  1. Perfect! Yes well be glad to walk you through it. Probably just interfacing and reshaping. Once you receive them just post a picture and we'll let you know.

As far as the hat goes you can try the links on the Costume Refrence Library I linked earlier. Or you can see if one of these MUR will work here:

    http://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=museum+replicas+hat&isNewKw=1&mfs=GOCLK&acimp=0&_trksid=p2053742.m2428.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xmuseum+replicas+hat&sqp=museum+replicas+hat

And the code cylinders, you had a good suplier picked out. Philo makes great code cylinders. I have one from him.

  2. Wow. Fastest typing in the galaxy, for sure! I didn't expect so many replies, so quickly. Thanks for diverting me to the proper cosplaysky uniform there.

What does being Level 2 versus Level 3 detail exactly?

The CRL will outline the specifics for the different levels. The levels 2 and 3 will be goals for higher details in your costume. And your costume may be submitted for these higher honors here on the forum after your costume clears.

Hope that helps. If you need more specifics just ask.

  3. Hey Richard,

You will be fine with Cosplaysky. Just order this version instead:

    http://cosplaysky.com/star-wars-imperial-officer-uniform-costume-deluxe-version-new.html

I'm sure you've probably read about ordering from them, what to expect, and tailoring and modifications you'll probably have to do.

The boots will work fine up to Executor. They are not exact replicas of "English style" riding boots and aren't rigid enough for Imperator. Hopefully they'll send you a good pair. There's been another thread recently about a bad pair someone else received sence they are surplus. However they are full leather and can last a long time.

The other two items your ordering are great.

    For hats try searching for:

    - Museum Replicas on Ebay

    - Commission one on here:

    http://www.imperialofficer.com/forum/index.php?/topic/1817-ioc-costume-resource-list/

    - Disney's notched disk version

Let us know if you have any questions.

  4. Hey Matt Happy Birthday! What a haul, and at Orlando too! Your uniform looks great you're a shoe-in man! Nice pics! Hoping I can afford Celebration there in 2017!

    Thanks so much Ben!

We've been having a blast! I'm working on the wife to talk her into Celibration as well. I told her I hope she decides to go, or else I'm go solo ;) Hope you can make it, it would be great to meet more of you in person and have some great times.

    So in conclusion:

Here are the pros and cons I found for both the Leather Sheen and the Resolene:

    LEATHER SHEEN

    Pros:

    1. Easily applied

    2. No applicator required

    Cons:

    1. More expensive ($14.99)

    2. Doesn't stop all dye bleeding

    3. Doesn't waterproof as well

    RESOLENE

    Pros:

    1. Cheaper ($7.99)

    2. Waterproofs better

    3. Stops almost all dye bleeding

    Cons:

    1. Must purchase seperate applicator

    2. Harder to apply and more messy

In conclusion, Resolene seems to be the much better solution to seal leather belts. The finishes seemed to look the same after drying. Resolene waterproofs both the rough and smooth side better. The water droplets never seemed to absorb into the leather on either side and stayed pooled in a droplet. Unfortunatly the sample with the Leather Sheen absorbed the water almost immediately on the rough side. It also stopped almost all traces of dye bleeding after applied. There was still noticeable dye bleeding with the Leather Sheen. I will definatly be using the Resolene for any leather finishing or waterproofing needs.

*Special thanks to Kris for the Resolene suggestion*

I hope this will help anyone in anyway with similar questions or needs. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Matt

So I left the samples to dry for 8 hours. Then I tested them by rubbing them with a paper towel to see how well they stopped the dye from bleeding.

First this is the results of the control or the belt with nothing applied:

This is the results of the Leather Sheen:

Finally this is the results of the Resolene:
