  1. HERE is the link to the deluxe version. It shows the black uniform; you must specify olive fabric clearly and repeatedly in the notes and in all email dealings with them, and they should get it right. http://cosplaysky.com/star-wars-imperial-officer-uniform-costume-deluxe-version-new.html

The reason I say that is they went through the whole process on mine and still made it black after repeat emails and requesting matching fabric, they need to be told GREEN GREEN GREEN! Then they will give you the right one ;)

  2. Yes, those boots will not be approved, and don't look very high quality for the price. Make sure to tell Cosplaysky you want the Deluxe version in Olive Green fabric, and they SHOULD apply the 501st standards automatically. I have noticed if you add too many notes, they can become confused, especially with the language barrier. Those measurements are the most important part, and if you can, provide them in centimeters and tell them you are doing so; one less conversion cuts out that possible mistake at least. Good luck mate!

  3. The thing I notice about surplus Soviet boots from reenacting is they only fit a certain number of people. The soles are not very wide, and the boot shafts are standard length and could be too tall or too short depending on the wearer. They also only go up to a max of 16 1/2 inch width on the calves, which did not work for me at all. But if you are in that magic place of having US men's size 7 to 10, you are 5 foot 6 to 5 foot 10 tall, and have normal foot width and lean weight, they are perfect. Not many in the US are built to half starved Soviet soldier standards!

  4. I've been in 501st as IOC over a year and just got my "perfect" boots last week. I started with Funtasmas, as many do. My problem was 10 EEE widths and 18 1/2 inch calf! The zipper is unsightly but I gotta say pretty convenient for getting on and off easily at troops. The vinyl they are made of will break down on you and you will need to replace them eventually; worst case the blasted zipper breaks on you and they become garbage. All worth it to start trooping at less than 50 for footwear. You get what you pay for. Hope that helps!

  5. I ordered my Line officer on the 28th of June before I joined up here but reading these posts is making me nervous, oh well fingers crossed on the subject of hats does anyone know if the ones made by Jedi robe are any good?

If that thumbnail is their hat, I'm not impressed. It seems short in the crown, the bill is...off, and the general shape and construction is shoddy. There are easy options here in these forums for a superior custom hat.

  6. He's saying they are out of fabric, which is news indeed! Many of us have started as crewman and staff officers and then worked our way up to line. Olive uniform is probably the most difficult to get done correctly in the detachment. I would say don't rush it, wait until you can get a quality line officer together. If done quickly the effect can be quite shabby looking. Start with boots! Get on the list at Clothears, if you want to be in 501st by November start with a staff officer or crewman. Patience will pay off!

  7. Those are absolutely correct for Warrant Officer/Crewman/Naval Trooper up to Level 3. My concern would be the condition; the wrinkles in the leather on the boot shafts looks to be damage from water, and made need extensive restoration beyond a shoe shine. I have seen size 57 numerous times, i'd keep looking.

  8. I'm going to be placing an order with them in the next few weeks. Tony, you mentioned that there are problems with the hat. Can you elaborate? I would love to get some details if possible.

The biggest question about the hat and costume: Is it an approvable costume/hat?

No, the hat isn't. Don't bother, you can get a custom hat in the sales-ongoing projects section of these forums. Their uniform IS absolutely approvable. However, Cosplaysky's hat dimensions are big and wonky, and are not worth trying to rework them. If you're going staff officer you can get a black hat easy, if doing olive you need to ask Cosplaysky for extra material and they will charge 30 a yard.
