  1. Damn , i wish they wear making sales on the whole website , i could get back into Reenactment a lot sooner than expected

Hessen Antiques ' riding ' boots don't have the " spanish cut " top on the boots , more like the regular flat top used in most armies , so i'd watch out because it wouldn't pass L3 ( since it wouldn't be an exact replica of English dressing boots ) . Even with the sales it still some pricey boots , it's sort of a shame that you couldn't get past L2 with them

  2. If you attempt to make the costume , you can rest assured , i'll closely follow your build :P

As you mentioned there are not many references for the costumes , apart from the few official illustrations . I'd mostly go the the right side illustration , it looks really great .

It may either be a black jumpsuit , or a two part suit , which a lot of armies wear , they just wear the vest tucked into the trousers .

I think that the shoulder strap is indeed connected to a belt , probably similar i some sort to Imperial Officers belt . I've never seen someone wear such a strap connected to nothing :)

As for the blaster , aka " charric " , you can find references on Wookieepedia and screenshorts from KOTOR and Galaxies , in which they first appeared .

  3. Honestly it'd keep away from Anovos as much as possible .

I received my TK about 2 months ago now , although i ordered it May last year which i ordered for my Birthday ( again , last year ) , basically when i came back from Celebration Anaheim . I wasn't quite expecting to get it for my birthday this year ... We knew that it would take them time to get everything shipped but by selling OT kits at 350$ they should have expected the huge amount of orders that resulted in many delays and setbacks , even for First Order kits which one of my Squad mate has . Also , i only just received the soft parts of my armour , which i have now already purchased because i couldn't wait endlessly for them if i wanted to try out my TK . So that's already one and a half bad mark for Anovos , let's make it two because they don't even do S sizes undersuits , so i currently have an M undersuit that i want to get rid off . Also , i never found any sort of " seal of quality / approval " in my box , which they should put on somewhere . And as BJ mentioned , they trimmed their helmets like pigs , you have to trim the lenses further back because it's looks horrible . Not to mention the whole kit reeks of rushed production and vacuum-formed parts taken off the tables before they were set and cold , resulting in no two parts being the same . Yes , the armour were asymmetrical , but not THAT much . It was a real pain to put together , especially since i had to take off much material to shape it to my body ( joys of FemTKs ) . Three bad marks .

Even the TFA kits that they sent out , with the so called " Premiere Line " helmets had issues . A lot of helmets had to me sent back for repairs / replacements due to cracks . It's less present in their new injection-moulds buckets which are a lot lighter and don't give your a head / neck ache after an hour of trooping . Four bad marks .

I've seen their Officers uniforms on display at Anaheim , they look okay from afar , but just from afar , really . I don't know what kind of fabric they use , but the weave of the " gabardine " like material is huge , it looks like it was hand-knitted or something . Only good point is that it looks fairly thick and the colour seems decent . But even then i'd rather stick with CosplaySky ( well , more like Clothears if i could afford it , but 500$ and 500£ isn't the same budget  ) . Also , i sent a mail to Anovos when they released their first pictures asking if they were going to add the modesty panel , which was clearly missing on the uniform . They answered that they would , and i don't quite remember seeing it in Anaheim . But i could be mistaken , so ... Still , for the price they ask , they're not even offering tailor-made uniforms , i call it a rip-off , make it a fifth bad mark .

    Hope it helps :P

  4. Yeah i've seen the posts !

I've never been to Orlando , as opposed to Anaheim , glad they decided to move it :D

It's fun though , for London they at least waited the Celebration Anaheim was over , now they're already selling ticket for Orlando . My guess is in December they'll start selling ticket from Celebration Europe IV at this rate ^_^

  5. Cosplaysky is the only one that sells uniforms for a fair price , i'm afraid that the only others that could provide a custom sized uniform are the most expensive ones like Clothears , Magnoli and so on ... :(

Local tailors and seamstresses are probably just as expensive as the above mentioned sellers .

Maybe you could check with your friends and family if anyone doesn't know someone or has a grandma that has decent sewing skills and that would be willing to make the uniform for a certain price . I can't really help , i'm sorry

  6. You can buy Neodymium "rare earth" magnets at home improvement stores. They're rather inexpensive, and come in packs of 3, 6, 12 etc.

    http://www.homedepot.com/b/Tools-Hardware-Hardware-Hook-Loop-Magnets-Protective-Discs/N-5yc1vZc29k

For my hat disc I epoxied one on the back of the disc and another slides inside the front flap. Holds firm and can be repositioned easily if needed.

We don't have Home Depot here , the " best " magnets i've found around are black board magnets and drawer magnets , it would barely hold the greeblie into place

It's a pain to live in a teeny tiny country in Europe ! Ebay quickly becomes your best friend :P

  7. The only thing that i often regret while trooping as an officer is the lack of interest for the costume because you actually have a face .

Unless you're into a real geek 'con or a SW Celebration , some people won't even know what franchise you come from unless you take a walk with a Stormtrooper buddy and so on :P

Worst part is when they actually ask you to step aside because they just want the Stormtroopers .
Does that just happen here ? Or in some other countries people are more enthusiast about all costumes ?

  8. Some people have greeblies backed with screws , i don't know where they get them from but it seems to be the most reliable way of attaching them .

Some people also glue them straight on the hat ...

Regarding magnets , i'd love to know where people find magnets strong enough to keep anything together in the first place , especially while assembling armours !

All my greeblies come from Elvis as well , what i do is use Epoxy ( or E6000 if you can find it in your country ) to back the greeblie with a lapel pin needle thing , then i just stick it through the cap and secure the other end with a small pin rubber cap , rather than the small metallic piece you usually get with lapel pins . I don't know if it makes any sense explained like that though

  9. I don't personally think that Disney is actually bothering with was is Legend and what is Canon , or even about making a " New canon " . I think that they are sort of re-designing several costumes for each new movie , and they'll find an excuse the justify the changes throughout the movies , or the brand new re-design of old uniforms :P

But my first guess was Grand Admiral as well , until i noticed the black trousers .
If you strip him from his code cylinders , he does sports the right rank bar for Director of Intelligence indeed .
But then we can only speculate on what is his actual rank and function within the Empire .

I doubt that the Empire would dispatch a Grand Admiral to go look after a few Rebels , and once the plans are stolen , it's in the Empire's best interest not to make it too publicly known , hence it'd make more sense to send out the ISB to retrieve the plans / locate the Rebel base / destroy them .

I can't wait for more infos about that guy :D

  10. To be honest , if you want a damn good looking AT-AT Commander , there is only ONE supplier for the whole Legion .

Dan Laws  is THE man .

I'm ACD , AT-AT Commander , and i got the fist pull of Dan's updated mold ( late 2014 - early 2015 ) for that very specific armour . His new shoulder bridges are fantastic . They're removable and held down with screws , backed with some vinyl reinforcements .

While Mon Cal's armour look alright , the helmet's dome is just off , while Dan's armour overall looks like it comes straight from the movie .

A few things you need to know about DL though . Yes , waiting times can be long , and Yes , he can be hard to contact .

Don't even bother to send him mails , really , you'll never get an answer . Go straight to Facebook , and don't spam his wall like some people do , he won't answer either . PM him on the other hand , and you should get an answer within 24h .

My kit was delivered 3 to 4 months after payment . It does not take 2 years to get it done . And lately i got the Anovos TK which i'm converting to an ESB TK . I ordered some Snowtrooper hand plates from him , got them within 2 weeks , with a free smoke coloured lenses for my bucket .
Thing is , once you have paid , don't hesitate to send him a message every other week , something like " Hey , really excited for my kit , is it going all right ? Cheers ! " .

Also , something people should know : Dan's armours DON'T come with greeblies ( besides the back bulb shaped greeblie and the few tiny grey , white and red buttons on the chest plate ) .
So don't be surprised when the armour arrives , and be prepared to order Elvis' Veers / AT-ST helmet greeblie set , as well as some spare rank tiles for the chest plate from whoever your supplier is .

    Hope it helps ;)

PS : on a side note , there is very little work to do on Dan's armours as they come fully trimmed and almost ready to paint .
Paint is a pain though , even with coats and coats of Clear coat , i've never seen an armour take scratches so fast , especially since the chest overlaps the ab plate if you're not about as tall as Julian Glover .

  11. Hello !

I know the question must've been asked a hundred times already , and i checked the " Ongoing Sales Projects " but couldn't find anyone else making caps but ASU_MARINE .

    So here it is :

Does anyone knows someone who makes accurate caps with custom cloth ?

I ordred my CosplaySky Uniform a while back , got validated as AT-AT Commander and all the stuff , but i'm still missing the cap and i can't find anyone who i am sure won't screw up what's left of the extra cloth i ordred from CosplaySky after getting my uniform adjusted because it was somewhat not exactly my size , for the second time ...

I'm looking for somebody in Europe preferably , i'd rather avoid having to pay 40€ of shipping fees for the cloth to our overpriced post office , having to pay 40€ for the cap itself , and 40€ of overall shipping and custom fees to get it back from the US or whatever .

There's gotta be someone around with a sewing machine who can get the job done , if you got any tips or lead ...  ;)

    Regards from Belgium

  12. Hi !

I desperately want to enter the 501st but unlike many people that make Imperial Uniforms just to get an ID , i want to do it seriously , my objective is to get Lvl 3 certification in the end .

I found someone that could sew my unfirom for me , she doesn't really require patterns since she's a professional seamstress .

Any patterns would be welcome though ...

But my main problem is to find the right fabric , preferably a gabardine type , drab olive colour , but in Europe .

So i was wondering if anyone knew a reliable website to order as much fabric i need to make a uniform .

Of course if anyone has a nice website to order in the US , as long as they deliver to Belgium , it works with me too .

Thanks guys and long live the Empire
