  1. Yes, the photo did not show the stitching present which was the cause for my worry.  I got the feeling that they ordered a bunch of them from their supplier so I imagine the new ones that people order will also have it.  They also mentioned that the previous orders were narrow in the calf region and that the newer ones would have more room.  The new ones have a bit extra room in the calves and move as I walk.  I have narrow calves so it would probably fit someone of normal size perfectly.

  2. As an already approved staff officer, I decided to order new boots as the the strap the local cobbler used to hide the zipper was at best a temporary solution.  I ordered boots from Magnoli Clothiers last Oct.  Because they didn't have a size 13 in stock, they told me that they would have to special order them and it would be a few months. They arrived today and I'm happy with the appearance and fit (they slip right on), though I'm concerned a little with some stitching on each side.  I was dismayed  until I looked inside the boot and contralateral to the stitching there is a panel that has a loop attached.  My wife (who used to jump Horses) told me that this was common with higher quality boots.  It is used to attach "pulls" to help the feet get into the boots.  I'm hoping these will be approvable with the stitching present because they are so comfortable and are otherwise a high quality boot.

  3. I ordered the deluxe black officers uniform, custom measurements.  I think it was around $130 and it didn't take long, maybe 3 weeks total.  I used suggested measurements recommended on the first page of the big cosplaysky thread here on the forum.  I also spoke with Amy and she told me Mr. Xi was the one who sewed my costume.  Overall I am very satisfied, it's a bit long in the waist but I can easily wear a belt that is hidden with the top and the snap buttons to close the flap are already giving out, but I would still recommend them.

  4. Does anyone know of anyone who sells size 13 boots that would be acceptable for the highest level of certification for a line officer?  My current ones have a "concealed zipper" modification that works but 1)I'm not sure how long the cobbler strap to hide the zipper will hold up and 2)I need another person to secure the flap after I get into costume.  I'd like a pair that is acceptable at the highest level of certification and be in the $200/$250 range.  I'd rather not spring for $500 custom boot prices, and my ankle/calf widths are normal, as my Vader, Batman, and Chewbacca boots have all fit my calves perfectly without custom fabrication.  I am thinking the ebay seller LarryMac may be by best option, but are there any other places who sell big boots?

  5. In this case, we were fortunate that VCRs, Tivos, UTube and any other recording/playback medium hadn't been invented yet.  If you missed it on TV (like I did) you were just out of luck.  I remember being so depressed as a child for missing out.  Later, when I watched it as an adult, I realized I was better off for not experiencing this debacle.  However, my wife loves to watch it for comedic value, and yes, I'd probably buy it if were ever (don't hold your breath) released on DVD/Blu Ray.
