    Greetings!

I am gauging interest for the creation of an Imperial Scanning Crew Group within the IOC but don't really know how to go about it and more specifically, don't want to do anything out of line with Legion and IOC policy....

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?

As I said, the idea is firstly to see how many of us would be interested in this and then take it from there....

    Regards,

As promised - I have done some research on the Clone Wars ranking system. Doesn't look much but maybe some fellow officers can add more information on this

Yes this chart was also done with the official Rank description Glyn Dillon provided for R1 and SOLO.

I also found this one from Episode III, but I don't know which rank it is supposed to be:

Moff perhaps? Would probably fit into the timeline of Tarkins career.

They were seen on the screen in ANH. You just have to watch the scene where Alderaan gets destroyed. I lightened up the last image. You can clearly see that they do not wear jackboots.

If this costume would be more complicated I would understand the reluctance to repeat mistakes from the past but it really does not make any sense here. We know all we need to know for at least the lower levels perhaps even level 3. We know that these guys wear a standard imperial tunic in black and olive green/feldgrau. We know how those tunics look like since ANH. It does not matter if there is a hidden seam under the belt or not. We know that they wear a standard imperial belt. It does not really matter if the strap has groves or not. It also does not matter if the belt buckle has a curve or if its disc has a notch detail or not.  We know that they wear science officer style dress pants in the color of the tunic. We also know that they wear plain black dress shoes with no decorations or laces. It does not matter what brand or model they are. We do not need to know if the boots are ankle high or low dress shoes because the pants will cover the top of them anyway. It also does not matter if they are made of real leather or faux-leather but we know that they are not suede, they are too shiny for that. We know that one guy with a black uniform has a rank bar with six blue tiles and a code cylinder in each code cylinder pocket. We know that one guy with an olive green/ feldgrau uniform has a rank bar with six red tiles and one code cylinder in his left pocket and two in his right one. For the lower levels, it does not matter if the belts, code cylinders or tunics are the Rogue One or the OT version. The tiny not visible details do not really matter for the lower levels. We should not be this nitpicky, well at least not for the lower levels. It does not really matter if we only have enough references to create a CRL with level 1 or 2, not every CRL need to go up to level 3.

@Hux any suggestions? We have the reference pics, a written CRL proposal and pictures of the Uniform. Did we miss anything?

This is a first draft for the so called "Hall Walkers" which are walking around the corridors of the Death Star in ANH.

Since this is just another grey sunday in january and I have a few minutes time I wrote a draft for a CRL to start a discussion. Let's see how it goes

    Required Costume Components
The following costume components are present and appear as described below.

    Imperial Hat, fieldgrey

    •    Base of the hat is conical, with a crown about 4" (101.6 mm) tall.
    •    Front and rear "flaps" overlap on the sides and are about 4" (101.6 mm) high.
    •    Front bill extends 3" down, decorated with 5, 6 or 7 concentric stitches.
    •    Imperial Code Disk is positioned in the center of the front vertical flap.

For level two certification (if applicable):
    •    Code Disk has a notch detail on the outermost disk.

For level three certification (if applicable):
    •    Code disk exactly matches screen-used prop.

    Tunic, fieldgrey,
    For 501st approval:

    •    The standing collar has square corners and is about 1.25" (31.8 mm) tall and remains open in the middle with a width of about 1/2".
    •    The collar is made from brown fabric, matching the weave of the tunic.
    •    Sleeves are long with brown cuffs which are about 3 - 4" / 75 - 100 mm wide.
    •    Sleeves containing 2 seams, one along the bottom and one along the back.
    •    This uniform shall not have code cylinder pockets.

For level two certification (if applicable):
    •    The back of the tunic has princess seams that run vertically and turn outward to intersect the arm-hole seam at the vertical center.

For level three certification (if applicable):
    •    There is topstitching visible 1/2" / 12mm from the edge of the breast closure and it must have a lining sewn in.

    Belt

Since I am a Clone Wars Admiral I am wondering if we can find enough reference to add some of the ranks from that era too.

As far as I can see we have the same rankbadges there for both Captain and Admiral (e.g. Yularen and Tarkin) three red above two blue. But we have some other officers with different rankbars like those clones in the lightgrey uniform wearing two blue and one red in a line (if I rememeber that correctly).

I will look for some proper reference and present the results here. Perhaps somebody has them already collected and can share them here with the community?

Basically how it would need to be fixed is by taking the collar off and resizing the neck hole, which is very hard to do without adding that additional seam that they're talking about. But a good hunk of the tunic would need to be dismantled to do so. The lining would need to be removed, and depending on how the tailor wants to go forward, some of the panels would be replaced.or that seam would be added.

As for pricing, some do and some don't. If a tailor has a flat rate, they may give a price, but most tailors I've met do charge by the hour and may provide their rates that way.

By the way, the shoes of the Solo guys look similar to the ones Galen Erso wears as an Imperial Science Officer. If they are indeed the same type of shoes, we will never know for sure, then they are ankle high boots. We will also never know if they are really Chelsea boots or not because we neither see enough detail in Rogue One nor in Solo.

I just took it seven different tailors two of them said that it was possible. Out of the two one of them said that I would be very expensive and it would require a lot of work and the dismantling the tunic. The other said they would charge $45  but Idk how well of a job that would be. Mean while the other 5 said it was impossible or that they wanted to add a seam in the back. Also most of them werent giving me any prices except one. Is that normal for them to do? I contacted cosplay sky through amazon under the item was damage or defective and they said that all their collars are fixed and That a tailor could fix it. Granted I Amazon doesn’t give u the option to make custom measurements, but I bought my ISB tunic from there and had no problems at all the collar was just right.  I’m sorry but I’m not going to send way more money to get something fixed when there should have never been a problem. I’m going to ask a coworker if they could fix it. If not I’m returning both uniforms.

Some of the applicants I had as a GML had similar problems. One Lady got it fixed by a tailor (she did not tell me details how the tailor did it), some others sent the uniform back and got a new one with a tighter collar.

In total I have a bit of the feeling, even if you order there with your exact measurements, they seem to think of the customer as being obese and vain . Most of those uniforms I saw in the last years were wider than the applicant ordered it, had the elephant-ears on the pants, the double breast's right upper end exeeded the top shoulder-seam and the collar was too wide. While fixing the pants and the double breast is totally possible even for amateurs, sizing down the width of the collar is very difficult even for tailors because you'd have to add fabric (which would maybe lead to a replacement of the breast-part or the back-part of the tunic).

I hope they will care for this in the future since they offer an inexpensive uniform that could be more suiting and more accurate just be some small alterations of the pattern or the handling with the customers measurements.

Another Thing I noticed are the ranks and branches of the officers in the scene accoring to the chart provided by Glyn Dillon and David Crossman.

Here we have a Security-/Stormtrooper-Branch General with a black tunic and six blue tiles. His counterpart is a army General with an greygreen tunic an six red tiles.

And here we have two Security-/Stormtrooper-Branch Generals with black uniforms and six blue tiles having a drink together.

That prooves that black tunics and greygreen tunics both come with the straight legged pants.
