Yup.  I heard that the originals were actually wooden honey spoons painted silver.

The (current) general consensus is that for the original trilogy the buttons should be 1/4 inch. If you're doing the larger Rogue One style, the spacing should be closer to 1/8 inch. The way I'm doing mine is that I'm keeping the bar length the same, and just centering the buttons regardless of their type.

How does he breathe in that??? I get claustrophobic from my TK bucket with fans blasting in my face and an open frown... I can't imagine a nearly closed headpiece with latex over my face too.

If I look at the rod-style-codecylinder I always have to think of those: https://www.google.de/search?tbm=isch&q=honey+spoon+metal&spell=1&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjMoc3d1ofXAhVHWBQKHYYlAqIQBQgiKAA&biw=1920&bih=932&dpr=1

Sounds funny, I know. Perhaps I'll try how they work someday.

I have been saying this for so many years.  The man is 86 years old now.  How much time will we have to have the chance.

I am going to look for a way to reach out to him.  He DID visit the set of Rogue One to look at the costume with Glyn Dillon.  I'll see if there is a way to contact him.

while the greeble that goes on the hat was a pully from a popular record player (the notch was where the key went), I am not sure what the X-tools originated.  It could have been the only form of machined metal prop that went on pilot's uniforms and (select) imperial officer uniforms.

I wish there was a way to get a hold of John Mollo.  I think he could tell the story in a minute.

    Anywho.

Can the chalk cylinders be made to look good ?  Yes.

Then the applicant should be worked with and guided to how to make the things look good.  GML's passing horrible looking chalkholders isn't the fault of the standard, per se`.  Should the language used be looked at to help tighten the gap on what is a "bad" chalkholder and what isn't?  Maybe, and worth consideration.

There is no CRL for him.  There was an effort to have different different members of the armed services shown on the Death Star by the designs of John Mollo, who headed up the costume department.  The black would be something akin to the Nazi SS, the green would be the army, the cream colored uniforms for the ISB would be something of an Air Force.  Admiral Motti was supposed to wear one of these, but he couldn't fit into the uniform so they put the actor in a green one.  There were three grades of uniforms made.  The hero ones were wore by Motti, Tarkin, Tagge and any officer with a speaking role.  The ones in the background would not have pockets for code cylinders because were were never meant to see that kind of detail.  Then there was another step down that is almost single breasted in the jacket.  Including guys with slacks and cheasea boots instead of english riding boots.

I forgot to mention, this general in the center of the screen is in a grey uniform different from the one you see on Romodi and Motti here....and definitely different from Yularen's ISB unfiorm.
