I don't remember what event this happened at (somewhere in Michigan though), a youngling told me I must be a looser since I didn't have armor for protection...I was in my IC coveralls...ha!

With my ISB, I had someone yelling to me (it was a parade) "Thrawn!  Thrawn!" and someone else asked where my cape was.  Close enough.

I know not everyone is a Star Wars expect, but I've gotten called some really bizarre names while trooping...
Staff Officer - "Police" "Captain" "Republic"
I haven't been called a Nazi yet, BUT I was wearing my uniform when I had the honor of meting Carol Spinney (the Muppet performer who does Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch) and all he wanted to do was tell me stories about Nazis. Very awesome talking about Nazis with Big Bird.
    ISB - "Waiter"
Navy - "Dark Helmet" "Rick Morranis" "Space Balls"
Gunner - "Darth Vader" "Darth" "Daft Punk" (I loved the guy that called me Daft Punk, it was at the St. Patty's parade, the guy was screaming at me that he loved my albums, he was very drunk and very angry. I guess he hates that he loved Daft Punk...)

    Welcome Julie!

Looks like you've already gotten some great advice here, I'll add my own story of when I first joined. The first costume I was approved with was a Warrant Officer, later upgraded to also be a Staff Officer, I've since retired that costume and sold it because I never really loved it, I just did it because it was easy. I wouldn't recommend going for what's just easy to do and focus on what you're actually passionate about, you'll enjoy trooping in it more that way

All that said there's nothing wrong with going with something easier for the fist costume and saving up and gaining info for a bigger harder build all while having something to go out and have fun in. I know my advise might seem a bit contradictory, it's because there's no right answer here, it's all about what you want to do.

What part of PA are you in? I'm in Pittsburgh. There are plenty of members all over the state with IOC knowledge whether you're in Western PA, Starkiller Garrison, or Eastern PA, Garrison Carida, there's local members to you willing and able to help you out.

Someone on the legion boards posted this quote about them from the visual dictionary, "The CBPD was notoriously corrupt. Every law and regulation in the city was negotiable, depending on the wealth of the suspect or the accuser. As such, the CBPD was both a byproduct and aide in the city's tiered society, with the wealthiest having the greatest sense of security and immediate access to justice—a flexible concept in Canto Bight."

So with that description is does sound like Underworld would be a good home for them.

This is fair, but detachments are usually a good hub for a costume in development to receive input and help from members of the detachment it's gonna end up sitting within? Building a new to legion costume in isolation is.. daunting. Having an idea of where it might sit and reasonably agreeing upon it so that a builder might take advantage of a detachments resources and member knowledge can only be beneficial!

I started on one for fun, but to be honest, I kind of lost interest and put it on the backburner. lol.
Most of what I made was from scratch, but I made the helmet using a snowtrooper helmet as the base.
Here's a few pics of me wearing my rough-draft of it at DragonCon.

Disclaimer on Wolfe, though I've never had an issue with them, I've been told that others have had problems with breaking out after using it.
For me, it goes on very easily, comes over very easily, the only spots where I have any wipe off is on my lips and a little around my eyes.
I'll find some pictures of the various costumes I've done using their paint and post them (one is from a different Star franchise...)

I personally use Wolfe paints when I feel like be a Mirialan, Pantoran, Zeltron, or Chiss X-Wing pilot.
Someday I'll get around to doing Thrawn... he's been my favorite for years... I'm just too frugal to buy a new uniform haha

well that is nonsense, most of the comics and other non fan art has both configurations, the CRL should be amended to reflect that.

A while back I tried to get a "generic moff" CRL approved, the idea was shot down as just being the same as a Line Officer.
I also tried to get a Jagged Fel CRL approved, there's just as much official art of him as there is Daala. I was pretty much told that if I would have tried to do Fel 10 years ago I'd have a chance, but not now.

The argument comes back up about once a year of why we, the IOC, don't do CRLs of specific characters.
Our list of CRLs is already quite long and insane could you image if Veers, Panka, Piett, Needa, etc. all got their own separate CRLs

Personally I would love it if we could in fact have a gallery in the CRL of "approved face character options" or something similar. "To be Veers you must have..." etc.
That's pretty much what the level 2 and 3 stuff is for.

I know none of this is the happy answer you wanted, but a story showing that I totally understand what you're going for and dealing with. Best hope you have is that your GML is cool and will understand that CRLs aren't made based on individual characters but trooping in a cannon configuration is encouraged.
