  1. I felt like it would clash with the rest of the movie. At no point did we ever feel like the empire weren't bad guys, Lucas created a very black/white universe for this Star War to take place in. Had the trilogy focused on a more grey area between good and evil, maybe this scene would have been more impactful.

     

    However, as it stands, keeping this scene in here and letting us empathize with the enemy, then immediately following it up with, as Han solo once gracefully said; "Hey Leia, you got a date to we-killed-thousands-of-people dance tonight?" (Family guy 'It's a Trap!') doesn't quite work thematically.

     

    Makes for great lore though.
