itsAnOldCode reacted to Tiogar in Starting on Rebel Thrawn / Grand Admiral
Hello all,
Finally decided to start on my Thrawn. (poor Maul keeps getting on the back burner) I love the character in the Zahn novels, and in rebels.
I want to look into the uniform first. What are peoples opinions on cosplay sky? I could sew one myself, but at 160 ish id rather buy it. How is there tailoring? Are there other vendors that are good?
I have a background in haunts and theater, so I've got the makeup ready.
I also came up with something fun for the eyes.
The glow isn't photo shopped. I still need to play with the focus to get rid of one of those light points, but it was a test run. I originally had a full face prosthetic I made for an Alucard WIP, but I got it down in size so I can do Thrawn with it.
Any recommendations on a wig? I've done a decent short wig for my Anakin, but Thrawns hair seems much tighter to the head. I also though about temp dying my hair and hiding the pony tail down my collar, but I'm worried it won't look right. Also, temp hair dye near a white uniform...
Thanks all! Excited to get to work on this.

itsAnOldCode reacted to Walker in Armour for Imperial Officers
Thrawn's Helmet is defiantly AT-DP versus the traditional AT-AT Commander, with the exception of the goggles and goggle step clips. The armour is similar but unfortunately quite different to the AT-AT Commander and the AT-DP Armour.

itsAnOldCode reacted to JHyena in Agent Kallus Uniform Questions
So I'm in the process of building Agent Kallus to go with a Kanan build my partner is doing. I've got the armour kit and ordered a Bo-Rifle and currently I'm going between the plastic kit and fabric mock up. From what I understand, most Kallus builds have used the Cosplaysky uniform, but I like making my own. I know the CRL talks about the seam down the back but I'm not sure if other seams are present/acceptable? Looking at the character model and concept art there is only that back seam and seams where the contrasting are, but I am concerned about the fit without a seam down the sides. Can anyone elaborate or provide picture reference of their uniform?

Dear friends at the IOC:
Since joining the 501st, costume building has become a very good therapy for me as the process whisks me away, even momentarily, from real-life struggles and stressful work matters.
Aside from the actual build, it is in determining which character to breathe life to next is as integral a process for me as well.
Enter Agent Kallus from Star Wars Rebels. His is an intriguing character for me and seeing the character evolve into what he is right now sealed the deal for me.
I have spent a many-a-time researching and hooking up with approved Kalluses from the IOC.
I'm proud to share with you that my Agent Kallus (Season 2-3) has just been approved yesterday by the Golden Gate Garrison. I believe this is the first approved Kallus from the west, and could just be the very first Asian Kallus.
My sincerest thanks to my friend Dave Sack for the inspiration and all the guidance and for his wonderful Devious Tinker kit. It was most certainly a wonderful build journey.
Props as well to Niels for being patient with my consults and for providing me sound advise.
To the Kalluses before me, thank you for the inspiration and for sharing your builds. How many approved Kalluses are there, anyway?
I look forward to donning the character in future troops with the hopes of sharing goodwill to others and generating pride for my garrison and to the corps. Agent Kallus from California reporting for dutiy. For the Rebelli.... erm... For the Empire! Ricky ID-74259

Though mine is not as good. I do sell my model. Full printing/casting rights and the original model. I just ask that you say I made it.

itsAnOldCode reacted to decius in Rebels officer blaster (Thrawn)
I wasn't sure what subforum to post this in, but I just got my rebels Thrawn blaster kit and it is awesome! I went for the kit version for $50, but I think they also sell completed ones. Not sure of that price. Easily one of the best purchases I've made! Here's the link to the etsy store I got it from:

The pic with the hand is mine.

itsAnOldCode reacted to YasuNagasena in ISB officer with body armor
Could it be possible to qualify as an ISB officer with body armor? Similar to what agent Kallus uses but with some extra protection. I was planning on modeling the costume something like this:
This is the ISB infiltrator armor
That would be the baseline, I would tone the armor down a bit and add the rank bars.
Thanks for the help

itsAnOldCode reacted to LoveMonkey in Material matching for tie reserve costume
So I'm in the process of finishing my TIE reserve/Bridge Crew build right now. I've just about finished the modified coverall conversion and I learned how to sew so I could do the conversion. I was also going to sew my own hat but another Garrison mate helped me out with that (long story). Anyways, what I'm getting at is as far as I can tell, don't stress the fabric matching the hat and flightsuit. I know mine won't and from all the research I've done, I don't think they do have to match. You'll obviously want the color to be as close as you can.
As for coveralls, I got mine for Christmas as a gift, but here is a link you can use. Make sure to get 2 pairs.
Red Kap Twill Coveralls on Amazon
Hope this helps.

The difference in this argument is that people are "wanting to be called 'agent kallus' " while not wanting to adhere to standards that actually make someone look like kallus...

The Agent Kallus CRL is being written and should be online soon I hope.
In the mean time I can give you a few pointers
Belt: The belt is the same as standard officers, except for the buckle.
Gloves: standard black (leather) gloves but covered with what I started to refer to as "gauntlet armor"
Boots: black boots ofcourse, but covered with shin armor.
check my build topic.
Im the Kallus on the right. Left is Federico

Pre Vizsla mandalorian plates from TCW bent too but it was an animation issue. You can't just use like foam with the excuse 'it bends' XD
Aside from that, I agree it is shorter

I think it's the cut of the tunic and seams, Niels non-padded shoulder looks very good as well without the padding, now if that is the same material type he's using for the uniform, I think he will be spot on.
The fact that the uniform on the cartoon has no wrinkles, not even when he bends, arms, legs what have you, never a wrinkle or a fold.
Lends to the idea it is a "stretch" type material, but that old cartoon to life thing..
Also, the mid section grey, is WAY to wide on the cos sky uniform, almost 11" wide on mine, most of the screen grabs I've seen, have the middle grey on the tunic roughly 1" either side of the belt buckle..( standard belt buckle 4" roughly) so..@ 6-7" in width at the middle of the tunic flaring out towards the bottom.
All details are important, where do we say that's OK and that's not?
I think Niels has gone the extra mile for sure!!

Good work! If you don't mind me asking, did you get your uniform custom made or by cosplaysky?
Just a follow up. Finished the boots 100%. Found a dupli-color vinyl and fabric paint in pretty much the EXACT shade of gray we used for the boot straps. Dried really really fast and went on very well. Picked it up at an autozone
We started doing the replacement glove-guantlet pieces today, but kinda got lazy. Gonna work on them over the week. Not terribly difficult. Need to have this all done by the 24th so not really concerned.
Also, no pics, but we were perusing target and we talked about other options for sidearms, and he decided to pick up one of the Rebel's style E-11's they're selling for kids costumes. Only $12, but when size matching it to my hyperfirm, they're are nearly the same in size, only being maybe a 1/4" shorter, but definitely "skinnier." Works well for him. Just gotta do some filler work, slap some paint on and call it a day.
Here's a question, if I were to make the pistol replica, would anyone be interested in me going through the trouble of making molds and offering casts?

So just got the word my friend Ray has been approved. We're not done with the changes though, but the LMOs confirmed that hair color and chops are required for approval. Helmet is not required but is optional

Nikko did go for the dark blueish colors for the helmet and armor after having discussed it with our GML. But I think the grey colors your guys use fit better with the black/grey uniform

I wouldn't be reliant on that reference image with those color annotations. I had to ignore it for our build because those colors don't always match up. I also feel those annotations were made by someone other than an official source.
