If the current Line/ISB CRL can be changed and updated, great.
I wouldn't hold my breath. In 5 years I've seen the hats vs. not hats debate come up more times then I can remember. As noted previously, obviously nothing happened otherwise the topic wouldn't be coming back again. None of us are the CO or XO of this detachment so it's up to them if they want to make this change (if this was a debate about Gunners, then I could actually do something LOL)
 
Personally, I'd rather see the Service Dress become a new CRL.

I know optional hats for Line Officers has been brought up many times before.
While there are plenty of example of them without, there's more examples of them with. Every Officer in ESB and ROTJ has them and there's many in ANH and R1 that do.
 
I don't think we should be trying to change that CRL (yet), I think getting this one up first is a higher priority.

R1 and ANH have many (more in ANH obviously) hatless officers.

A lot of things regarding the uniforms "would make sense" or would be "logic" compared to real life uniforms, but we don't have them in the CRLs because we didn't see them on screen. So I think it's pointless to discuss these things, let's focus on what we saw in SOLO, if we get additional material later we can still add it.
Tarkin is also never seen with a hat and there is no optional hat in the CRL, although he has a hat in the "Tarkin" novel. So there should be no hat in the CRL, you can always wear a hat if your GML approves it or for a non-canon event.
 
That's my opinion on that matter. I'm a big fan of a more comfortable uniform and want to see this happen.

Either way, whether these become their own CRLs or variant options, it's going to help the IOC numbers grow.
I know quite a few people that want to have officer uniforms but due to medical issues can't wear the knee high boots, or just can't find a pair that fit.
Selfishly I would like it to be another CRL so I can add another officially approved costume to my roster LOL
But I think this has been a very good discussion and can't wait to see the outcome.

I don't hate splitting up by era, the current system of Officers, Crewman, Navy isn't terrible, we just need a way to break up all those Officer costumes.

Looking at Patricia's screen shots it looks like the guys in green are wearing single rows of all the same colors of red and yellow/amber.
Which would make sense from a prop maker stand point, much easier to just have a row of the same color instead of mixing and matching.

I'd like to see these costumes be separate from the Science Officer, since the Science Officer specifically has the cream colored shirt cuffs.

Slightly arrogant, "Yes yes we are here, I am here, I am important." without being rude is a good route, a lot of "Hello citizen" kind of stuff. Bark some orders to the troopers, just because you can, "Trooper stand up straight, move over there, stop dancing, etc.."
Officers are professional, loyal imperials, but that doesn't mean we have to be A-holes.

Ohh yikes, I did not know that.

I have a variety of alien X-Wing pilots (Mirialian, Zeltron, Pantoran, and Chiss for now) and I use Wolfe brand paint for all of them. Very easy to get, easy to apply and remove. Minimal amount of rub off (mainly around my lips)

It always sucks when someone passes away

Since I am not the one to ask this question, I asked my 6 year old daughter why she wanted me to get an officer uniform for her.  Her reply was that they stand really  tall and can tell the stormtroopers what to do.  Her scowl is coming along quite well.   

To be 100% honest...
I started in the IOC because I thought it was going to be the quickest, easiest, and less expensive option to getting into the legion.
I was correct on all of that haha!
 
When my wife and I started our goal was to march in the Star Wars Weekends parade for our honeymoon. Which we did!
We both had our first approved costumes in the IOC. Warrant Officer for me -now retired, and Scanning Crew for her -also now retired
But, our retired costumes turned into first approved costumes for 2 other members so we're just spreading the love!

I was wearing my Gunner today and was asked if I was from Space Balls... it was bound to happen.
But not long after that I played the statue game (stood really still and waited for some people to try and poke me to see if I was real... I love having a bucket!)

I know not everyone is a Star Wars expect, but I've gotten called some really bizarre names while trooping...

I haven't been called a Nazi yet, BUT I was wearing my uniform when I had the honor of meting Carol Spinney (the Muppet performer who does Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch) and all he wanted to do was tell me stories about Nazis. Very awesome talking about Nazis with Big Bird.

Navy - "Dark Helmet" "Rick Morranis" "Space Balls"
Gunner - "Darth Vader" "Darth" "Daft Punk" (I loved the guy that called me Daft Punk, it was at the St. Patty's parade, the guy was screaming at me that he loved my albums, he was very drunk and very angry. I guess he hates that he loved Daft Punk...)
