Thrawn's Helmet is defiantly AT-DP versus the traditional AT-AT Commander, with the exception of the goggles and goggle step clips.  The armour is similar but unfortunately quite different to the AT-AT Commander and the AT-DP Armour.

  2. Dear friends at the IOC:

Since joining the 501st, costume building has become a very good therapy for me as the process whisks me away, even momentarily, from real-life struggles and stressful work matters.

Aside from the actual build, it is in determining which character to breathe life to next is as integral a process for me as well.

Enter Agent Kallus from Star Wars Rebels.  His is an intriguing character for me and seeing the character evolve into what he is right now sealed the deal for me.

I have spent a many-a-time researching and hooking up with approved Kalluses from the IOC.

I'm proud to share with you that my Agent Kallus (Season 2-3) has just been approved yesterday by the Golden Gate Garrison.  I believe this is the first approved Kallus from the west, and could just be the very first Asian Kallus.

My sincerest thanks to my friend Dave Sack for the inspiration and all the guidance and for his wonderful Devious Tinker kit.  It was most certainly a wonderful build journey.

Props as well to Niels for being patient with my consults and for providing me sound advise.

To the Kalluses before me, thank you for the inspiration and for sharing your builds. How many approved Kalluses are there, anyway?

I look forward to donning the character in future troops with the hopes of sharing goodwill to others and generating pride for my garrison and to the corps. Agent Kallus from California reporting for dutiy.  For the Rebelli.... erm... For the Empire!   Ricky ID-74259    kallus-rbb-bw1.thumb.jpg.f20356861b74a74e5df1490809bd6a8e.jpg

Mine may be a tad short, but if what I comprehend from the concept above is the Kallus Gaiters are almost parallel with the back (lowest) part of the TK shin armor.

Could be wrong..but I don't believe it would be tall enough to cause a knee bending issue.

    Roughly 14" or so long.

  4. F, you sound like a T pose guy ;)

I think the screen shots have some details you can't get from concept drawings.

In this case though...the scale against a stormtrooper is good data.

The problem with Agent Kallus is his armor seems almost flexible changing shape as he moves...makes it kinda tough.

it appears the leg armor is about the same height as the lower part of the TK calf armor in this drawing, it does not look as high as the standard officer boot.

    thoughts?

  6. I don't know.probably the curve is there because of the belt restraining the vest...

You could say that, but I believe you would then be seeing folds or wrinkles, as you are saying it would be a "bunching" of the materials..correct?
  7. I think it's the cut of the tunic and seams, Niels non-padded shoulder looks very good as well without the padding, now if that is the same material type he's using for the uniform, I think he will be spot on.

The fact that the uniform on the cartoon has no wrinkles, not even when he bends, arms, legs what have you, never a wrinkle or a fold.

Lends to the idea it is a "stretch" type material, but that old cartoon to life thing..

Also, the mid section grey, is WAY to wide on the cos sky uniform, almost 11" wide on mine, most of the screen grabs I've seen, have the middle grey on the tunic roughly 1" either side of the belt buckle..( standard belt buckle 4" roughly) so..@ 6-7" in width at the middle of the tunic flaring out towards the bottom.

All details are important, where do we say that's OK and that's not?

I think Niels has gone the extra mile for sure!!

  8. Coolio!

Anyway, it is too red . He is more blondish than red-ish/brown-is. David color is perfect in my opinion.

Thanks F, the color was called copper for medium blonde, to dark brown hair, my hair is mostly..um...grey...lol

  9. They also have a full beard version, I wonder I'f you can cut it to look like the chops and if it is "paintable"

for € 15,- it would be worth a try no?

I converted the pantone colors from the official colorscheme to RGB color codes a while back.

    kallus-schets01_zps0eyqfjgh.jpg

I remember, and I think Nikko went with those colors at first on his helmet and armor, am I mistaken?
  10. I was the 2nd of the star wars rebels Imperial combat Driver, I.T.T. variant (dark Variant)with the ACD I did push for the pantone colors of the Wolf concept drawings, but there can always be a fight with screen grabs, because of the lighting, and the type of material that appears to reflect light differently.

hexicrhome black is the lighter color here on the tunic. would there be ANY contrast at all to the regular black of the rest ?

    black12.png

    Tank-transport-pilot-Pantone-300x300.jpg

I wouldn't go with the pantone colors on Agent k because I feel it does NOT represent what we see on screen.

I believe if you are going to address the shoulders you have to take the whole uniform into account, on screen and in the concept drawings you will se NO wrinkles in the tunic OR the pants except a slight flare at the legs where they meet the armor, padding may or may not be the way to go, but here is where the rubber hits the road. one detail can effect others in a costume that is brought to real life from a cartoon...I truly believe that if you can make it look exactly like screen used with your choices and have Valid reference to back up those choices who can say no?

    There is NO spoon neo!!

  11. post-8765-145220343393_thumb.jpg Niels it does appear to be the Darker color as the rest of the uniform, not matching the shoulders, there is a contrast between shoulders and collar. perhaps the lighting in your picture if not reflecting this as prominently.

I'm not a huge fan of the padded shoulders, but I think you'll be hard pressed to imitate that look using a non stretch fabric. I believe you will be limited to the shape of the seam

  12. I agree 100%, even with real hair, it takes a considerable amount of "product" in your hair to achieve this style hair, and wig or real hair mixed with sweat equals...... " just keep the bucket on" if you have it, hard to comb and TROOP :)

Alot can be said about wigs, I have seen some horrific wigs used...anything worth while wearing will cost, because of this combed back style (roots exposed) I considered a wig, but during my hunt I found that anything that came close to this look was upwards of 200+.

So next choice, buy some dye, comb it straight back, and sneer!

  13. A few pics from my last troop that I wanted to share :)

From what I understand, Raymond has a hard time NOT smiling :)

  14. Hi Chris.

First of all, I don't want under any circumstance to be disrespectful agains any other member here. I'm trying to figure out which is a "reasonable grade of accuracy" in this matter as "reasonable grade of accuracy" can vary from person to person while something stated and measurable cannot be travised nor what I'm going to say has to be seen as any form of personal attack to anyone. We're all adults here and we're working to make a high level standard CRL for a new costume.

In my humble opinion, both Randy and David will perform better with a wig as the first lacks the color and the second the amount of hair as per this picture

    faceComparison.png

David got the color perfectly (in my opinion) but lacks some hair. Randy got the haircut perfectly but the color is wrong. I do not agree about being dark brown. That color is not anywhere near dark brown (In my opinion as well of. As nothing has been written yet, it is not a problem (as usual) for those already approved but if I can say something I will take extra care for those that will come later. Face character means you have to get it over a "reasonable degree of accuracy" otherwise there will be no need for a face character definition.

For this reason I would advice that you can go for the face character route but you must match hair shape and color (even with a wig like some Vader pre armor do) with helmet Optional or the Combat version route but in that case the helmet should be made REQUIRED and not optional

    Weapon

The main weapon of Kallus is the Bo-Rifle, no doubt on that. Weapons per country regulations are optional but there should be listed only those that really makes sense. Listing a weapon only because it happens once that a character picks it up from the ground should not qualify as optional weapon. Otherwise we should be able to list every single variant of a costume. For instance, in TCW season 5, Vizsla removes his jetpack during the duel VS maul but it is not possible to approve a version of Vizsla without the jetpack just because you see it once on the screen. Does this makes sense?

    F

    Fredirico,

No disrespect taken from my part, I have come to accept I am getting old..lol

I think you have to allow a slight bit of variance, if you take it to the extreme with accuracy, Eye color, face shape, body shape come into question, I do believe in accurate as possible, and I do love the tier approval system, maybe something can be incorporated to allow for a "standard" approval and then tier up, to holy cow!! It's agent Kallus just arrived from Lothal!! :)

I intend to wear my helmet when ever I TROOP, because I agree my hair doesn't match in my opinion, but in the spirit of approval, and representing the character, I went through the motions, to have the minimum requirements that had been discussed by the LMO, DL, and talking back and forth and watching Chris and his fantastic build for Raymond.

He set the ground work for the rest of us. Thanks again big snowy!!

  15. is the helmet still an optional in the WIP CRL ?

Is Kallus a face character so we need a wig or to dye our hair if we do not have that blonde color as his ?

    F

From what I understand the helmet and blaster are optional, it is however a "Face Character" and the hair and chops must be there, and match the light brown/ red blonde color.

...so having black hair, or in my case grey hair..won't pass muster.

  16. Excellent work David! Good to hear!

looking forward to that CRL. I need some guidelines

Thanks :) can't wait to see you finish your Kallus I think it's going to be awesome!!

I might just ask to see if I can help with the CRL work to speed it along.
