#2 - That angled stitching on the front panel - it has a seam along the top edge of the 3 lines of topstitching. I suspect this was an easy way for the costume makers to consistently mark on both sides where they wanted that those lines of stitching to go. But anyway - there's a seam there and then the 3 topstitching lines right below, the seam is only on the front layer of fabric, but I think the topstitching goes through both layers of fabric.

A comment from when I had mine done - my tailor stated it had to be two panels because getting that topstitching in there over both panels without the seam would make the fabric buckle - not sure if he was right or not, but offering that out there.  I do think the seam also helped them match up the stitching - if you cut the panels from the same pattern, there's no question on where the stitching goes. :)

I just sent the request to join! I will also invite my partner. And ah! Armor party! I know several people who are in that group! I would LOVE to come out and meet you all this weekend; I'll ask her if she is also interested! What's the info on the location and times? :)

I...honestly had no idea that there was a Dark Empire/Alliance group, and that sounds fantastic. I'll check them out!

    Here you go.  https://www.facebook.com/TDEKorribanTempleDFW/

As for the AP, I pinged one of the admins to get you added in the group, once you are I'll point you to the party

As for my Sith Warrior, I'm not going to be building off of any direct reference from the game, and instead just create a design that's based on the Sith aesthetic. I'm not comfortable exposing my midsection, for example, but I am able to construct pieces of armor for a given design. I was going to approach it the way I would approach a costume design for a stage production, drafting a design based on a design board with inspirations and references from the canon materials. I didn't think that was acceptable (though the hair and makeup approach will certainly be canon - she is a Chiss, and I have experience in body paint and wigworking. :) )

FYI, this would totally work for Dark Empire (Dark Alliance?  I get the names messed up) - I can get you in touch with our local reps on that - they allow custom siths and are a LFL approved group, so they come hang out with us on troops.  Several of our members are also part of it, so there's a lot of crossover.

I would be totally fine with both ways ;) sadly we can't use our white tunics for this because we have all the snap buttons on them :P

True, but as I upgrade I'll have one I can use - make it easier to do things in without the cape.  And give us another option for L2/L3 approvals. :P

Maybe keep the ANH ISB CRL as is . The fact that the tunic is the same as regular Officers in RO is most likely due to the fact that the costuming department isn't as picky as we are , but could be explained in-universe that the Weapons Research Department was " part " of the ISB , but not really ISB at the same time . So they adopted the colour , but could still be differentiated from their actual ISB counterparts .

I was just thinking give the option for either.

As I pointed out in another thread, at some point we probably need to reclassify the Staff Officer as Rogue One and do a proper ANH Staff Officer CRL.

    Long range goals though.

  6. I also think while we're mucking with it we can throw in the flashback Krenic with no cape and the 6 red tiles.  Although the ISB officers in RO had the same tunic as Krennic, so that might just be an update to the ISB CRL?

And if we want to be picky , the haircut he sports while wearing the raincoat always seems a bit longer than when he wears the cape . I suppose all the scenes where the raincoat is worn were shot at the same time .

Probably.  My wife was getting thrown off by his changing accent, but I think due to it I was able to pick out the reshoots.

It is important to have 3 or more visual references for a new CRL model as well.  The higher quality the better.

Does it matter if they're all from the same source anymore?  I know at one point they were supposed to be separate sources (movie, toy, etc)

At least there's one good point about having the " official CRL " live .
Now we know where we can all refocus our efforts to reach that general consensus we were aiming for , there won't be any more unexpected surprises as the bulk of the work is done .

Sooner than later everything that needs to be tweaked will be modified , and a revised version of the CRL will be submitted .
The only thing we'll have to worry about then with be the BluRay release that might bring to light some details that we hadn't seen before .

Since this is your purview now, I'll ask - are you of the opinion Rain Krennic should be an addendum, or a separate CRL?

Thanks, yeah sorry about that, the UKG boards are black with white text and it didn't cut and paste very well.

FYI for future reference, at least in this version of the boards, when you dump text a thing will pop up at the bottom asking if you want to remove formatting.

Helps us old people that don't have to dye our hair to pull this character off :P (for real though - every time I get a hair cut I look down and go "I wasn't that grey...  wut?")

There is no mention in the CRL about the belt greeblie. Even though it is markedly different from the usual greebs, it is not mentioned as a requirement.

Can I take it then I don't really need to make any more?

I'd imagine this was an oversight for L2/L3 - As Kris said, stand by. :)

I for one would like to get one when my taxes come in.

  12. Just now, Daetrin said:

That should be in its own thread. :)  FWIW, they were the best BJ & I could do at the time after hours squinting at the movies, and we were making tons of changes already.  What's the saying?  You should have seen the before pix. LOL

You'll get no dispute from me on that.  I had someone show me the old ones.  Lol.

Back to the IA though - Yes, let's get to work on it.  Get some good pictures (I think I still have SWTOR installed), and let's go.

As your your Sith, son't be so sure it's not 501st approvable - the Acolyte is already a CRL in Flagship Eclipse I believe - wouldn't be too far of a stretch for yours.

  13. 1 minute ago, Daetrin said:

OTOH, Daala olive uniform probably wouldn't require a new CRL if we started today, as the only difference between her & a regular officer is the hair really.

Although we probably do need to fix the black uniforms and create a proper ANH one - the current one is more Rogue One. :D

Just when it's implied that you're not being a team player and hiding things it just annoys me, everyones seen the amount of details that I posted in my WIP and so forth, probably shared to much, but only did so people can learn and not make the same mistakes I did.

This probably came from the fact (if I were to hazard a guess) that there was a general consensus (as close as one could be had) on the CRL in the discussion thread, and then when it came out the other end the CRL was more closely matching your costume (the specifics on attachments and buttons and the like) and so on.  While I recognize that probably was born from LMO alterations, I can see how someone could possibly assume that you had submitted text as well.

Your WIP is awesome (save one thing - the text color in most of it is hard for this old man to read, but I can pull it into a word doc and fix that so I can read it).

  15. 3 minutes ago, Daetrin said:

Small changes and clarifications are pretty easy to incorporate, and I'll loop with Mark on that as it's not something readily apparent even from looking at the Charter/Ops Protocol.

Good to know.  I think the CRL as a whole isn't horrible - like people have said, just needs some tweaks.

And Michael, I'm not sorry you were chosen.  I am sorry if I or anyone else made you feel like we were mad at you - speaking for myself, I'm not.  (If you didn't see, I jumped in immediately on the FB post when someone said yours wasn't accurate.)  I think yours is spot on, and while we might disagree on attachment points or how many snaps are required to seal oneself into the tunic, I will have your back as far as saying that your costume nailed it.

If I made you feel otherwise, my apologies sir.

We can propose " variants " of certain accessories so as to allow people to make different combination .
    For instance let's take the collar : Version A - silver . Version B - red , etc ...

Take a look at the Shoretrooper CRL if you want a good example of this.  (In spite of all the moaning over that CRL)

  17. 2 minutes ago, UnusedPizza said:

I had no idea they were going to go to the level that they did with the CRL and use my attachment method. I have no issue with it being chaged

I think most of the frustration is that the text was not written off the screen used prop - if we had done that, ok, we could all not like it, but if we're saying Level 3 is matching LFL, then fine, if they did it this way so will we.

  18. Just now, UnusedPizza said:

the buttons go into belt elastic, should an emergency happen then they will pull out, plus you can see the stress lines of the attachments in the photos of the original costume, so the two are attached.

Not sure I agree, his cloak collar was moving up and down depending on his movements - granted, there were 12 (*TWELVE*) separate cloaks for different scenes, so it could be an argument made on both sides depending on the scene.

Either way if the buttons are maintained at level 2 I will not be going for it, as I have had clothing caught in things and the thought of not being able to get out of it in a hurry scares me.

  19. 2 minutes ago, Steven said:

@UnusedPizza as said before you did a great job and I really believe that the way you did it keeps the cloak in perfect place. I think all we wanted to say with the previous posts is that the people should have the freedom to decide how they attach the cape to the tunic, as long as nothing is visible and the cape is kept in its place :)

I'll second this.  I think yours looks fantastic.  This isn't a debate over making it look better, this is a debate over attachment points and hidden things that shouldn't be documented as required, and should simply be noted as hidden attachments that make the costume look like the screen prop.

  20. 2 minutes ago, UnusedPizza said:

Just to point out they are not plastic snaps used to secure the cape, please reread the CRL, it is a mix of snaps hooks and plastic buttons. the snaps I have are metal. the cape remains attached at all times except for cleaning.

I trooped at the weekend in windy conditions, with lots of children and had no issues, now I'm not saying that my attachment method is better than anyone else, however it the wind and kids pulling on it, it remind it place, kept it's correct look, even when the wind was blowing and causing it to fan out.

have a look at my WIP for more details

Buttons are almost more of an issue to me - a snap can come loose in an emergency, a button cannot.  If you were to get your cloak caught in something (say worst case scenario, a moving stairway (because for real, who would be in one of these around a wood chipper :P ), could you get out of it in time before you started to be choked?

I absolutely get making it look good - but I need no buttons or snaps on my collar, it's built with interfacing inside and that plus the double fabric plus the stitching keeps it upright.

  21. I also have a serious question - while I know I put it in, if you watch the scene with Krennic yelling at Jynn on the tower, when they go to closeup, he very clearly does NOT have a privacy panel.  You can see 4 eye-hooks and his throat though the small gap.  Is that something we're going to ignore, or at some level do you need to lose the privacy panel?

Something else we all need to keep in mind:  We only submit a suggested CRL to the LMO, his team will use portions of one and parts off another one.  It is extremely rare for any CRL to be published as submitted.  All we can do is ask for the revisions and Eric is more that agreeable that we will update this specific one.

    Learned something new today.
I think they shouldn't have qualified the Level 2/3 stuff the way they did, but as you say, hopefully we can get that fixed.  I would have to completely redo my attachment to put that many snaps on - and the plastic snaps are more prone to breakage, I refuse to use them, honestly.  I've swapped all the plastic ones on my tunics out for metal.
