  1. Yes it met all the requirements for approval. Happy to say I have been enjoying directing Imperial operations here in West Australia for a while now, and I am even lucky enough to have a Death Trooper who joins me on occasion!

Yeah it should be fine with the holes in, I had mine extended by a tailor so no more holes, she did an excellent job =)

I hope not - the cape is required to be at a certain length from the floor I believe, but I hope all is well! It's quite windy over here often so I get some excellent flowing cape action on outside troops! Let me know if I can assist with any other questions, happy to help.

  2. It does come across slightly more than the cape in the films, but the quality is excellent and meets all the requirements. It's a good weight, fabric is thick and not see-through. It meets all the stitching, paneling, and length requirements.

However, be aware - it needs to be the right length for the user. I am exactly 6ft / 182cm and it's the perfect length for me, so if you are much taller or shorter than me it might not match.

The snaps are located just above where the code cylinders would sit central, and just slightly further back on the shoulder blades. They're a good strength too - have only had them come loose when reaching out at awkward angles.

It's definitely not the most perfect cut from front on, but everything else about it is fantastic quality and I'm perfectly happy with it.

Same applies for the tunic. It's comfortable, well lined, and great material. The ONE issue, and this is why the picture you've provided has the cylinders angled like that, is that the pockets are not deep enough for code cylinders without tailoring. It was the biggest disappointment of the uniforms (I have the black one too, same issue).

So you either have to have a tailor adjust the pockets, slice through the base so your cylinders will fit in, or cut your cylinders. They will absolutely not fit in straight otherwise.

Hope that helps! For reference, here is a pic of me (with the pockets tailored) so you can see what you think:

  3. Hello, yes it does =)

Have my V1 approved with it. Word of warning with it though, if you are shorter than 180cm / 6ft it is very likely going to trail along the floor. It is excellent quality though. It's designed to go with their white tunic too, as it comes with the snaps to affix it securely. It doesn't sit super flush against the collar out of the box though, as you can see below, but the whole kit is great.

  4. Hello! Nice to see you here.

Well first up is which version are you trying to get approved? There are currently 4, found here:

    https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:ID_Director_Krennic

Each one has the base of the uniform the same, but the accessories will be different, such as the rank badges, requirement for a hat, etc...

Since you said you've purchased a kit, what items do you have for it so far? If you could take some pictures of the items as well and post them into this thread, we can take a look and see how far along you are before sending in for approval

  5. There probably is, but i don't know who. I can look into it further for you when I'm back at my computer - but i only have phone access for the next couple days while I'm on a business trip. Likely someone will step in before i get back!

But no, absolutely correct, no need to go into any adjustments on the uniform until you get an answer on the colour.

As for the approval process, i think it's worth me summarising just so you have a rough idea of the steps:

You would make an account on your local garrison forum.

    Choose a CRL

Put on all elements required in the CRL - for you would be hat, jacket, jodhpurs, boots, gloves, belt, rank badge, code cylinder(s).

Take full body photos on a plain background from the front, left, right, back, without hat, and action pose.

Send photos in an email to your GML.

You will then receive your approval, or rejection with notes on what was not to standard.

There's no limit to rejection or anything to getting things approved, and rejection isn't a final thing - it just means some adjustments need to be made =)

I imagine what your GML is trying to do is eliminate the length of time it would take to approve. What would happen with your case and the colour, is the GML may not be sure the colour matches the CRL, so would seek help with it, which takes time. If you've already taken the time to get approval on the colour, that eliminates that step and makes the process much easier once you submit your application.

As for the DH17, it's up to GML discretion on what blasters are allowed on troops (within reason) so i would highly doubt there'd be an issue with actually trooping with the blaster, but you wouldn't put it in your approval photos. If that makes sense?

But this stuff comes a little later, so i apologise if I've said anything distracting from the main point!

With all that in mind, you've made an excellent start in looking into this yourself, so i just wanted to make a point of acknowledging you're on the right track with everything and doing a great job so far =) i hope with the help you get here, we'll be congratulating you on becoming a full member soon!

  6. Righto! Ok I can give some limited help then, but since I'm not with your local garrison or a GML, I can only give some basic advice.

Let's start with colour. Personally, the colour seems within acceptable margins, but i say this purely on what I've seen in my experience and so it carries no real weight. Lighting, background, camera, and other things contribute to perceived colour variations, and so while i agree the colour definitely isn't leaning towards the olive side, it could be more on the feldgrau. Of course, best assessment is in person, so if it's possible to meet with your GML to see it, that would settle the matter. If they are looking for an exception, i would imagine all they're looking for is command to say "this shade is acceptable for this CRL" rather than the creation of a brand new CRL, which is a rather expansive process.

I'm hoping the matter of colour can be settled by command staff when they see this thread. If they haven't replied within a week, it'll be worth reaching out with a PM.

For the hat, if you look at the CRL, it states it needs concentric stitching of at least 5 on the bill, and yours currently does not meet that from what i can tell. That being said, GMLs have access to extra discussion areas so this may have been an issue with an agreement already in place, so if your GML has no issue with it, please completely ignore my input on this.

One thing i might add - the DH17 isn't an approvable blaster for line officers at the moment, so when submitting pics for approval make sure you don't have it on!

Until someone higher steps in about the colours, it's a waiting game at the moment, but i hope I've at least helped a little in the interim. Any other general questions you have about anything please feel free =)

  7. Hello!

When you say it doesn't match any CRL, can you explain a little more? Did you create / purchase the uniform then try to match it to a CRL or did you intend to make it to a CRL standard? I'd like to help but I'm afraid you've been a little too vague with what exactly it is you're after. I know it may seem clear what it is you need, but there's a couple things going on here that we need to explore a little. Totally fine though by the way =) it all seems complicated at first but i promise it gets easier!

Have they said what is currently your barrier to entry? I am not a GML, but from the pics provided it appears that your hat at least does not match the criteria for the CRL. Your jacket also appears to have extra stitching visible at the front which I also think will exclude it from approval. Usually, GMLs will tell you what is not matching the CRL standard, so if you're able to let us know what info you've been given so far that would help us help you.

Has anything been said about the colour? Only asking because it seems to be the topic of your enquiry.

Coolajxl above already mentioned the colour debate, and given you some other good advice =)

Personally, the colour seems ok. I've seen so many slight variations and can't see an issue with it, but again I'm not a GML and don't have as good an eye for it as they do.

  8. The Denuo stuff is pretty great quality - it has a nice thickness to it which looks movie quality (for Non-Saga styles). The price has gone up, and the shipping out here to Aus is a bit of a killer, but if you did decide to go with it I don't think you'd be disappointed. I'm currently running the black uniform from Denuo, as well as the White tunic and cape for my Krennic, and the quality of those is fantastic. That being said, I did buy them before the price increase, so I understand your hesitation.

Other than getting them tailored, I think your only main option is Cossky? I'm sure someone will be able to point you in a better direction, but I just wanted to let you know that Denuo are damn good, despite being polyester blend.

Now that I think about it, I seem to recall that a new member from over East (in Aus) joined recently and said she was a tailor and may make uniforms. Have a look in the introduction area and see if you can find the thread I mean. If you can't find it, I'll take a look when I get a chance to have a browse later tonight. Would certainly save a packet on shipping!

I've posted a few photos of myself in the uniforms here: https://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/topic/15764-id-15740-terunis-tour-of-duty/#comment-196925

You can take a look for yourself what you think, if it's of any use to you!

  9. If I may add, and this is quite a humble opinion, but where it refers to being the appearance of wood, it may just be me on this but they seem to be trying to make it appear as not wood as possible? Every shot, at least to me, makes it look like the models they used were wood or wood imitation that they have tried to conceal to make it look more manufactured. Does the CRL mean wood appearance in that it has the ridges as in a real world grip would, or that it should be painted to imitate wood?

Sorry to be a pain, but it feels that if the CRL is worded that way it may give rise to subjective rather than objective opinions on the grips.

This could be me being over cautious though - in my current experience I've not seen or heard of any issues of this kind of thing, but I don't know why but there's something about that particular wording that I would feel would be remiss of me not to mention at least for consideration.

That aside, the rest of it is looking top notch =) Thanks you guys for the diligent efforts!

  10. Good point on the base model requirements - we can't have airsoft base in Australia so that would make it impossible for us. Best we can hope for are replicas (such as denix) if we're going for realistic as possible, but far more likely our bases will be toy ones with 3D printed add ons, or an entirely 3D printed blaster.

I know the proposal wasn't making airsoft base model L3 mandatory, but for what it's worth it would be nice if as kman suggested the model was less specific in case of availability issues. With the base being a mauser of either model i imagine it would pass close to perfect once all the additional extras are on?

Either way, this marks a great addition to the CRL. Thanks to all the thorough input from everyone =)
