You're pretty knowledgeable, so I can see why they would think that! :)

Is it just R1 that they used the bigger pushbutton ranks or did they do it in Solo too?  Technically, even the OT rank bars wouldn't be correct replicating a R1 officer since their rank tiles were sized differently.  Maybe that's that nuance stuff you talked about ignoring? ;)

For rank bars, it looks like Disney is going with the larger ones for all "New Canon" GCW movies.  Near as I can tell, rank bars are the same size in R1/SOLO.  They look a lot more impactful in my opinion.

  2. Can someone shed some light on which costumes correspond to which movies?

The Warrant Officer seems to be the stock ROTJ black uniform officer; no rank bar, no cylinders, a couple of boxes, some gloves, and neck clasp in the front.

Version 1 says it was seen in ANH as well?  A background/stunt actor somewhere?  Was it it a black Line Officer-style tunic, or does it close on the neck side like the 451?

The ANH Staff Officer is self explanatory: the neck side closing 451 jacket, holster on some folks, the rank bars.  Basically all the black uniform officers we see in ANH.

So what is Staff Officer (Black Uniform)?  Seems like rankbar/cylinders, like ANH black uniform officers, but with a Line Officer style tunic, like ESB/ROTJ?  Did any of these appear in any of the films, or are they strictly an "expanded universe" costume configuration?

Just trying to get my head around which is which so I can help inform other folks in my garrison/at armor parties when they ask me :)

Now that the answer is out there, can we take a moment to appreciate that Tagge was a sharp fellow? I love there's a depth of internal dissent written into to the original script. It kind of hangs a lampshade on what could otherwise be taken as some cartoonishly hubristic plot points. This is right up there with the cut Jerjerrod scenes from RoTJ.

Tagge is my favorite character for this very reason.  I love that whole scene because it adds so much depth to the galaxy without very much dialogue; you know there's a senate, you know there's an emperor trying to sweep away the last vestiges of the old.  You know there's a rebellion which some think is a joke and others think are a true danger.  And you get confirmation the force is real.

Nicely done!  PM me your address and I'll send it out next time I'm at the post office ;)

    (You count for spelling right?)

Gja360 was a little quicker this time, but keep your eye on this thread... I'll be posting extras periodically :)

  5. I ended up with an extra ESB Captain-style push button rank badge (three red over three blue) someone cancelled an order on, so lets make it a freebie!

Trivia; first one who guesses it gets the badge for free!

In the original "extended scene" of the ANH Conference Room, General Tagge speaks about the Rebellion and the threat they pose.  He is cut off by Admiral Motti, who responds with "Dangerous to your starfleet, not to this battlestation".

What is the original dialogue General Tagge speaks before Admiral Motti's retort?

(Hint, the entire dialogue didn't make the film... but there is video of it out there ;))

But it so so fun to walk around nose slightly in the air feeling important.

That's part of being "in character".  I have an entire head-canon for the nameless officer I portray;  I wear a Captain badge, because I was given captainship of a Victory-Class Star Destroyer.  Sounds nifty, right?  Except the Victory-class ships are the old war tech, and being placed on one is usually seen as the career-ender for any upward mobility.  It makes sense to me that the Empire might stick an experienced female officer somewhere like that so as to appease her without having to deal with her.  Of course, knowing this, my character lets this all go to her head and thinks she's going to be the next Peitt.

Okay, nerdiness aside, be whatever rank you want.  The goal is to have fun and put smiles on faces :P
