At the Noris Force Con I was allowed to see your straight-legged-science-officer. And it looked brilliant. Elegant and "imperial" to say the least.

I am confident this will be added to the existing CRL's. It's such a beautiful addition for the officers uniforms.

Concerning "cheap" or "lazy": Having a tailor to make the straight-legged pants from e.g. a few meters of CosplaySky's extra-fabric (I am uncertain if they offer straight legged pants by now) and buying jodhpur-style leather-shoes will not be cheap anyway. Not cheaper than a pair of good riding-boots

And how one likes the costumes from Solo or Rogue One or the OT or the PT or the ST ... it's up to ones own taste. So I take it easy if one does not like it as Long as I feel good wearing it

I just took some screenshot from the movie:

    1. There is a guy with two codecylinders in the right pocket and only one in the left. If I remember correct, with an uneven amount of cylinders, the cylinders majority was placed to the left, not on the right. Correct?

    2. Here we have some stills from Dryden Vos' party showing there were even some officers in the regular outfit, with jodhpur-breeches and riding-boots:

    3. And at last, to stick to the original topic here, there are the shots of the straight-legged-uniform:

Especially the last picture reminds me to the look of Galen Erso dressed up as the science officer in the Rogue One Visual Disctionary:

Here is the absolute best reference I can pull from that scene. Are these guys shown anywhere else?

These are sharpened and contrast tinted so that we can see details clearer. Dem shoes are SHINY!

Ok so what I see is no seams on the top at all.
    Shiny!
There appears to be a heel on them.
The heel view is sizable on the guys on the right side images I posted,

Also I agree Galens shoes look identical on the top. the heel may be a bit smaller (but that matters not!) close enough

These are straight legged pants of the same material as the tunic.  They have been available for years with the ISB Officer, which had less evidence than we have here now.

And yes you are correct, we have gone forward with less information (or incorrect information) than this for other costumes

Hey luvs! I just wanted to make sure everyone knows I'm still watching.. I wanted to bring up some of the concerns as I see some slightly heated debate starting.

The issue is (and I tend to agree) is that the reference is really blurry.

Now normally we could all say "Oh we can assume" (and I do say that a lot) however of all the Detachments I oversee (5 of them) This Detachment has had the biggest "blunders and blowouts" when it came to costumes that weren't accurate and the literal fallout from it. So please understand here that the main driving force for it being stalled is not about the costume being lazy, sloppy or otherwise. Its fear that we are wrong ...again.
Its hard to admit we are wrong and we have learned from past mistakes.

Example 1: We were pressured by membership to approve the First Order General with little to no (blurry) reference.
Blunder! The CRL is now gone and people are losing money on costumes they paid for and now cant have approved. I just had a guy post last week on the CRL thread. :/ That kills me inside.

Example 2: We allowed a costume accessory with little to no ref and BOOM! The entire world busted in half.

Those incidents were just in the last year....

I am extra cautious with this Detachment (and so is the staff) for good reason. Things get heated. So please do not see their less than approving stance as anything but concern for what could happen later. <3 You guys are great and this conversation should continue.
Anyone tried taking new/better screenshots from the film yet?

Shoes are a big factor, anyone see a good shot of them?

@Steven Nice work,! Makes me think about grabbing some more from Antjes fabric to do both variants of the pants.

I'd personally like to see it become it's own CRL as there are  at least three clearly  visible differences, four if the lack of gloves.
That's the exact amount of differences between the Line officer and the Grandmoff Tarkin CRL and nobody would suggest to make him a variant.

I’m thinking Beckett for sure is his own CRL as he has way too many variations.

However the other officers generally have a common look but with variations

It may just be a CRL that has quite a few optional items/accessories such as a fur collar on the coat, the leather yugo pouch, goggles etc.

I would think the base CRL for this, looking at the common thread in the handful of officers we do see would be:

-Basic Line Officer uniform tunic and pants
    -Matching Hat
    -Riding boots
-Basic Imperial belt, but with painted buckle
-R1 or Shoretrooper belt box(s) also painted
    -Mudtrooper style chest armor
    -Line Officer Overcoat, R1 style
    -R1 style rank and dosimeters
    -olive drab scarf

    (Optional)

-correct Soviet goggles with side greeblies
    -fur collar on overcoat
-Yugoslavian M53 Pouch w Oiler pouch
-side arm with holster, open to the same options as officers have now, add the se-14?

I’m also planning on replicating Bolandin’s look.

No one should be able to force their preference on others.  I may like the green uniform more than the ISB uniform but if 30 people want to come as ISB officers that is their choice.

we’ve known about straight pants on officers for 41 years.  Now we are seeing them more prominently in Solo and Rogue One.  They should be a permissible variant for the black and green uniform

I do not think that the possibility of a few people being too lazy to look for riding boots should stop us from making the Service Dress Uniform CRL or to include this uniform in the already existing Staff Officer CRL or Line Officer CRL, depending on what we will do in the end. Why should we punish the people that would like to wear an officer, but cannot find riding boots or jackboots in their sizes because of a possibility? Nobody shoots their dog because there is a possibility that it will get cancer or rabies.

If I could wear riding boots I would. I wear jackboots that are 4 sizes too big for me with 4 pairs of insoles, 2 pairs of thick socks and an added piece of leather so that I can wear my bridge crew. I am pretty sure that other people also try to do everything they can to wear a costume that they like. Unfortunately, that is not always possible.

There are 2734 officers in the 501st Legion, but only 12 of them are Imperial Science Officers and that CRL has been up for a while. There are also only 137 Warrant Officers and 143 Imperial Security Bureau Officers. The majority of our officers wear uniforms with riding boots even though that there are CRLs without them available. Why should that suddenly change just because we add another option to our CRLs? I'm pretty sure that most people will continue to buy riding boots. They are just too iconic.

The uniform was seen on screen, so by the rules of the 501st we can replicate it, create a CRL and wear it, it doesn't (or shouldn't) matter if anyone thinks that this uniform doesn't fit into the type of the classical Officers.
Just because someone wants to wear this uniform doesn't mean this person is lazy or wants to make something cheap. A good high quality Officer uniform is always far away from being cheap, no matter which style.

This happened to me way back when Rogue One was coming out into theaters but I don't think I shared the story...
I was working at a comic shop at the time so I decided to wear my suit to work (and then troop in it after work).
I was standing behind the counter doing whatever task I needed doing and then a man ran up, and screamed to his wife in the back of the store, "Hunny, come see General Huxley over here!" and then started taking pictures of me.

    "General Huxley"

Paggeldiwwer got a reaction from Demon4x4 in CRL suggestion Seperate "Rogue One ISB-Officer"
Looking trough the glasses of a GML, I have to say the actual ISB-CRL is very confusing because it contains two separate costumes and many options. The headline sometimes state the movie they are meant for in fat letters, sometimes a line below the header in thin letters. You have to jump back and forth to make sure the applicants combinations of costume is correct. If a GML makes such an experience, I do not wonder if an applicant faces such problems too.

That's why I am happy to see @StevenStefans proposal for having a single CRL for Rogue One and @PArmstrPatricias efforts for the ANH-ISB-CRL. Splitting these two costumes into two separate CRL's makes sense to me and will make it a lot easier to get along with the costume check.
