  1. Veers to ACD made sense.  From a pure military point of view, ACD (Armored CAVALRY Detachment - emphasis on the second word) Veers was commanding the Empire's "Cavalry" - AT-AT and AT-ST walkers.

Thrawn, Price and Tarkin are not commanding Cavalry.  They are effectively Generals on the field.  And a General is a commanding OFFICER.

Tarkin is an Officer if he's in armor for field work or bunny slippers because he doesn't like the feel of his boots.  Sorry, but I'll ride and die on that hill, "feelings" be damned.

Thats not entirely true. JRS almost exclusively uses XWing style code cylinders, not dosimeter style. The only CRL that does is the 181st Dress Uniform, and I just checked and they still allow chalk holders.

Just in case you think he's fibbing -  http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TI_181st_dress_uniform

Please can we stop trying to get all elitist at Level 1?  Even Kris and Cari said it's good, albeit for different reasons, but still.

I personally think that Krennic should have three CRLs, cape, poncho, neither (party scene). I SB should also have two.

I agree with Ross - we keep pointing out that FISD has ANH Hero and Stunt when the difference is the helmet and the rivets on the holster basically.

It makes it much easier for GMLs.

You can find them on Facebook they also make hats and match cosplaysky olive hats for people

Unfortunately, that automatically loses you the argument - Facebook is not accessible in many countries and therefore cannot be uses as a vendor resource.

We don't have 15 belt makers or hat makers but we don't allow cosplaysky stuff

No, but we have several, and the blanks can be bought from Tandy worldwide.  And there's several greeble makers, though the only one I know offhand is Elvis because that's the only one I use.

The chalk holders can be made by people if they can't afford to buy one of the more expensive ones.  The same cannot be said for dosimeter style ones.

Agreed.  I took a close look at that when it first came out, all excited.

And then promptly noped the hell out.

LOL.  Yeah, one of our younger members was asking one of the seamstresses here what the point of all the stitching was.  We pointed out the point was probably some designer at LFL going "hey 501st, HAVE FUN!" and cackling sadisticly

  7. I want to address something I keep seeing brought up - "it's more expensive to upgrade later" - And?

We allow Pleather boots that have zippers.  The cost difference between those and real English Riding boots that are fit to your calves is several hundred dollars USD - I imagine it's even more in some other places.  Yet no one is suggesting we eliminate all boots other than real English Riding Boots because it's "more expensive to upgrade later."

While I appreciate that many people want to go for L2/L3, everyone ELSE must appreciate that there is a good portion of the 501st that simply wants a costume - in our case for officers, the most common one I hear is "something I can sit in."

IMHO, the rule at L1 should be "at 15-20 feet can the average person tell the difference?" - with the Chalk holders, if done correctly per the CRL, no, they cannot.  So what exactly is the big deal?

  8. So it's speculation on your part? I'm only asking because you sometimes come across as you have access to LFL's game plan and I'm trying to ascertain what is official and what is just your opinion once again you mention my rank bar etc I'm flattered you take so much time to see what I'm doing it's an honour but to set your mind at rest yes I have had sideburns etc

We all do, in some ways. Most people like Pablo and the story group are VERY accessible - both on Twitter, and though mutual friends in our own legion. The Rogue One costume group seems to love answering our questions - it’s one of the ways we realized the Krennic gloves and boots were not just off the shelf items.

Plus the plethora of games, comics (both the old Marvel/Dark Horse that are now Legends, as well as the current Marvel that is cannon), cartoons, etc. The fact we’re even DISCUSSING trying to exclude items that are cannon, whether or not certain people want them to be, is... well, atrocious.

It’s time to stop pretending we’re blissfully unaware of anything outside of the OT when it comes to rank bars and accept all sources.

  9. The issue is we can't restrict it to OT.  As Bob said, OT only had the 451 costume with rank bars - and we have never bothered to build that CRL, so the current Staff Officer isn't even ANH - it's either R1 or comics/games/EU.

For example, in BF2 coming out now:
    ?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-forma

Black(ish, but it's supposed to be black) with double stacked rank bars.

The change was made sometime this year - I know because one of my GMLs asked m as IOC Advisor why that was changed, and I didn't even know it was.  It ws after Celebration if memory serves me, but I can't say that the change wasn't earlier.

If we want to build a 451 CRL and restrict the badges to only those seen in ANH, cool.  But this?  This is more than a hodgepodge mishmash, and was changed without notice.  I would suggest until this is worked out the original text from last year be restored to it.

General Rule of Thumb across all CRL's is:  While blasters are optional due to varying local laws and regulations that may or may not be present, if the character is always seen with blaster and holster, then at least holster must be present (even without blaster).  If the character is seen without blaster and holster at least once in reference, then both become optional.

Whilst my mind's eye may have filled in a blaster/holster where one may not have been in the episodes, I do believe he is always drawn with a holster/blaster combo, so we will be requiring the holster at minimum.

If a screengrab can be provided where it is not present, then holster will get shifted down to optional.

Fair enough.  I guess that was the decision on Krennic as well?

There is a gun present in the references.  However, consideration was made to not require an item that may or may not be forbidden at troops.  You will note that, for the most part (although there are exceptions) blasters are all optional things across all the CRL's, even in Stormtrooper CRL's, Heavy Weapon TK CRL's, etc.

Yep.  And I know TK's require the holster but IOC never did before Krennic, so that's where my head was at - if you had a blaster as an officer, THEN you had the holster, not without.  But I'm ok with updates.

Oh certainly! I have all those images SOMEWHERE on my hard drive. Going through 3 years of posts and uploading the photos again however is just not realistic. I noticed over on a Rebel Legion thread that I was looking at just yesterday. This will certainly make problems for people.

Absolutely.  As the XO of BHG just told me, this will MURDER our forums until we can fix those posts.

The blue does not extend off the hands, it's a shadow of the hand cast from a blue light that the professional photographer used for accent lighting.

Thrawn's hair is blue/black so I'm not sure what you're asking about on that subject?

I'm saying the hair shows this was photoshopped sir, and I'm not trying to be offensive, but from a graphic design AND a photography standpoint (both of which I have enough experience with to be able to see things, even if I can't absolutely replicate them), this picture was photoshopped.  The blue color UNDER the hair is far too even - a filter was ran on it.

I have seen pictures of you made up and they don't look like this.  I think made up your Thrawn looked very good - I'm questioning why we didn't use those pictures and instead used these.

  14. So, a friend of mine pointed out to me this was up - but ignoring his issues with the actual CRL (which I'm sure he'll post about at some point) - why was the model's pictures photoshopped?  (And badly I might add - and I'm not one to talk because I can't photoshop my butt out of a box, but the blue extends off the hands and onto the tunic, and the hair is blue)
