  1. Hello.  Your neighborhood LMO is here with a new chapter of "Update That CRL".

Pursuant to the overall activity of general review and updating where needed (noted here) ... I've performed a review of the Admiral Daala - Flightsuit CRL.

Rather than post the CRL in entirety below, I will say that the only changes (outside of spelling, etc) is:

    1. On the flightsuit, allowing both darker olive and black piping.

    2. Minor language smoothing for clarity purposes.

These edits have not been performed yet.  I will be making them live November 9.  If there are any further updates to this specific CRL desired, post here.

  2. Hello everyone ... Friendly Neighborhood LMO here ...  :)

Along with Juno's Rogue Shadow updates, it makes sense to fold in any needed updates to her Dress Uniform CRL.

Here is the planned new text.  THIS IS NOT LIVE YET.  Not really much to mention here, other than to shift language to provide consistency with Juno's other CRL, and to remove references to ANH and the other OT movies in her tunic entry.  :)  If there are no objections, this will be made live along with Juno's other CRL update.  Please provide feedback :)

  3. Right.  I am still unsure about that L3 bit for the hat.  It's true to the reference, certainly, and to not have the decorations would be accurate.  But were they supposed to be there and just not rendered?  Or were they never there at all?  Translating animated characters is definitely tricksy!  Comparing against the game's concept art if I can find it would help, maybe.

  4. The discs are made with notches and without. Even in the movies some of the characters had notched disks, and some had notchless ;) If I recall, you can ask for a hat to be made with a notched or notchless disk ... Or just buy a pin that you can swap in and out.

The belt, even though I don't see a rivet in all the reference material,  I am open to compromising on.  Technically someone could just paint over the rivet.  But then they wouldn't be able to use the belt for anything else.

Hmmm.  I seem to remember another costume that had a similar quandary.  I shall go look it up.

  5. Here is the proposed Update.  THIS IS NOT LIVE YET

This proposal is made in mind to be more consistent in wording with other CRL's, an eye to the actual reference material, and hopefully clarifications made on things that may have been confusing, previously.

L1 Edits include:  Removal of the concentric circles on the hat as required.   Smoother language on hairstyle. Color of undershirt clarified. Clarification on length of jacket. Clarification on back seams on jacket. Clarification of gloves material.  Addition of another style of code cylinder.  Removal of the belt rivet as required.  Clarification of type of boot top styling and heel styling.

If there are no objections or discussions on any further changes or the proposed changes, this will be made live in 10 days.

Yet Brom Titus in Rebels is an Admiral...and wears a black uniform.  Hard to keep straight when the canon is not consistent.

There are times when I really wish the collective we didn't try to make sense and head canon out of things that, by their own admission, was loosely done for appearance.

Nothing against those that enjoy doing so :)

Just not my particular cup of tea.  I just want to enjoy the movie.  Or comic.  Or whatever.

  7. That might be an IOC member only link.  All it says is that I am choosing Juno first for review.

You will know about any changes well before I publish them.  I will post them here, first.  Mostly, they look like semantics and L2/3 clarifications so far, but I am not done staring at references yet. :)

  8. Do you have AACC's that you want to show off?  You are in luck!  I am in search of pictures of Absolutely Awesome Code Cylinders ... each of the four accepted styles ... member owned.

They will be used in the IOC CRL's.

I know there are some Awesome ones out there let's see them!  If you are modest, you can send them to me via PM  :)

  9. Hello everyone ... Friendly Neighborhood LMO here ...  :)

I am starting the review process mentioned here earlier in the week:  http://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/topic/4451-crl-suggestion-thread-please-read/&page=3#comment-115197

I'll be pouring over the references and making adjustments in the CRL, and it will, hopefully, in the end be clearer.  I'll post up proposed edits before making them live.  Just let folks know that the review process is starting :)  It is possible that new images may be asked for.

  10. Received, thank you!  :)

So, here is my thought.  To tweak the semantics (not requirements) of the code cylinder text just a hair for clarity, and to update the image to show a great representation of each of the 4 allowed styles.

Costumers have a far better idea of what to aim for / make, and GML's have a better idea of how to judge.  Both being visual creatures ;)

Higher accuracy / looking-good-stuffs are then promoted, without actually being restrictive.

Can someone send me a nice picture of each of the following that properly represents what looks good for its respective "style"?

"Modified Style": silver "chalk holder" tube with short clip, top is colored Blue.
"Rod style": machined aluminum rod with flaring disc detail at top
"Dosimeter style": True Dosimeter with correct clip and Blue top.
"Alternate style": silver clip, no blue tip.

    Thank you :)

  12. Let's refocus to the original topic of the ANH 451 style costumes, please.  ;):D

Things that I need to fully ponder things through --

-- Is there a significant difference in the ANH build (not just the tunic) currently to warrant a new CRL?

-- Are there members with the costume currently?

-- Are all black officers in ANH in this style, and if so, is it okay to split the IN Dress, as well?

-- Does the DL okay it?

I've had a look at the standard line officers, and there aren't too many differences if you were to avoid the toony look and recreate in real world terms. To the point where if you used existing gear you'd need to change nothing and therefore wouldn't be Rebels at all. You could stand alongside a Rebels Thrawn or a Pryce and you'd look.. ok? But if they'd gone for Toony then again we're mixing realms and it looks weird. It'd be fine on troops! But making room for someone to make a Rebels toony design to better match a Rebels face character would be cool I think?

There are plenty of differences if you go "full toon". Fabric colour, collar design, bars and belt, hat design and stitching, disc on the hat, straight rear tunic seam. The "generics" even wear their hats really far down so as to cover their faces, make them really generic! If we're being "me" levels of picky XD

Not necessarily too picky.  Those sorts of things are handled (a lot of the times) in L2/L3 higher accuracy detailing.  Which, ultimately, is one of the reasons behind why one might want to make a particular source reference its own CRL series.

Which is pretty much what you're saying, I think.
