  1. The story he told on the daily show, was that the door had just broken Harrison Fords ankle and in trying to lift the door off him he fractured a vertebrae.

They were talking about the fact that Harrison Ford is... "Unbreakable!"

  2. Funtasmas are a good all rounder, a lot of members use them here (even in the RL I've seen them on rebel fleet troopers and pilots etc), they're even slightly insulated (the lining is a sort of foam mesh fabric stuff). They've got decent support too (just add some comfortable insoles).

They look good, and the zip makes putting them on and taking them off easy.

Another glorious day in the Corps!

  3. That sounds like something I need. Could they be used for a tech?

I've posted more info over on your boot question thread about what I've found so far for those of us with Yeti feet.

As far as their use as Jack boots, it would depend on your height, tall (I'm more hulking than statuesque)- yes, short with clown feet - No, they'd be better for officers boots. Also remember you will lose some of the height once the ankle folds and stretches to fit you (watch for skin rubbing/blisters on the nub of the ankle)

    Hope that helps everyone equally.

(Geez 2 months ago I could barely find anyone with my size feet for advice, now you all come out of the woodwork, and I'm the one with the advice, hahaha!)

  4. I'm an australian cadet with 15/16C feet, and big calves and here's what I've found so far for Jack boots substitutes:

Funtasma/pleaser Captain Boots in XL are like a 14 to 14.5, the calf is pretty wide (I can get my hand down them to straighten my pants. But the foot is fairly narrow (definitely not EEE). Also, they're fairly high (I'm 6'8" so its in my favour). They have a zip up the inseam. But they are definitely not a 15, ouch! I'm going to try to stretch the toes lengthways(width stretching would be easier), you can get them Online (costume/fetish sites) or even a local costume store - that's where I got mine),

I'm also investigating Russian "Kirza/Kersey" boots ATM, don't know if the calf can be stretched ("...Kirza is a pig leather imitation based on the multi-layer cotton fabric, modified by film-forming substances. The name kirza is an acronym from KIRovsky Zavod (Kirov Plant), the first place of kirza mass production..."). I'd steer clear of soviet-power, www.sovietboot.com seems okay though.

Otherwise, check out a local biker Boot store. "Engineer" boots are based off Jack boots (the top buckle is reversed, the vamp is insideout and you'd have to remove the instep strap, the toe can be a little too square as well, and watch out for molded logo's. (The dream would be custom wesco's from bigblackboots But $$$). I haven't been able to get the time to look in person here in QLD yet.

Hope that gives you a good place to start (took me 2 months and 4gb on my phone to get this far with them, and that was with suggestions from at least 3 forums as well!).

I'll let you know if I find anything else, let me know if you find something I havent, cool? Isn't having big feet "fun"?

    The journey continues,

    SPOOOOOOOOOON!!!

  5. funtasma captains boots?

The zip is up the inside, so they're level 1 approvable (at least that's what they tell me). If you get them, get the XL, they're about a 14/14.5US, I'm 6'8" so on me they're Jack boot height (maybe 2 or 3" below my bent knee, now that the ankle folds are in). I'm still debating stretching them to the 15 I actually need.

IB go that high in a custom ID riding boot, but only for skinny feet, with extra wait time for the soles (and cost more $)

Depending on your height, the funtasmas could be an easy option for basic approval.

(I'm a cadet, so I'll let the experts weigh in now)

  6. Yes, some members were telling me about that this weekend at a troop.

I know long lead times are frustrating (the inner 5 year old wants it NOW!), I just thought I'd add my perspective.

(I complain about boots on at least 3 detachment forums, so I do understand the frustration. But its such a first world problem, you have to find the humour, [soft falsetto] otherwise I'd lose my tiny little mind).

  7. I barely know these guys exist, they can't ship down here, no license for Australia.

At least you guys get to complain about having to wait for stuff you've paid for, we've got to wait till the end of the year to find out if they're allowed to take our money, ironically the wait times should be ironed out by then.

  8. I'm going to preorder battlefront and get a controller for my HP beats AIO, plus I can play the OG copy of battlefront II I bought at a pawn store (I bought it to buy it, $3, didn't even have a PC at the time). Have to hunt down a PC Halo, I miss that 3 rocket warthog.

I see pinkeye in my future (video games can slow your blink reflex and your eyes dry out). Once played a solid hour of redfaction deathmatch against bots, turns out I was averaging 1 kill every 1.5 seconds, for an hour!!! I don't honestly know if I blinked at all.

I looked like an angry Terminator.

  9. Well he reckons he can do the 15us I need in a riding boot, which is something like a 49/50 euro. I'm sending my measurements later tonight after my pay hits my account. I'll post after I know if its going to happen!

I do know that jackboots literally can't go past 12us because they're outsourced, and soles aren't available/don't exist for custom boots.

  10. This. This has been my sticking point. If you're a size 7-8 foot, you'll probably be okay. If you're north of a size 9, you're going on a quest worthy of two short guys with a ring walking to a volcano.....

Size, 9... Ahahahahahahahahahaaaaah, [wipes tear from eye]. Try searching for size 15 for a while and we'll talk about quests that involve booking last minute flights to Mordor!

I'm only laughing because the alternative is crying!

  11. Yeah my feet are weird, long and thin with super high arches but they spread at the ball when I put my weight on them (like a jurassic park T-rex).

Makes a boot seem like it fits, but doesn't after an hour, until my foot stretches it to fit (2 weeks of constant pain!!!)

  12. I got the deluxe version at a chain dept. store for a price my book guy couldn't get from his supplier, I've got both versions of the other 3 as well. The deluxe doesn't have all the goodies between the pages like the rest did. But the pin is cool, as is the stormtrooper officer (no staff or warrant officers shown though!)

  13. It's a Festivus miracle,

My phone had forced my hand in upgrading to lolipop (choice of yes or ask later!!?). And it turns out certificates were being blocked in my settings. Now I've changed that I think It may have sent everything in the outbox all at once (Spaaaamtastic!), also I re-contacted us on ib's page, and Francois got back in a day! They make 15us ID boots!

I'll have to wait for them to make the sole before they can make the boot.

I'm waiting to hear back now, hoping I fixed my email, and he actually got my reply.

Figured it had to be Google's fault

(you just know they're either going to become the Umbrella Corporaton or Skynet!)

Makes me happy that I operate from the position of "what did I do wrong?" rather than "what's that guys problem?" (Apart from, you know, the whole is he lying dead in a ditch thing).

Oh great, I just realised I have to wear jodphurs with those boots... KAAAAAAHN!!!

(Oh, I forgot, their jack boots don't go past a 12us because they get them from someone else - and I just ruined a perfectly good out, Kahn?)
