    So.

I have seen two different ways hats have been finished and I am wondering which is correct or are both Okay?

The first is the olive hat (borrowed from someones feed) and has no "bias tape" edge.. I personally like this one better

The second is the black hat and has an edging on it.

The pattern I have calls for NO top stitching except around the edges (and of course the bill) but I would like to know if one is preferred over the other?

Glad to see your still working on this. Hope to see one!

  2. Been trooping for a little over a year now with close to 30 troops. Most of the time trooping was spent on my feet. ;)

If taking a break "backstage" it might just be easier and more comfortable to remove the coat. Otherwise if bar stools are available, they may be easier to sit on without everything bunching up.

I found an old thread (dated June 7, 2008) containing the proposed "Deck Crew" CRL. It looks like it eventually evolved into the specs for the Bridge Crewman. I guess that the 28 members were approved before the name change.

This is what I was thinking is the case.

  4. it should also be noted that you should never lock your knees in any of these positions (or just standing normally while trooping), unless you want your face to meet the floor at some point. Your knees should be bent ever so slightly so blood can circulate better through your legs.

  5. Are they the right size now? A good cobbler should be able to patch that up. The big issue that I can possibly see is the amount of stitching in the panel. He would probably cut the panel out completely and can replace with a smoother piece of leather. That should make it more passable. Might want to get their (the cobbler's) opinion though. You can also try to sell them on eBay or similar to recoup some or maybe all of your money. Someone may want them, not just 501st. And even then, someone else's GML may say yes. ;)

  6. I would say at least 1/4. That may be about minimum with about 1/2 being the max length. I think mine falls somewhere in between. I was measuring just from the bottom of the wrist where the flare starts. Here's a picture of my arm down showing the compad.

  7.  Length should maybe somewhere around 1/4 or a bit more up your forearm and maybe best guess a couple of inches flaring out. There's no set dimension as it may vary depending on your size. See my avatar or sig as I'm modeling the glove there. I'll link a bigger pic when I power up my computer.

Is Battlefront considered canon? (I thought it was the only mention of the 501st as a canonical Clone Wars/Empire legion)-- because if so, the "Officer" class in the game shows a Line Officer wearing Veers' armor as a form of frontline command. It isn't seen in the movie, but alot of things aren't seen in the movie.

    For reference: My avatar.

IMHO all that matters is that it's a 501st recognized costume. Most who own it are dual detachment members already as it's not a big leap between the two. It may make sense from the fictional standpoint but there may also be real world logistical reasons why it's in ACD as well.

  9. Perhaps because there aren't that many canonical references to say it's a battle dress uniform for officers. The only time you see it on screen is Veers commanding the AT-AT assault.

My take is line officers don't expose themselves directly to combat too much on purpose. When they do, they are in a heavily armored vehicle like an AT-AT. On the ground, you have Stormtrooper commanders in TK armor blending in with their troops. If I'm a Rebel sniper and I see someone dressed like Veers on the front line, guess who my next target is? ;)

  10. I have worn my Wampa Wear flight suit to many events outside in the South throughout the Summer, including circumnavigating a minor league ballpark (with a gunner helmet and bib on to boot) with the requisite stops for pictures, etc. Hot is hot whether you wear one makers flightsuit or the others. Drink plenty of fluids prior to trooping. I don't know about CS ones, but WW suits have a convenient "I gotta go" zipper. ;)

  11. They were never seen being used for a practical purpose in the movies (neither were the code cylinders for that matter). If one were to speculate, I would imagine they kept something similar to ID cards/discs, credit chits, power cylinders if they were armed, etc.
