In case anyone reads anything into this I'm not having ago or moaning, just more curious about the process and how the CRL work is going behind the scenes

Is there any update on when the Krennic CRL will be published as I know there are several of us waiting on it. Not knowing the process, I'm curios as to why it is taking so long when the CRL discussion has been running for a while, there have been several builds on the go for a while, I included a CRL style post in my WIP and I've been asked to be the model on the CRL so I'm assuming it is going to be soon?

also posted this in my WIP

    Thanks Michael

It was submitted to BJ, with the holidays and the movie and the LMO out of the country I wasn't expecting anything until january at the earliest.  I'm sure if there's an update or items needed we'll hear.

He has a point. It is not obvious on screen and not a big part of his character unlike, say Thrawn, where it is clearly a different colour.

It clearly says optional as in you can if you want but dont have too same as any characters including Thrawn but remember this is a WIP

It was brought up in the thread earlier - read back.  The fact that people mad a point about it lead me to putting it as optional.  As to why some do and some don't - I believe Hux and Tarkin have brown eyes (I could be wrong, didn't check before I answered) - most of the CRL's with eye color have something that is genetically not standard (i.e. Blue, Green, Red, Purple, etc).

Not a big deal for me, I have blue eyes (mutation in my family), but personally, I don't think it's a big deal.  It's more in there for accuracy sake.

  3. So quick question. Let me start by saying that I am completely new to any sort of cosplay. Recently found out about 501st and want to join. Once I saw Krennic, I knew what I wanted my first costume to be. Having said that, I impulse bought the CPS Krennic ensemble when it was on sale for 119. Didn't look bad to me.  I did not have them sew on the ridiculous rank bar. Gloves, belt, are crap. So having said that, would the tunic and pants still be able to be utilized? I intentionally ordered the size a little big. Figured it's easier to take in fabric than add it. Sonic they can be used for approval, that would make me happy. Thanks for all the wonderful info an s talent here!

Post some pictures in a WIP thread you start. We can give better feedback that way. I know I shied away from it, but the tunic and pants may be ok, I just haven't seen them well enough

As for the back seam. Again, replicating what you see, no seam on Thrawn, no seam should be the basic. Yes it makes it harder to do, yes the public won't care.

That's why I questioned if allowing the basic tunic would be a better option - if the public won't notice or care, isn't that what Level 1 is for?  You look like the character.  Level 2/3 is looking more screen accurate - as one person explained to me, L1 is so the average person recognizes you (or calls you Darth Vader if you wear black :P ), L2 is so we notice the differences, and L3 is so people with high interest in the character notice the differences.

Just putting it out there - Tarkin wasn't drawn with the princess seams, but he had them when he was back in Rogue One.

    Here you go Len:

All EAO, type 01-901 on badges, type 31-903 (have twin prongs as type 01-903) between, which are the same size as types 51-903 (have single round clip) and 61-9331 (same design as 51 but w/ frosted lens). Ruler showing inches on the left.

    31649968832_c8d23b341b_c.jpg

The only problem with type 01-903 buttons is that, unlike all the other EAO types, such as these type 31-903 buttons, the amber is opaque rather then the proper transparent.

Edit: PS, the lighting is a little harsh and makes the type 01-903 buttons look more opaque than they really are, but they are more on the translucent side compared to the type 31-903 buttons.

Are the two in the middle in the top picture elevated, or are they THAT much larger than the other push buttons?

And did you round off the bars yourself?

Fellow Officers , here is a good article from the LA Times about Krennic's costume , it seems they got a few of the costuming department people to talk a bit . In short , we all already knew several capes had been made for the movie , it's obvious they just don't use one or two . So according to the article there were TWELVES different capes . Some more light-weight , some more heavy , some waterproof , basically one for every situations . And most likely a couple just in case one was dirtied during a shot or something .
They confirm the cape is white and not a light shade of grey , although they seemed to regret their decision at some point .

The only odd thing that strike me in the article is that they say the cape was made of gabardine , while the Celebration board states " cotton weave " .
So i suppose some were made from cotton , others from gabardine . I wish they would've made it clear which ones , or what the raincoat / poncho was made of .

Thank you for the article - I have the collectors magazine that has that concept art, looking at it on the screen I realize that's pretty close to what they used for the actual rain jacket.

Doesn't surprise me they used multiple capes and multiple fabrics - depending on the shot and lighting they needed it to do various things.  The closeup where he's growling that he will not fail was absolutely a heavier fabric than the scene where he walks into the Scariff control room - in that scene you can see through his cape.

If you look at the model the princess seems are not the ones we are use to on the Original Trilogy Officers, where they turn out into the sleeves.

To be honest, all that would need doing is cutting the pattern along a line and add seem allowance.

    Thrawn - Back.png

Maybe - I'm not a good enough sewer (seamstress?) to be able to say, I just know what I've seen on some Rebels builds - the lack of the back seams shows if the tunic isn't made JUST right.

I approve! Gloves should definitely be an option for the new Grand Admiral, especially for Thrawn. It's an absolute hassle to paint your hands blue because that limits your movements and what you can touch very heavily.

So don't paint them.  Liquid latex, let dry, it's basically a blue glove that looks like your hand now.

I'm not doing Thrawn, but if I was that's what I'd do.

We were aware the prototype did not have a modesty panel and were hoping that was going to be corrected

They may be going off some of the R1 costumes that didn't have them - if you look closely you can tell Krennic doesn't have one, and I thought I spotted a couple of officers without one.

I was interested to see how it closed - no zippers.  Not sure if I like the buttons better or not - I'll have to think about it before I have a new tunic made.

Isn't the notch supposed to point up?

Looks like a decent hat, otherwise.  Can't really judge proportions from that angle, of course.

Yeah.  He said it spins freely, so you'd have to do something about that.  And I agree on the angle.

It's twill, so it's for Pilots/Bridge - which makes sense, he's making pilot gear.

True! I wish I was better at actually *making* uniforms rather than just buying them so I could contribute some to the process of uniforms myself. I honestly don't think Phasma gets enough love (but maybe it's just because she's my favorite character since Boba Fett) but you're right, the FO-TKs are quite common now. I wish I saw more of them wearing the chest rig that you see a few of them wearing on Jakku and Starkiller base.

We have one here that wears it - he said they guy that was making them quit because they were, in his words, "a flaming pain in the ass" to make.  As far a Phasma, we have one in Star - the issue is the chrome, and the different helmet - there are makers for the helmet, but the chrome seems to be the failing point on a lot of her builds

That and people who wanted to make her were disappointed in her character in 7 and decided not to.  Hopefully 8 will fix that - she did come off as kinda weak in 7.
