  1. Hello. I posted this in another thread, but feel it may warrant it's own for discussion.

I know initially this will cause some folks discomfort, but I think, IMHO, in the end, the Staff Officer and Navy Trooper IN Dress need a complete revamp.  Keeping 451 officer and Navy Trooper separate and as is.

This new CRL would combine two old ones, update and clean it up.

They can become 'Fleet Commanders,' or 'Fleet Troopers,' or something similar.  Seen in RotJ, RO, Rebels, and Solo.  Black uniform, boots with variations, optional helmet, optional Imperial Ground Crew chest plate, optional poncho, optional raincoat. Etc.  It can be like the Imperial Gunner with variations.  Or, if you don't want to do the variations, can just specify specific to which reference, i.e., helmet only on RO or Solo makeup, etc.

I think we'd kill at least 2 birds with one stone here.  And this could really clean up a convoluted mess between the two currently.

The longer we push this off, the more of a mess it'll become.  What do you think, for or against and why?

My opinion is to make the current Staff Officer CRL into a Rogue One Staff Officer CRL, because we see Officers with exactly that type of uniform in R1 and thanks to Glyn Dillon we also have a couple of possible ranks for them.

I think this is a good way to

A - make it correct about what is ANH and what is not ANH uniform

    and

B - no one would have to sell items like rank bar, code cylinders whatever.

Except aren't the RO code cylinders silver clipped and not brass?

I'm not sure what the brass clipped ones are for anymore outside of ANH?

The IN CRL wording is correct. The only INs who ever wore the 451 were the two in the Star Wars Holiday Special, which we "could" do a CRL for, but....it's the Holiday Special. lol.

Oh... That's epic.  I thought I read elsewhere that indeed the INs wore the 451s as well.

    Good to know and thanks!

To reiterate what Kris said above so it is crystal clear, if you already have a staff officer, are working on a staff officer, or planning to create the staff officer which matches the current CRL, you are fine & have nothing to worry about.  I do hope the 451 will become the standard at some point. Since the staff uniform has been the way it is for so long, and has been (let's face it) our most common IOC uniform, correcting it has proven difficult, especially since so many other things always popped up to take priority for the IOC's focus. I am excited to see this get such a huge push in the right direction. Now we just need all the Cosplayskys and similar makers to jump on board. :)

Not to be obnoxious or start drama, but since we now know ANH only wore the 451's (if I'm correctly recalling other posts), do you think it's time to update the Black Staff Officer so that no reference to ANH is on it?

For me, I won't wear my Staff Officer black uniform as ANH from now on just because I now know it's not movie accurate (kind of the point of the 501st standards).  I did just yesterday get approved as a RotJ Warrant Officer, so it's not like a loss.  All is good except I'll sell my code cylinders and rank badges I had (Ensign and Commander).

I just hate seeing all the new Staff Officer's coming on board thinking they are mimicking an ANH Officer, and we know they technically aren't.

I was thinking that we should now have the 451 CRL, which looks great, staff Officer black CRL (referencing EU), and clean up Warrant Officer to cover RotJ and ANH if those in straight leg pants fit into this category.

Also, the Navy Trooper in dress CRL makes a comment with regards to ANH wearing a black version of the ISB Agent, but it appears that is incorrect as well if they were also wearing the 451.

Just my shower thoughts the help the CRLs be as accurate as possible.

  5. Hello.

If someone could confirm for me in case I'm misreading.

I currently have an approved Staff Officer uniform.  Trying to be as movie accurate as possible, to be ANH Staff Officer, I'd need to get the new 451 style tunic and get silver clipped replica dosimeters instead of brass clipped.  Correct?

Second then, in the mean time, the deluxe Cosplaysky staff outfit would be for ESB or RotJ Officer's or Navy Troopers, correct?

I just wanted to confirm I understand the changes.  I know I'd be grandfathered in to the old CRL, but I don't want to tell folks I'm wearing a movie accurate costume (in my black Cosplaysky Deluxe Officer's Commander, Lt., or Ensign configuration uniform) knowing I'm wrong now as it's not a 451 tunic.

    Thanks

  6. Dart is the stitching on the yoke right under the collar.

The yoke is the actual flap that goes across the chest and snaps up.

The modesty panel is the cloth behind where the collar cones together.  It'll have the eye hooks on it... Makes it so you can't see skin behind the collar closure in case there's a small gap (which hopefully there isn't).

Princess seems are the curved seams on the back of the tunic.

Sorry I don't have pics but hope this helps.

If you get the cosplaysky deluxe these will all be there.

Hi, I was trying to join the 501st. I had purchased the deluxe imperial dark gray naval line officers uniform. But I was rejected. I was told the gray uniform was not be accepted by that garrison or maybe the 501st any more. It has t taken me over a year to put it all together  I know the boots are not appropriate. But they were all I could find this year.

    Sorry to hear that.

It's true, only one character from Star Wars Rebels, Governor Pryce, wears a gray uniform.  Everyone else wears the black, white, or olive green.  If you watch the original trilogy, the color is poor due to lighting and such, and although most wear olive green, it appears gray.

  8. This is such an interesting thread.

I think the CRLs could use a tidying up, but not sure I have the answer.

For starters, I'm strictly a Canon person.  That's just me and my OCD.  Anything Legend or otherwise I'm just not interested in, but I know that's not a widely held view.

Also, although I enjoy TCW and Rebels, and Video games as well, the details will never match live action.  Whether artists interpretation, or just lack of knowledge, and/or money to do it correctly, etc., we'll always be having tons of variations of what could be a standard, but won't be due to different mediums used.

I'm not even sure I'm making sense, so maybe I'll just follow the posts for a bit and try to clear up my thoughts, lol.

    Hello fellow officers!

For those who have ordered custom-sized costumes from Cosplaysky, how long was the shipping time to Canada?

If you haven't ordered yet, I just got 2 uniforms from them and I asked them to take 2 cms off the flares and they came the perfect size.  Just a thought.

Also, if you ask them to add stirrups to the pants, they will.

    Just a friendly FYI.

In this case I recommend the CosplaySky Star Wars Uniform Deluxe, a lot of our members have this one:

It is currentyl on sale, and I highly recommend to order a custom made uniform, it's worth the money.

I also agree with this.  Currently, the turn around time is about 14 days as I ordered the green and ISB from them a few weeks ago (already did the black uniform in 2015).

Actual rank is Army Captain. Would be pleased to find the equivalent.

We are having some discussion in the Navy Trooper sub forum and it's been confirmed, via Twitter, from one of the clothing folks from Rogue One, that the Officer working the Shield Gate above Scariff was a Captain.  He was wearing a 4 blue button rank badge, and looked just like an Officer but had the Trooper helmet on.

    Just an FYI.

I think it's just a matter of time before either the Officer or Trooper CRL will get updated with that info (I don't believe they'll make a new CRL just for the Shield Gate Officer Captain).

  12. I'm in the same boat.  I received a Major bar yesterday.  I've requested a remake or refund.  The buttons are all funky, and for $21. + Shipping, I feel this is bit unacceptable.

Will try to attach a pic later as it won't let me at the moment.

Edit...She did refund my shipping to send it back and have remade, so this is good.

What I thought was interesting from the Tweets was that Glyn mentioned that this was "security officer...captain." If we were to add a CRL for it, perhaps we could make a third entry for the Navy Trooper in the IOC list - "IN - Imperial Navy Trooper: Security Officer" (or something of that sort) to reflect the distinction.

    Hmm, this is interesting.

So if he's a "Officer," then this would be working off the officer CRL, unless a new Security Officer was to be created.

I agree that since he's RO, it would use the smaller boxes.

Also, that picture has him with a blaster that traditionally officer's didn't use in the past.  I'm almost inclined to say that picture doesn't represent the Shield Gate Officer.

Also, he says that the 4 bars make him a captain, but normally I believe this would be a lieutenant.

I am glad though he confirmed an officer as opposed to a trooper.  But I don't think he is correct when he calls him a Security Officer Captain.

  14. Well, I've looked high and low all over the internet for a body shot of the Shield Gate Officer/Trooper and haven't had any luck.

Lol... I even tried to message Leland Chee and Pablo Hildago for clarification, but of course, no luck with that.

I'd love to move forward with this, but I'm afraid I'm out of options, so I hope one of you all will somehow fare better than me.

Therefore, our CRL journey continues... Is this an (ID) Officer with the helmet or an (IN) Trooper with rank...

If there is enough reference then yes

I'm going to hold off then ordering an E-11 and see what the consensus is and/or if the CRL will be updated.

Hopefully this can be resolved in the near future.

Thanks for the info / help.

  16. So, do we think the CRL will be updated to reflect the R1 Shield Gate Officer?

Will it basically be an officer with jodhpurs & riding boots, Lt. rank, 2 brass clipped blue tipped code cylinders, and the Navy Trooper helmet?

Will they be allowed to wear the optional DH17 or MSP5?

I'm trying to order an IN helmet now (from Capt. Radu).  When I submit for approval, I want to be able to point the GML to what this is since no one in the Carolina Garrison, that I'm aware of, has this setup.

For me personally, this matters because it will mean do I do an ESB IN dress uniform and have to buy an E-11 and holster (cause I also want the optional accessories), or will the Shield Gate Officer become a thing, and I can already use my DH-17, or my favorite MSP5.

    Thanks.

I've done a break down of the uniforms from ANH here:

    http://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/topic/4698-officer-uniform-configuration/#entry53635

I've cleared to Imperator level with the Malcolm Weaver costume - unidentified gantry officer. There is some debate as to whether the officer had 2 or 3 buttons. Even on the bluray it's not clear. I cleared with 3 buttons, and the boss says 3 so we're going with 3.

Just to confirm... For Malcolm Weaver, he is a 2nd Lt (I had him noted as midshipman)?  The graph on the front looks to show the rank plaque buttons with larger spaces in between, but the fuzzy photo seems to have the buttons normal width apart.  Would you accept either, or is there a preference?

I ordered a new plaque from Tigge, but asked for the buttons to be normal without the exaggerated spacing.  Just want to confirm.

  18. Did you guys ever receive your hats... looks like they're still pre-order.

Also, not sure what the difference, if much, will be between the $50 and $100 hats.

Just wanted to see some feedback, if any yet.

  19. I noticed a little forum thing just now.  The "rank" that you get based on the number of posts.  I'm curious to see the whole hierarchy.  Does anyone know where to find it?

Was wondering that myself too... I usually just overlook the whole rank thing, but I do like the little pins under the ranks I see some people have :)

  20. For my point of view apart from Veers who went into the field most line officers did not thats what staff officers were for, line officers stayed at command posts like the bridge of a Star destroyer where they had no need for a side arm

That makes sense.  Thanks for that because, as I have no military experience, I wasn't really sure the difference.

  21. Can an Imperial Army Officers have the rank of General (while wearing a black uniform)?  It looks like Veers (ESB) has a olive green uniform, as well as Tagge's (ANH).

Are there any canon black uniform generals?  If not, what is the highest we're aware of (and be canon)?
