RynoHawk got a reaction from BensID39999 in Ovation Boots
I agree with this. Those would be good for basic approval, but you may want to go with leather. Leather not only looks better, but also breathes better so your feet will be more comfortable. PVC or pleather type products really don't have much give. This is especially important if you have calves bigger than maybe 17". Just because they have your shoe size doesn't necessarily mean they'll fit over your calves. Leather can be stretched a couple of inches. PVC or pleather, not so much.
You might want to research carefully and maybe put in a few extra bucks towards boots. You'll be happier in the end (and so will your feet!).

RynoHawk got a reaction from zeekaran in Thoughts on this officer hat?
Looks fine to me. If it makes you feel better, look at some of the hats in some screen caps. They are not exactly the models of "crisp and even" on much of the actors who wore them.

Haha John, I actually asked my wife to take some photos of me that night while I was in costume but she fell asleep. I'll have to slip it back on first thing when I get off work. Haha that's funny though John.

RynoHawk got a reaction from Studio49 in General Hux - Secondary Costume For Me?
I think you would make a great Hux. You don't have to look like his identical twin, but you do have a fair resemblance. Once the movie comes out and there is more source material to model the costume off of, I think you will be set (assuming you or someone puts one together).

RynoHawk got a reaction from Arch27 in Cleaning a Museum Replicas Hat?
I have one but have not cleaned it yet. My plan is to take off the greeblie and machine wash in cold water on delicate or perm. press. I will then shape it out while wet and let it air dry. If you have something resembling a mannequin head to place it on, that would be best. Otherwise, maybe a ball or a large melon.
You can maybe use a stain remover (Spray and Wash or the like) on the stain, but I would test it first on the fabric under the flaps to make sure it doesn't discolor the fabric.
You can also take to a dry cleaner and let them know about the stain.

RynoHawk got a reaction from Hask in Thoughts on this officer hat?
I just received my Museum Replica hat from the same vendor. My head size was in between the sizes for large and extra large, so I went with the large one. This appears to have been the right call. If anyone orders these and is in the same predicament, go with the smaller size.
I steamed it out a little bit and gave it a once over with an iron. I'm currently wearing it right now to let my head shape it up a bit (I don't have a mannequin head).

RynoHawk got a reaction from Correia13 in Code Cylinders
Captain Piett (before his "field promotion") and General Veers both wore a single code cylinder in the left pocket. So did Captain Needa. Only difference in the three is the rank boxes between the captains (three red top, three blue bottom) and General Veers (four red on top, four blue on bottom).
As stated, you can confirm with Google and YouTube as well. Piett is a little tricky as you need to look before he is promoted. When he becomes an Admiral, he wears three code cylinders (2 left pocket, 1 right).
