching in front of me. And thinking about the fact that this beauty is equipped with enough manpower to conquer a planet or the firepower to devastate it. Because sometimes a Manifesto IS better than a statement.

I forgot to ask this question: How much do you usually pay for the cape?
I got the whole uniform commissioned and in addition bought the fabric myself, so I don't have an exact comparison. But if I add the fabric und partition the total on the three parts it ought to be a bit less than the prices mentioned.
Staff Officer (black) CRL Update to R1 specifications

Mh, if it's correct that the black uniform they used in Rogue One will also be seen in Solo I don't think it's a good idea to name in after one movie. But I don't like "Pre ANH" , BBY Staff Officer" or other variants either.
We could go for "security service"s for the uniforms before and "staff officer" after ANH, but I'm afraid that will confuse people more than it helps.
