  1. As an Officer you can yell at people , it's super effective when you need to clear a path for your half blind Stormtrooper soldiers , or when you need to keep a specific location clear , say ... Around some props at Celebrations because people can't read " Don't touch " signs

    Exactly this -- I mean I'm a handler in the most in-character sense.  :)

  2. Regarding magnets , i'd love to know where people find magnets strong enough to keep anything together in the first place , especially while assembling armours !

You can buy Neodymium "rare earth" magnets at home improvement stores. They're rather inexpensive, and come in packs of 3, 6, 12 etc.

For my hat disc I epoxied one on the back of the disc and another slides inside the front flap. Holds firm and can be repositioned easily if needed.

  3. Explain Rex then...he hardly qualifies as a "bad guy" under any criteria, yet is proudly counted as a 501st character.

Regards to Tuskens..jawas..etc...they are accepted by both groups because they are basically neutral factions.

Clones are shown in the films to be on both sides of the coin :) They started out "good" against the Separatist Army, but then the tide was turned with Order 66.

  4. Sorry, somehow didn't catch that it was already a thing. That's what I get for only checking the first google result.

If they've always been accepted by both RL and 501, then it's probably because they fit with neither. As far as I know, the Empire has never hired them. Being a "bad guy" doesn't mean you go on the Empire side. I assumed the bounty hunters get stuck with the Empire because the Empire actively hires them.

The groups identify themselves as "good" and "bad" in a rather black & white way, which is why I was saying that the Tuskens are never seen as being remotely good so they really shouldn't be seen in the RL. I know people who are in both groups with the same costume, and they always tell me to join the RL as a raider... and I feel it's just wrong! :)

  5. Look like they'll be valid for both. Definitely weird to just have on the Rebel side.

I'm... already an ANH Tusken in the 501st Legion. What I was saying is I don't think Tuskens have any place in the Rebel Legion because they are never, ever portrayed on screen as being anywhere near remotely "good" - and the AOTC Tuskens, though Anakin slaughtered the 'innocent' members of the clan, it was as a direct result of the torture/death of his mother at the hands of the rest of them.

  6. That's why I brought it up in The Officer's Lounge. I plan on being 501st official with my Staff Officer. The Twi'lek smuggler is separate.

Twi'Lek Smuggler would fit in with the Rebel Legion. They're somewhat looser with the standards than the 501st.

I'm not in the RL yet, even though they accept Tusken Raiders in it. To me, that's a foolish character to allow for the 'good guys' -- there's nothing 'good' about any appearance of a Tusken in any film. They beat up Luke Skywalker, they shoot at pod racers/Anakin Skywalker and they torture/kill Shmi Skywalker.

They attacked three generations of Skywalkers, two of which were good/innocent. One started out that way, but... well... Part of his fall was THEIR FAULT.

  7. They can still pick and choose parts of the EU that they want to use, but I think the clone Emperor is a little far-fetched. I wouldn't rule out seeing Vader as a flashback or hallucination though

This is what I thought as well - they seem to have brought back/created a Vader figure for the toy line, and he's the only 'original trilogy' character who has a new TFA figure (in his original form). I'm thinking he makes an appearance in a Force Cave-type scenario.

  8. I went to the Star Wars exhibit over the summer and saw quite a few costumes from the movies. Took a ton of pics, and as I was just re-reviewing them, I noticed something.

Anyone know anything about this sidearm? I wish I had taken more pics while I was in Seattle...

Just something to note: A lot of times, these costumes on display at exhibits are "frankensteined" to present the "best impression" of the film. They are not always accurate.

I'm posting from my personal experience. I saw the Myth of Magic exhibit at the Smithsonian in the early 2000s, took about 80 pics (even though you weren't supposed to). It was when I was researching for my Scout armor in 2008/2009 that I remembered I had the pics, and I quickly found how 'wrong' the costume on display was.

  9. found this on RPF http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=245095     not bad the color isn't bad I like the shift in color with the uniform depending on light temperature which is like the show. I hate the collar insignia's I think making pin version will look better but the chest and back came out nice. the helmet seems big on him

That guy has posted here on the IOC as well.

I would give you a link to it but I can't find it all of a sudden...

Anyway, he says that the helmet was large when he got it, and he didn't have time to make a new one so he modified it as best he could.
