Looking at the new trailer, it looked like no jodspurs on the uniform pants.
Still looks like jodhpurs in this shot:
The good thing though is both the trench coat and the uniform jacket have POCKETSES! 8)

I so hope the actual hats end up being fur lined. I'll make one for trooping and one for everyday wear.

I drafted my pattern a little strangely so this may or may not help. The bottom edge of my jacket was pretty curved, so instead of folding up an inch or two of hem I made hem facing pieces that were I think 3 inches long. I sewed all the facing pieces together, then sewed that to the bottom edge of the jacket using a 1/2 inch seam. I then understitched that seam to help the facing stay in place, and then I stitched the lining to the upper edge of the facing.
Let me know if that makes sense...I can take pics of the inside of my jacket if that will help.

I'm guessing either ghost form/vision, or clones. I really, really hope there is no Vader clone, though. Let's just accept the fact that he's dead and move on to the next big bad guy.

Nice!! Kinda want to try this myself now.

Sweet!!

Ahhh, that was you I saw at the con! You looked fantastic!

A half inch maybe? The good thing is the modesty panel will help cover a collar gap; just don't make it too big because then it looks obvious.

I just want some more reference images so I can start drafting a pattern! :D

Many decent shoe repair/cobbler shops can stretch boots for you. There are also tutorials online (maybe even linked here; I can't remember) on how to do your own stretching. You can get a good inch or two extra out of a pair of leather boots; it just takes patience and time.

There is a similar designation. Info is contained in the 501st Only section of the forums. If you can't see those (they're all the way at the bottom), request access on this thread: http://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/topic/1670-501st-ioc-member-status-requests/(be sure to include a link to your profile on the main 501st page!).

They also have a longer length...for like $112.

There's not a lot of texture to the art in this show it seems, so I'm having trouble 'reading' the fabric. From the character design you posted, though, I think cotton twill is an excellent choice. Easy to work with, comfortable, and it makes sense to dress your cadets in something like that (rather than, say, leather).
Also, that blaster is sweeeeeet.

I haven't had this problem (yet!) but as weird as it sounds...a thin coat of olive oil?
Alternately, you could get some clear matte-semi-gloss spray paint and give the buckle a few coats. It'll help seal the metal and shoudln't affect the look of it too much. Just don't get super glossy paint.

No go on those boots because of the back zipper. Level 1 boots can have a zipper but it needs to be on the inside of the calf. (Level 2 and 3 boots can't have a zipper at all.)

Can you order a swatch of the fabric? Oftentimes that's the best (sometimes only) way to tell if a fabric will definitely work.

Holy crap, that was so much fun to watch. I feel for them trying to put the kits back together though...trying to separate out what's a Death Star piece and what's a Super Star Destroyer piece is going to be a pain!
...I really want that Super Star Destroyer.

I haven't ordered anything from them, but I'd assumed that since they had prototypes they'd already done all the work in terms of patterning, materials sourcing, vendor relations...basically everything in the product development process except throwing the pile of money at the garment factory to get production going. (They don't mention anything about where the items are produced so I'm going to assume overseas; domestic production is a big enough draw that most anyone using domestic shops will have a big MADE IN THE USA plastered everywhere.) Even if they were having the fabric custom-made like they did with a lot of the Star Trek uniforms, it still wouldn't take this long. Either they've got a backup at the factory, or a hold-up in customs, or something to that effect.
I notice that a lot of stuff on their site is listed for pre-order, including every single Star Wars item they have. Has anyone here actually bought something from them, especially if it was a pre-order item, and had it arrive in a timely fashion? When you pre-order from them, do they take your money then and you just wait for your item to arrive?

SO SHINYYYYY
I read something today about the Star Wars costume exhibit at Discovery Times Square in NYC. Apparently there are some TFA costumes in the exhibit, including some "never before seen" stuff. One hopes that there may be an officer costume on display at last, and that someone will be nice enough to take a million pictures of it for us.
