Salute in each country is different. But this movement must be fast, sharp, and crisp. Then it looks nice.  I think if you have the skill - to make it beautiful - yes, salute. if not- it is not necessary. 70% of cases - it goes crooked.
I personally prefer to stretch out at attention, without much fuss. If children salute - usually answer a slight nod and a shrug

On the 25th and 26th of April members of the 501st Russian Outpost were lucky to meet a Honorary Member of the Legion well-known author Michael A. Stackpole during the Eurocon convention in Saint Petersburg, Russia. He was very kind to spend some time with us and sign few books and photos for our troopers and cadets. We used this opportunity to induct Mr. Stackpole as a Honorary Member of the 501st Legion Russian Outpost and Rebel Legion Ruusan Outpost. I as ID-77200 was present there and took a photo with Mr. Stackpole!

I've heard from an anonymous source there are officers, and they're similar to EP4-6 officers, like EP3 officers are similar to EP4-6 ones.

That's what we get in the end.

    4. Polishing
The ideal variant with fine sandpaper grit (up to 1600).

So. The resulting first part of boxing we polish on all sides with sandpaper (and first movements "top-down" and then "left to right" and then again "top-down"). At the end do not forget to clean the box with a dry cloth.

    II. Rear side box

    1. The procedure is exactly the same. Perhaps only distinguish the size of the elements may become the rear part of the box: 65 mm, height 115 mm, and a thickness of 6 mm.

    2. Mounting the belt.
In fact, I chose the easiest way fasteners. I used a thin leather straps, securing them with screws on the nut.

The holes for the screws is usually performed with an awl. But try prodelyvat holes carefully, not to crush the back of the box.

    III. Bonding of both parts

It's simple. On the inside of the rear of the side portions Boxing couple fatty lines of glue, and then fasten it with the main part of boxing (it should overlap the lid on the box and sit almost perfectly), waiting for 7 seconds and you're done!

When transporting these boxes hurt if they hit just about anything. Or if you're taking them in a crowded bag. The ideal option package - wrap them in something soft.

So far I have been able to make only a vertical option boxes. I am currently working on a horizontal options.

I hope this information will be useful.

    Waiting for your comments!

When I finished with a suit Staff officer, I decided that I needed belt boxes. But I have to order them could not because of lack of money. And then I visited an interesting idea.

Not so long ago I found quite easy method of making the belt boxes.

And that's what we need to make them:

    1) aluminum can 0.5 liter.
    2) a small cardboard box
    3) Super Glue
    4) sandpaper
    5) line, marker and pencil for marking
    6) screws, nuts
    7) leather straps
8 ) stationery knife or scissors.

    Proceedings:

    I. The front of the box
    1. Cardboard we serve as an excellent supporting material for thin sheet metal. Let's start with the marking on the cardboard.
P.S. I used a different metric system and all figured in centimeters and millimeters.

Then we cut the drawing into separate elements.

    2. Main material still is metal and therefore can use a sheet of light metal (such as aluminum). And the easiest way to find him, taking his hand in aluminum cans.

Carefully cut off the ends of her, not to crush the base, because we need to run a smooth sheet.

    3. Now take the cardboard core element and thoroughly cover one side with glue and then glue it to the front (color) side of the sheet. Presses for 5-7 seconds and release, and then fold the metal sheet and glue the remaining side elements.

To the sides of the box can not unbend their fix in additional pieces of cardboard, again cementing their super glue.

What are your opinions on the gloves? At first I though the were black rubber TK gloves, but looks more like dark green to me now. How color accurate do they need to be for approval?

As for the shape. It looks like there's a part lower arm armour in them, but that can be easily copied (see attached file)

Yesterday I received an email to inform me I'd been nominated for the Imperial Officer Corp Detachment Leader position. Needless to say I was flattered by the nomination, I'm an Officer Armourer in the UK Garrison, assisting people with their Officer costume builds and offering constructive criticism in ways they can improve their costume to make it look like they just stepped off the movie set.

I'm pleased, using reference found here, to say I was the first person in the 501st to clear with the movie accurate 'Fahrenheit 451' style Staff Officer uniform, and have both Imperator standard Line and Staff Officer uniforms.

I've been a member of this forum for a number of years, and have supported the current detachment leader Mr Savage.

Sadly, after a lot of thought, I've declined the nomination. I believe Mr Savage is doing a great job with the detachment, I would like to offer him my support and am looking to assist the Imperial Officer Corp detachment staff where possible.

    Thanks,
    Phil Riches

Well I was told a few times that I'm a USSR officer or a Galactic Republic Soldier/officer... And surprisingly the second one was much more annoying. Either way, that's one of the reasons we're making this- to help everyone gain more knowledge about Star Wars and the glorious Galactic Empire. I sometimes (if the person shows interest) explain who am I and what I'd be doing in Star Wars Universe. But the moments when sometimes parent says to a child (or the other way around)  "No! That's an Imperial Officer!" always brings a big smile to my face.

Fyranth reacted to Sebastian in Sith officer uniform from KOTOR and Saul Karath Sith Commander uniform.
Hello there, I have a question regarding the possibility/acceptance of the uniforms listed in the topic.

Myself and a friend wanted to make either the Sith Fleet Commander uniform that Saul Karath wore in Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic, or the simple (common) Sith officer uniform; perhaps both.

Now my question is, would it be allowed in 501st and IOC? How do you think? Perhaps someone form the command can make a comment? I believe it would be the first take of such a costume, so could anyone give me some more information on how to do it and what I should be prepared to? As for the source (images) that I'd use to make those uniforms it would be in-game pictures and possible concept arts.

Here are some of those "sources":
    -Sith Fleet Commander (Saul Karath):
+For details a very good and detailed concept art:

+For overall look, in-game pictures like this ones:

+And possibly I'd add a belt like the ones normal Sith officers wore (because how otherwise should I wear that "thing" on his left side) and try to use Jackboots (since all other officers in KOTOR used them)?

    -Normal (Common) Sith Officer:
    +In-game pictures:

So what do you think, perhaps any advice? Also sorry if this should be in some other section, I weren't sure where to put this, so if it should go anywhere else, please move it and send me a notification please. Thanks for all the help.

Fyranth reacted to spree610 in How-to: Boot size measurements
Since this has come up often I'm re-posting this here for reference.
    Citation: Ridersmall.com
Additional tips from @azri84 who originally suggested the site to me.
    Measure your Foot Size:
If you are not sure what size you wear, follow these guidelines to determine your size
1- Draw a straight line, longer then your foot, on a piece of paper.
2- Place the paper on a flat surface. Stand on the line with your heel and longest toe centered on the line.
3- Heave a friend place a mark on the line at the tip of your toe and back of your heel. Measure both feet.
4- Measure the distance between the marks. This is your boot size.

    Measuring your Calf:
5- Measure completely around your leg at the largest part of the calf. (its best to do this over pants of a like fabric to your costume)

    Measuring your required height:
6- Measure the height of your calf as illustrated.

    Tips:
Invest in a good boot jack.
    Buy some boot pulls.
Wear the boots around for a day to get a good fit.
Measure your calf around the type of pant you will tuck into the boot.
