So i measured and ordered custom officer boots from hessen antique, I just recently recieved them and I had an issue with them not fitting.  The issue was the opening of the boot was too narrow for my calf even with the custom measurements.  Additionally, I think they only used about a size 12US sole instead of a 13US.  The foot measurements I gave them clearly showed my foot was a full 1cm wider than the sole of the boot they sent me.  Additionally if I give detailed measurements of my calf, I would think that would allow them to craft the boots in such a way to make them fit.  They are the artisan not me.  Now it makes me wonder if they did that thinking they could get away with it but I digress.
 
I wouldnt rule out hessenantique if you had say normal or average feet but if you got giant hobbit feet like me you might want to look elsewhere.

They told me to ship them back to take a look, and they offered a full refund. The company is based in Georgia USA, but the custom boots are made in Spain.  I dont know who exactly is eating the cost on this, so I got lucky there but it still leaves me at square 1.

If any of you know of any boot makers that specialize in ogre feet please pass that along. 

The 2 higher levels are for the personal satisfaction of more accurately replicating the film costumes, with basic approval standards being sufficienly close enough for membership.

There are lots of ways to stiffen the flares on your officer pants. This is how I do it.
Purchase an iron-on fabric stiffener product that you like. I've use this one (HeatnBond) and one from Sulky:

Cut the stiffener to the size you want. This depends on how stiff you want the flare of the pant to be. I typically go with a width of the flare to the inside where it meets my leg.

Turn the pants inside out and place the cut out pieces under the flare to the edge and trim off to a rounded edge.


Iron the rounded cut out to the inside of the pant leg. Depending on how stiff you want the flares to be you may just want to stabilize the front of the flare or both front and back. I personally do both.


When the heat cools off peel the paper off.

Enjoy the stiffened flares. (that's an order)

So I was visiting Disney last week and spotted a new Hasbro toy blaster for Han Solo.  It is different from previous versions in that it has a longer barrel.  It also has some lights inside the flash suppressor which light it up quite nice.  I actually like this blaster a lot and am thinking of getting it to convert into an officer blaster. 
 

Looking at the box, I had no idea Han used an orange and blue blaster. I need to watch the movies again, I suppose.

Still waiting to hear back, sent a fresh contact us with my measurements after my reply with measurements, Nada!
But saw today that the website has improved significantly, so I've sent another fresh order.
They've gotten a little more cagey about what they call their boots (TK's are now "421's" and clones are "twins" - tee hee)

1st impressions:
Jacket fits good, neck hooks are awkward (but that's just my big meathooks)
Straight pants are a little snug at the waist (cardio?) Small pocket each side (does show below jacket, so just for photo ID or trading cards for kids)
Jodphur pants fit good, but the flares are as expected, wide'n'flappy, but that's an easy fix.
I'm going to frame the measurement sheet that came in the bag!

Watch the jacket's snaps, having to get one sewn back on at the waist by the dry cleaner, while I'm getting it pressed for my approval photos

Tall, but not a giant (sheldon moment - my mother had me tested, twice as a 5'10" 12 year old kid, for legit gigantism) Not a growth spurt kid either - 3'2" on my 2nd birthday!!!

Hard to provide advise as each persons tolerance to risk and loss is different. I will say its EBay so buyer beware.

Outside of finding used equestrian riding boots in exactly your size on eBay or a horse/tack shop, all i can recommend is what I'm doing right now - and get these:

Best and cheapest I've found for myself, but then I've got big feet attached to big legs, so its all relative (and I'm saving up for true custom-made at a later date).

Well, over on JRC, someone helpfully put these up as a thread. And someone else pointed out that they got a completely different pair of boots than the images from the same seller (links were removed, but I recognised the background in the photos).
Now I can understand that in a standard size they could have multiple pairs selling from one listing. And they're only selling one pair of 50's, so the likelihood that they're not the ones pictured is slim. But not slim enough, they've got a 100% rating, but I'm now very leery of them.
Anyone have an opinion about this?

I Put every measurement from the start of this thread plus an extra one my mother thought of (neck to shoulder). I'm getting an extra pair of straight leg trousers made (yes, I know any black pants yadda yadda but I decided Meh!). I'm also getting a small top opening pocket on the right side of both, for an aluminium billfold/card holder. I asked for the flares to be moved so that their centre was at the crotch, as well. If they're too big, they're easily taken in.

And now the waiting game begins (and my good natured ribbing of others about anovos wait times comes back to haunt me).
