  1. Down under here we spent the weekend welcoming fans to each showing at the local cinema running a 1-6 marathon over the weekend :)

And on Sunday featured in our first canon approved event, on a local kids television show in the AM :)

Here's yours, escorting 'Darth Ronnie' the host on screen for a good 2 minutes

Also had to play 'enforcer' with a fellow green officer, making a mess of kids faces with pies, flour and such as they missed in a competition game

  2. I've made an adjustment to them.

Ill take some pics and upload when I remember. I more or less took the widest part in 2.5inches, but as said moved it up slightly to more of an ear shape. Quick overlock and some ironing and they stick out like flares, but not elephant ears now :)

They tried to deliver my new dosimeters when I was out yesterday, so appart from my ongoing boot saga, nearly done!

Big weekend ahead, with 4 troops back to back Fri through Sunday. With any luck my contact will have some 2nd hand ones couriered to me this week. Or I will just have to bite the bullet and get some temporary rubber/pvc ones.

  3. So you would generally be OK with the bland rubber moulded ones that look (but not necessarily perform as) leather..

I found another brand today, that state in the label pvc upper pvc lower rubber sole. But pretty darn sure they are rubber :) but need to find me some bloke versions. Online there is mens wide, but not in store. Who would have thought they would target women for horse riding :)

  4. Seems what is written is unfortunately going to be read like gospel by local GML team. Which severely limits my options. Its too hard to tell what are rubber and what are not, very fine line between them on the shelf. More so in images or descriptions. Where one may call them PVC, others call them rubber.

So even though you agree the original pair I discovered (http://saddlerywarehouse.co.nz/afawcs0126509/CATID=4/SUBID=207/ID=14301/SID=314739621/productdetails.html) looked passable, seems since they are described as synthetic, but are infact rubber on inspection on makers website, can't be approved.

  5. Damn. What I first thought was going to be an easy excersize to create the full costume is fast becoming a not-so. I was basing the kit on the boots I had earlier located but I'm just not sure about their height/fitting.

Due to our remote location I either have to pay 2-3x the cost you guys do for the han copies, or get those non-fitting previous faux leather ones I found locally which I fear I will not both be comfortable in, but look wrong being so tight around the calf. I was hoping the stealth expansion would have been OK

Its hard to tell from the CRL images, but they almost look textured in a line down the rear of the back of them as if there is a zip/elastic line..

And lvl2 states no visible zipper which adds to the confusion.

  6. Hey one and all

So my modified Cosplay pants are more suited to my shape (apparently its not normal to have a wasit 12cm smaller than where your pants sit.. go figure :) )

But as suspected, they have epic elephant ears I would much perfer to modify than attempt to stiffen.

How much has everyone shaved off them to make them more suited to german-style look? And was it an even curve following the existing shape or shaped to leadoff the lower part of the ears more gradually than the top.

  7. As it turns out, the clear bostic superglue I used... didn't stick so well. Collected it from the car the following day minus 1 tile, to find how easy the others were to get off. Due to the transparency of the tiles you could see the glue spread on close inspection, but fine for general view.

It did look good while it lasted. Albeit a bit skewed, appears my stencil for aligning them moved during application and made the middle 2 blue tiles closer to 1 edge than the others.

Next stop, double sided tape (which will no doubt fall off in any heat/sun) or as you say modelling glue. Which is likely to melt the plastics to allow it to bond. Which may end up in me re-creating all the tiles again

  8. I know its probably a matter of personal preference given the various copies of Rank Bars you can see on members being approved. However whats the concensus out there on finishing the edges of the tiles.

I see Tiggies fine examples appear to be laser cut or blow-torched as there is a fine ripple around one edge of them but nice and clear

As good as they are I couldn't bring myself to buy a set without calling myself a bloke and personalising at least one part of the costume, so have been DIY making my own bar :)

Since I don't have access to a laser cutter or similar I have the tiles sanded down with 400grit paper, which leaves a very slight scuffed/smokey look to the edges of the tiles while still looking good with any light shining through/around them. And then polished with some car cutting compound.

A test buff with a dremel head and some silver polish didn't have the desired effect of clear finishing. Infact it still melted my test block on slow speed if held in 1 spot for too long

I could push it out some more by going 800 grit then 1600 which is basically just buffing it down to clear. But really, is it all that necessary or would I be wasting my time?

Also attaching.. what methods have people found better. Double sided tape or clear araldite/superglue

  9. I am now in talks with CosplaySky, They are being more than accomodating and have given me a pants replacement opportunity which is more than generous.

When I finalise the replacement measurement requirements with them I will let you all know what would be better to add to the order form to clarify future orders.

From what I can gather it may be better to separate the pants measurements if you are odd-shaped as the 'waist' can be taken at different points up the torso if you are tall/short. And although it may be correct for a shaped shirt/jacket pants may often be worn lower as with me, about my pelvic bones.

I included the suggested measurements specified in an earlier post, but also as with additional suit mesasurements -

shoulder-to-shoulder distance (the tunics have padding that look funny if too wide/short)

Centre-back (back of the neck to the waist - this gives jacket pinch point and belt seam line)

Neck to hips/pants for basic jacket length

  10. Good luck. So far, I have not seen any real improvement with their pants, other than they started making the waist measurements more accurate.

My measurements were close to specified.. the top of the pants ended up 1.5cm smaller than specified.

But when you say waist.. I guess its up to interpertation. Are you guys measuring around the belly button. but Wear pants below it on the hips like me? Cause everythign I looked at measured the waist as the thinest part of our mid-rift .. but since Im more 'shapely' below this I included my hip measurements thinking the pants would be made to that

I'm no good with pants. off the shelf they need to vary from 92-97 depending on style/brand but all sit about the same location.. which I wasn't considering my waist.

    Bodies clearly suck

  11. Oh blast. Another pants failure here. My tunic appears fine, well... looks OK to my eye and need to have a closer look at the back fitting etc. But the pants are a different story.

Not sure about you guys, but I wear pants on my hips, well below my belly button, For this reason I included my hip circumference as suggested with a bit of generosity to play with thinking the waist measurement was for the tunic.

However it appears they make the pants for 'high ride' style above the belly button and make the top of them to your waist size! Which on me, is 10cm smaller once you get past the 'spare tyre lip'. If I hike them up and sing like a princess the button nearly meets in the middle. But the zip still has issues

So be wary.. the pants are indeed still something to be carefull with. I am in email contact with Sophie now in the attempt to find a resolution. Be it get some material sent to make a top/belt loops and monster it as it is hidden by the tunic. Or arrange some new pants.

If I took out the pleats and make them look a little funny, I could probably almost get away with putting some velcro or similar to hold them together/up but thats less than ideal given how nice the jackets are made.
