just double check and ask what kind of cloth made of could be cheap or high quality...
That would probably not go over well

ewww, those are some cheesy epaulets too

Now that you're official, introduce yourself in the member introduction thread and you can get IOC access! Welcome aboard! http://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/topic/1670-501st-ioc-member-status-requests/page-38

looks like another cosplaysky copycat. If you look at the collar and jodhpurs closeups you can see alot of top stitching, definitely not a good deal based on what I can see. May squeak by a basic approval, depending on GML.

Check ebay frequently; I've gotten an olive one off there before, but haven't seen one recently.

This looks like old costume pics from Costume Base, especially the hat and belt, which are not acceptable. I would be wary since that suit image does look like it's pulled direct off of Cosplaysky's website. There are lots of copycats in Singapore and China that have inferior products. What makes me say avoid like the plague is the fact that they've had 12 negative reviews in the past year. No matter your selling volume, that is stupid high. This review is most telling:
"Low quality costume, lack of communication from seller = no refund. 100% regret"

After Celebration and teaser trailer 2, I am pretty stoked about seeing this at the premier. "C'mon old buddy, don't let me down....."

Being that you only see this on rebels at Hoth, I would not try to replicate this particular design. It seems kind of like the British web holsters that tankers had in WWII, it is canvas, which seems much more appropriate for rebels. They made the decision in ROTJ to not reuse those holsters for Imps in the bunker, just to have them in hand like they were grabbed out of a locker. If you must have a holster for it, i'd do it in black leather getting as close to the documentable merr-sonn holster as you can.
-
I have never seen that before, is that an actual screen cap from ROTJ or part of a behind the scenes photo? I'd like to check this site out, what's the url?
-
You would have to have a flared bottom opening with a slash through it to accommodate the mortar fins. If you look at the Dengar CRL in the Bounty Hunter Detachment, you see the one they put on the thigh armor. We have an IOC member here, Geohazard, who makes holsters and expressed interest in making one for the DL-21. It would not be acceptable to wear on LFL troops, but may be nice to have trooping for long periods at cons or unofficial troops. I just ordered my DL-21 for my ROTJ Naval Trooper, and I will not use a holster myself, it is not screen accurate.

Yea the DH-17 is a joke, my hasbro is better, but that BFG tho-
MG-34 looks better than the lewis gun details, that's for sure, thinking about it, for a hundred credits.......if it sucks, sell it on...

Hhhm, i've never had a problem with communication with them. Give them about 5 days they usually respond to questions or orders pretty quickly.

My profile pic is my first 501st uniform on my first troop, doing staff officer at Stocktoncon. I had a crappy costume base hat with a greeblie added and a garment leather holster I finished that morning before the con, both since replaced. I always loved the staff officer on ANH and the cool blaster so that's where I started in IOC, but I love my ANH Dress Naval Trooper the best. The helmet is just "me". I have a lot of love for my line officer and is probably my best uniform, but you have to carry yourself differently and be 'in charge', and those jodhpurs are tight!
-
he does have 2 negative reviews, unusally high. Galactic Supply also sounds familiar....
-
Found this guy on ebay Marco from Galactic Supply. I saw some of the pictured droids in the R2 Builders main hall exhibit, does this guy do good work? Blasters are cheap..........

If you are doing black staff officer you do not need matching material for a hat, black hats can be found here. You can ask them to do pockets but they may charge extra. If you have sewing skills you can add pockets yourself, there are tutorials on here, just make sure the tunic covers them. Good luck!
-
Great tutorial! This is a very good project to save some money on your kit. Well done!

If you are doing a black uniform the museum reps black hat should be fine. The crown of the hat is not as tall as it could be, but it is approvable.
-
Yes, get at least 1.5 yards of fabric extra. They will charge 30 a yard, but it's worth it to have a matching hat. Gina (Runyajade on this forum) also makes an excellent cap and does not have a large waiting list, though hers are pricier. Good luck!
-
they are both styled with garbadine fabric of sorts, but definitely get the deluxe version. That has (or should have) all of the correct elements such as waist and princess seams required by 501st as minimum standards. Provide plenty of measurements and get your hat and belt elsewhere from folks here on the forums. Good luck!

Have you finished this build? Your casting looks great, love to see pics of it all put together!
