All very valid points brought up.
So far I've only done my Science Officer in a convention type scenario. Usually in any of my officer suits I get heckled by the people I troop with, "Oh look Bobby threw on a new rank bar he's a new character, better add to his list of costumes" and so on
Yes, there will be the "lazy" members that will do this as the quick and easy because they can't find riding boots in five minutes for only $1
But those people can right now get approved in the Science Officer or version 1 of the ISB
To be blunt, if this Service Dress uniform was a thing about 6 years ago when I first started looking into joining the legion it probably would have been my first costume. The green suit it what I really wanted first, but at the time it was such a pain to get a green hat, so I went black instead and now I don't even have that suit anymore (it's been passed down to a member's son, just waiting for him to turn 18). -
Different points of view I guess.
I'm seeing it as the perfect con suit, the "I've been trooping all morning and I'm tired, but I want to be suited up in something comfortable to do table duty" Chelsea boots are more comfortable then jack boots, I'm sure most of us will agree to that
Would I tell someone just looking to join the legion to do this costume first right off the bat? No.
Would I tell someone just looking to join the legion to do this costume first if they want to be an officer but they're struggling to find the boots, and I mean really struggling not "I spent an hour on ebay and couldn't find anything less then $50" struggling - yes
Right now anyone can join the legion as a Science Officer, how would joining in this Service Dress be any different (other then having more options on rank bars and not just the 1)?

@Mitthrawnuruodo your tone is perfectly reasonable.
I feel like the best entry level costumes are our very own Crew costumes. Bridge or Scanning.
But I do understand your point.
And sloppy officers are a problem already, you're right.
Healthy discussion. I like it!
My tone came off reasonable because I've learned to just spell out "I'm not angry fighting, just passionately arguing" it makes things a lot easier haha
Yes Crewman is a great entry costume, because crew turn into TIE, Gunner, AT-AT Drivers, etc... (I honestly wish I would have just started there myself)
But jackboots can still be problematic. I'm going to use a very close friend of mine as an example. She's 5'4, has tiny feet (as in can still wear larger kids size shoes), but has huge calves. Her proportions make jackboots near impossible without having to go with the custom made route. She's approved with two masked/helmeted legion costumes, but really wants a costume without a mask/helmet that she can be comfy in and do table duty when needed. Service dress is the perfect costume for her. She can sit, she can get accurate boots that fit, she can support her Empire!
This is a reason why I want this costume to happen so much. For people like this.

I'm just afraid that the low boots, straight trousered, no hat option is going to lead to a bunch of sloppy(?) looking officers.
Especially for Staff officers, who are gonna look from behind like they're just wearing a black suit.
I now move that the Science Officer CRL be changed to "Off Duty Officer" and that it have two configurations: Line and Staff.
And the rank bar worn with this new CRL will have to be one that is seen on screen in conjunction with that uniform.
That gives two people a chance to be CRL models. One on each tab. Bonus!
I know text does not convey tone so I apologize if any of this comes off angry/argumentative/etc.
So basically those few of us approved as Science Officers would technically already be approved as Service Dress.I'm fine with the Science Officer being a 3rd tab under the same CRL since it specifically calls for the white cuffs while the other two do not.
I've seen tons of sloppy looking officers, people who looks like they crumpled their uniform into a ball and threw it in a bag, forgot about it for a month, and then threw it on last minute. Hat, no hat, knee high boots, ankle boots, that's not going to change someone not taking care of their uniform.
The Service Dress uniform is probably going to be the easiest costume to get people into the legion. It's going to be a lot of people's first costumes. And probably even more "comfy con table duty" uniforms. It's going to offer people a chance to get an officer suit without having to break the bank finding shoes if they can't fit into a stock size. This is the reason why I want to see this CRL happen so much. I know of at least 6 people in my garrison and countless more that will buy this costume and join the IOC the minute this CRL goes green. Why don't they join right now? Because they can't find the knee high riding boots!
Is being called a Nazi any better or worse then just looking like a guy in a black suit?

Tarkin - No hat
Science Officer - No hat
This Service Dress uniform would be an off duty no hat scenario. I could see this being the proper Imperial attire for something like a wedding or funeral. But that's just speculation and kind of irrelevant.
If you want to wear the hat with this that seems like a local call on your local command staff. Something that would be fine for the weekly events but for the big LFL invitation events you'll need to match the CRL 100%

I'm going to see if she's like Beetlejuice...

Looks great!
I'm sure this question came up already, but I don't feel like reading through a year+ of old posts, would the CRL for this be Rebels Officer, and Konstantine would be a higher level thing?

I’m currently building a Jawa, purely because I was struggling to find riding boots wide enough for my calves,so I had to give my preferred build of a staff officer a miss.
If this CRL comes off,it’s going to allow so many more people to become officers, and get rid of the riding boot problem for good.
This is a very common problem, and will help out a lot of people. It’s one of the reasons why so many of us are trying to make it happen.

I’m a science officer so I’d rather not see that disappear but it’s a small price to pay for the service dress to happen.

Different version, optional accessories, either answer is good as long as a person can get approved in the option of Chelsea boots, straight leg pants, and no hat.

"see anything clearer" as in see anything different then what's been said/listed above?
Nope. But I might be blinded by the fact I want this costume to happen (it's a guarantee to get more IOC members!)
I'm ready to retake the photos for the green suit with a 6 red rank bar if we're ready to move forward.

Exactly what details are we looking for?
It's not like it's a huge leap of faith that they would be the same uniforms used in Rogue One, so logically the standard suits we're all use to would be fine.
This movie and all its fun lighting from scene to scene make details difficult.

This happened to me way back when Rogue One was coming out into theaters but I don't think I shared the story...
I was working at a comic shop at the time so I decided to wear my suit to work (and then troop in it after work).
I was standing behind the counter doing whatever task I needed doing and then a man ran up, and screamed to his wife in the back of the store, "Hunny, come see General Huxley over here!" and then started taking pictures of me.

I think matching Pryce suit style would be a good start, the colors aren't exactly the same as Pryce's

Has anyone taken the steps to work on the text for the CRL?

What an awesome idea, great job Benn, I really hope to see you make this happen

Nice outfit, but I think 6 blue tiles are only for Staff, at least with the reference pics we have yet. Line rank bar are 6 red tiles with 2-1 dosimeters config until new references comes out.
I have a large collection of various bars so retaking this with a different bar on isn't difficult, for basic this should be a fine combination, but if new photos are needed it's no biggie, might give me a chance to make my hair look a little better

Yep! Those are perfect and show exactly what we've been talking about for these suits.
If we're ready yo move onto that next step I'll happily take some photos this weekend in my green suit in this style.
Question... do we think for the CRL it's going to have to be "match this style" as far as code cylinders and rank bar, or will it be like the Line Officer CRL and mixing/matching will be acceptable?

Line/Staff Officer Service Dress, proposal.
