I either do the fist pose like this one, pointing forward, or hands behind my back. One side effect that my wife caught me in last week is that I've started unconsciously defaulting to these poses for any pictures. Not always the best look for your happy family pic!

Alternatively a "tea-time" looks quite good as well (but you have to happen have a tea in your hand)

And when Vader walks by: "Would you care for a cup of tea, my Lord?"

I use warm water, Kiwi and a cloth duster that works a treat

That's a good way to get them very shiny.
I like to sit down with a nice new can of black kiwi and some warm water. Cotton balls or a very soft material, like an old dress sock can work well. I do each boot two or three times while watching tv.

Personally I've gotten sunburned feet inside my boots because the polish is soo deep and rich. Get a kiwi brush and a heat gun (paint peeler) apply kiwi until it is evenly gobbed on, apply heat till it melts, the leather should soak it up like a spunge. Rinse, repeat until the kiwi starts to take on a dull sheen, that means in that area the leather can hold no more. Once the whole area to be polished reaches this state flip the most likely now empty 1-2 cans of kiwi kids over and fill with cold water. Get a bag of cotton balls and turn on your favorite Star Wars movie... Gonna be here a while. Get a drink too. Now soak a cotton ball in water first, then lightly squeeze it out. Then begin doing small circles on the boot, always the same direction.... Soon you will hear Mr. Miagi chanting behind you. Keep it up till it gets a deep shine. Repeat process several times and you will get a deep black shine that you can see your face in while standing up, and it won't crack. Soft cloth and you can get any scuffs out before you troop.
Taken from experience of many paratrooper pass and reviews! My jump boots have been in a duffle several years and I got them glistening in 15 minutes because I did this process initially.

Well, I figured that the boots we had purchased for my Partner were wide calf boots, so bought him another pair of smaller ones, and I'm goign to stretch out the riding boots we had previously bought to fit me.

Works out cheaper for us than the soviet boots, and means I get proper Riding boots.

Totally agree with that Matt, I've just got a pair of these .... the only issue is stiffness around the ankle for me. They fit like a dream, comfortable. I take UK size 11,went for UK size 11.5. Glad I did, much better fit and gave a little more stretch around my calf. Boots arrived in a week. Gonna get them shined up nice now. Kris suggested using a boot pull to raise them as high as possible and increase the tension so I'm gonna try that.

I went with a Soviet boot from one if the Fleabay sellers.... on its way to me in the UK as we speak... they have larger calf boots got sure. There's another thread about these boots with pics I think.... have a look on Soviet boots. com

I keep mine in my bin.  I place my rolled-up belt in the cap and then lay it in the bin upside down (laying down on the top side of the cap).  As the belt unrolls itself, it will push against the sides of the cap and help kinda keep it in a circular shape.  You could accomplish the same thing using a small box and put it in your sports bag.  Of all the pieces of an officer, the cap is probably the one that needs to be protected the most.  As you have experienced, if you get any major creases or crumpling on the cap, it is hard to correct it.  And frankly, you want to have the cap look as crisp and straight as possible.

I have the issue of having large calves, and the standard jackboots simple wouldn't fit my calves, but sovietboots sell these boots that are for larger calves, would they be approvable?

Really? Maybe we need to have a formal side by side comparison, and make it a sticky topic. Sadly I binned my CosplaySky cap. I have some older pictures of it. I'll add it to my to do list
